  • Before we'll learn to take off and actually fly, it would be smart to learn a bit about how we control the plane. We'll also learn a little bit of theory about how planes actually fly.

Great job on your video series. What you are showing so far, are the basics and that is always a great starting point for sim pilots and student pilots in training at school as well. I'm sure as your channel gets more views it will grow. Keep up with your blogs and it will be a win/win situation for us all. I myself am a armchair sim pilot and always enjoy seeing and hearing what others have to offer from the flying community. Keep up the great work.

Fantastic videos. I just got x-plane 11 yesterday and didn't know where to start with the learning. I've been watching all day today and "playing along" and these have helped a ton. Think I'm almost ready to fly! :-)

Very good explanation of the effect of forces on the control surfaces.

Hi, Digital Aviator and thanks for continuing your Flight school series!
Sorry for a little bit of OT but I would like to ask you about your settings of XPReality plugin with respect to REP from Simcoders: which particular effects base on your experience with both products are redundant and should be set off to get maximum but smooth experience? There are different opinions about that... THX

Where did you learn all the theory?

Hey DA, great vids, learned a lot. Prob a stupid question, but do planes in general also have trim wheels for rolling, yaw? With a single prop the take-off and landing veer to one side, is it possible to trim that so I can theoretically hold the yoke in neutral til V1 (take-off) or parked at the gate?

Some planes have rudder and/or aileron trim, primarily larger planes because those are harder to control. That said you don't really need to use the yoke to control the plane on the ground, just the rudder until you get off the ground.

@@digitalaviator5088 Yeah my bad, I binded my rudder to the joystick Z-axis, and taking off and landing in a straight line has been horrible so far =D

With all due respect, can you please confirm these lessons of yours are not negative advice, i want to become a pilot, in about 2 years i can legally start training. I really want to follow your lessons as they are really high quality and they seem legit, but at my flying club today they told me i should be careful with those youtube and flight simulator lessons as they might be not in correlation to the real aviation world, and i might learn things that are false or simply not right. thanks for answering if u did, BTW: ik ben ook een belg :) jij komt van holland maar wij zijn een beetje dezelfde.

Hey buurman :). Inderdaad goed advies van je vliegschool om op te passen met waar je je informatie vandaan haalt. Ik ben zelf geen instructeur en heb ook geen vliegopleiding gehad. Slechts 2 vlieglesjes in mijn leven.

I'm a student pilot with about 32 hours right now. I can say that these videos are largely technically correct. However, the teaching methods they use in flight school will differ. This last video is starting to diverge a little more than I would be comfortable with in real life (although it is all technically correct). You never want to move or turn the plane in the ways shown in this video in real life. You especially don't want to deploy flaps at speeds outside of the white arc on the speedometer. And hopefully he will discuss "coordinated turns" later. Can find actual certified instructors with UA-cam channels that will teach you stuff for real. I like FLY8MA.com (fly eight mike alpha dot com). Your flight training will be significantly easier because you are a simmer. Mine was/is. In many ways, it's harder to fly sim than in real life. Realize though, that you will develop some bad habits that your instructor will have to train out of you. Good luck!

@@nukedaddy thank you mate, im very happy we live in a time where we have flight simulators of high quality like xplane 11 , imagine how it was in the 80s 90s for people like us, you could only really learn these things at a flight school
