I love that IMSA uploads all the races to UA-cam. I'm busy most of the time with work.. so its hard for me to find enough time to sit down and watch an endurance race front to back like i would prefer. But this season i haven't missed a race... even if i watched it two months late.. I can still sit down and enjoy the competition I'm grateful for that!
Thank you IMSA! These uploads and the live coverage is what keeps me coming back for more. You are not losing TV viewership, you are ensuring that fans can stay in touch!
I'm here once again one year after this edition just because I'm so crazy to see this year's race. IMSA is one of the Endurance peaks in the World, and I love its racing. And I again will attend to the 2020 Daytona's 24, so see you there!
Thank you IMSA. Thank you so much for Archiving this to On Demand servers like UA-cam. I wouldn't see this race otherwise. South Africa doesn't have many sources to watch this series on. The main Sports broadcast source is SuperSport. And they can't cover all Racing that we'd like. Like this series. And the V8s from Australia as examples.
I went here and that was my first ever introduction into racing, the nexy year 2019, I watched every race excluding VIR and Road atlanta on tv I went to VIR and Road atlanta in person. And now I know and love it so so much.
I was there for the whole thing. Such an amzing race and experience. If you look at turn one 6:04 min Im right at the flag shack on the left. Congrats to Porsche!
Did they let the work experience guy direct the TV feed? There are huge chunks of this coverage where we are missing everything that is going on, or we look at on-boards or follow individual cars for laps at a time for no obvious reason. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that this is being provided for free, in full and with the RadioLeMans commentary but the pictures need some serious work...
Yeah there was one specific time were the camera was on the pits but the announcers were talking about a prototype dead stopped in the road gtlms I believe can around it. I would have liked to have seen that but by the time the camera left the pits the prototype had already taken off
I think the reason the coverage seems bad is because this is the imsa RADIO commentary - so the announcers are following the TV just as we are. If the race is on TV in America they use Dorsey Schroeder, Calvin Fish, Justin Bell, and Leigh Diffey as announcers. So it's not bad coverage as much as it is that John Hindaugh can't stop talking for more than 10 seconds - he keeps his head down and doesn't notice on track action sometimes. For example - the BMW with the headlight issue... The TV shows the car for about half a lap with it clearly being damaged - and John didn't say anything because he was staring at the timing and scoring screen. He's a good announcer - I just prefer someone who has actually raced in the cars they're covering.... There's nothing better than hearing little drivers secrets from Justin Bell and Dorsey Schroeder.... Jeremy Shaw is also a better announcer in my opinion - John just gets too excited and declares EVERYTHING to be a "MASSIVE" shunt/disappointment/issue etc. It's just annoying hearing one voice for 9 out of the 10 hours... And he literally talks the ENTIRE 9 HOURS. I prefer the NBC crew - actually I prefer the old Speed Channel crew - and I especially miss David Hobbs commentary! I still remember Hobbo saying... And I quote... "Ohh you DORK that move was never gonna work!" and the other announcers cracking up when he saw someone dive bomb someone else and crash. You'll never hear announcers calling anyone a dork - but Hobbs could. He raced in F1, Group C, IMSA GTP, Trans Am, and a plethora of touring and GT cars... The man literally drove anything and was good at it! I miss Justin Bell being more than a pit announcer too - when it was Justin, Dorsey and Brian Till during the ALMS days it was the best announcing team ever. I do like Leigh Diffey too. He's just not as inappropriate or hilarious as Justin.. Son of the legend and almost-Mr-Le Mans Derek Bell... Porsche 962 and Le Mans winning Derek Bell. Justin won the GT2 class in the Oreca Viper, so he's not bad himself!
Watched the whole thing from the #55 Joest Mazda cockpit live on imsatv, so i had to watch this again to see what happened to the rest of the field in the 10 hours
This was truly a great year of racing. My goal in 2019 is to attend a race. I've never been to a race in my life and want to knock that off of my bucket list.
It was on my bucket list too until last Sunday (Aug 4, 2019) when I saw the race at Road America. As a fellow IMSA virgin, I was shocked at how different the live race is! It's so much more than they can capture on TV. The whole vibe in the paddock is so cool! The drivers are all approachable, and not just at autograph time. If you see one, you can say hi, and they seem happy to say hi back, as long as you don't hold them up. (Ollie Jarvis walked right past me after a double stint, and the poor guy looked so exhausted, I just kept walking.) The mechanics and techs in the paddock are fun to talk to as well, as long as they're not busy, obviously. What really struck me as odd is how some cars are SO LOUD (911 & 912, LMP2's, Fords), yet some seem to have street mufflers or something (the Mazdas). The cars look so much brighter in person too - on a sunny day anyway, especially the Mazdas. Bring a radio with earbuds and hearing protection that go over the ears. The commentary where we were was impossible to hear, and my friend brought a shortwave radio that had the wrong earphone jack size. Find our where the big-screen monitors are too so you can see replays of things that happen elsewhere on the track. Seeing a race live is SO worth it! I'm considering driving from Minnesota to Road Atlanta this year!
Go to a Walter Mitty event, F1 back to 1960 or so, GTP cars, tons of small bore etc and then great Vettes and Mustangs from the 60s and 70s.. A NASCAR Group, a little bit of everything. Great weekend event for 3 days.
GT has highly prestigious and legendary cars like Corvette and Ford GT, as well as top class drivers. GT cars deserve an overall winners trophy for production based cars not just class victory.
There is a "Manufacturer's" category in the I.MS.A. series scoring. I don't know if that's what you're looking for. Probably the closest thing we'll get though as everything's moving towards electric and automated.
thank you IMSA for uploading the full season, but the people in the controlroom really mess up. we never get to see what the commentators are talking about and with the onboards the sound don't match with the video. and pls stop jumping from car to car every second
Perhaps in a couple weeks the IMSA channel can work on releasing videos of all the races this year with no commentary. I love the IMSA radio guys don't get me wrong. But to watch a race replay for a 3rd time or more it would be cool to just hear the engine sounds.
Thanks for this - and all - of your uploads! That being said, I have a complaint/suggestion: there were too many lengthy segments of the race where the overall intervals were being shown, instead of having them segmented by bracket. It's of little/no benefit to know that all of the GTLM or DP cars are X laps behind the Prototypes - especially when most/all of the latter types are on the same lap (when intra-bracket intervals really matter)! The bracketed intervals should be shown most all of the time.

Thanks for uploading IMSA! However, I have to say, I'm at the 6:30 mark left in the race and the last hour to an hour and a half has been some really poor video director editing. Not having cameras on the action, audio not matching the video feed, switching to cameras that aren't focused on anything. It's been sub-par watching it which is unusual.
