35018 British India Line with The Bournemouth Express 3 July 2021

- Not so much an express to Bournemouth, but more of a cruise with a rush to catch up in places, owing to track problems between Basingstoke and Winchester, which put the timetable for all trains heading through in this part of the country into disarray.
British India Line still made a splendid sight at Chertsey, Worting Junction and Ashurst New Forest on the outward journey. On the return, I saw her at Test Lane, Whitchurch and departing her final water stop at Brookwood. If only we could see her back down in the South more often. - Авто та транспорт

Dear Hilary
Great filming,thanks for sharing.
Couldn't get to see it yesterday. Planning see the end of southern steam special this coming Friday.
Michael
Ah, a shame you missed her. I’m hoping to see her again on Friday, but minus the car, so I won’t get to so many places . Enjoy Friday! 😊 Hilary
Excellent video Hils I must say your technique with your equipment has come on leaps and bounds since I subscribed yonks ago
Thank you, Robert. That’s very kind of you to say. I’m still getting used to a new tripod, which is more sturdy, so less wobble I hope. With hardly anything to film in the last year, I did get rather out of practice, especially with the zoom button, but hopefully improving that again. 😊 Hilary
Fantastic video!
Cheers, Henry! 😊 Hilary
Awesome footage, 35018 always draws a crowd when down South.
Thanks, Callum. I wish BIL was down here more often. 😊 Hilary
Well let me put it to you this way, 2016 saw quite a few 10A engines go down south for a while due to...
A. The landslide on the Settle to Carlisle line meaning that the majority of WCRC tour schedule in the north went completely balls up.
2. A lack of motive power in south to run tours for Steam Dreams and Railway Touring Company.
Considering Southall hasn't exactly been crawling with engines recently, you might be lucky. 😉
I was on board - what a fab experience!
It’s great to travel by steam on the main line. Glad you enjoyed your day 😊 Hilary
Very great video Hils :)
Thank you, Simon. 😊
What a great day you had Hilary chasing BIL around. Some great locations and scene setting too. Not much coming this way at the moment, but I keep looking and hoping :) Cheers, Brian
Thank you Brian. There’s a trip to Hastings on Saturday which runs your way. 😊 Hilary
Thank you Hilary @@hilsthetrainlady4683 . I'd spotted that on Rail Advent, but wasn't aware of the routing. I'll take a look - and thanks again for the heads up :)
Thanks for your admirable addition to the feast for the eyes and ears that BIL’s return south has turned out to be. All the best on your travels.
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. 😊 Hilary
Amazing video you put a lot of hard work into it..well done..
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. 😊Hilary
Still playing catch up, but love it all the same, thanks.
Thanks, Robert 😊 Hilary
Its 35018 that’s flying high with the Bournemouth belle
This was the Bournemouth Express. Bournemouth Belle rail tour is tomorrow 😊
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 yeah
A Southern locomotive on Southern rails She looks good.
Thanks, Roy. Seeing BIL down in the south is quite a treat for us! 😊 Hilary
Effortless , running despite the diesel assist on the tail end , Steam has always ruled and forever will !
She was running beautifully, Danny. I don’t think the diesel was doing anything in my shots, but was needed to head the turning manoeuvre from Bournemouth to Southampton, and to pull loco and carriages back out of Victoria at the end of the day. 😊 H
It’s actually 35018 not 5318
Yes. Typo. I’ve corrected it on the UA-cam page, but can’t face re doing the whole film again to correct the opening screen 🥴🥴 Oh well!
@@hilsthetrainlady4683 okay
Where she belongs!
Indeed. We don’t see enough of her in the South, sadly.
I am so out of touch these days. I did not know she had finally been restored to running order. I possess a blurred monochrome photo from 1966 of her on a Bournemouth express, at Clapham Jct. with my then, primitive, camera.
