I found it super interesting that the .5 second exposure wouldn't wreck the whole image like it would in a daytime shot. Shows I still have lots to learn!
I've learnt so much from this video...... I've always felt so scared of flash shots and of not being good enough (or even being frightened of asking someone more professional than me to help because I don't want to look stupid) ....but I can't thank you enough for showing the simplicity of the shots and how to trial things and have fun with images!!! Could you tell us how you get good shots at a wedding, when taking pictures od people sitting at a round tables (let's say ten people around it). Which lense, what distance, which aperture? Would you consider turning your presets into a mobile version for lightroom? I know not all of the modules are available, so tweaks would have to be made on your end, but I'm in love with the look of them so much... So much so, that I'm actually in the process of re-editing all of my prior family photographs to have a consistent edit for future album creations. I would love to be able to apply your presets to my travel photos when I'm not able to edit on the computer.
Hey Chris! Awesome video as usual - love your content! Do you use the ad200's for the first dance crosslighting, or do you use a single flash on camera like you do for general dancing (obviously without the shutter drag technique). Love the presets btw - bought both the V3 and originals :)
Hey Chris, question...I'm pretty new to flash, and I had assumed the Godox AD200 was a continuous light (like the CameTV lights), but have ben told it's just a flash...so when you set up on stands behind the speaker, in front of the bridal table, across the floor etc, is it going off only when you hit the shutter? So not on all the time like a continuous light?
It’s not a video light no. Flash is always just flash. Continuous light is a different thing entirely. You have to shoot like you normally would so you can freeze motion with continuous lights. Only flash
@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer Ok, so no need to be concerned about it being a continuous light or not then, because ill be using it for speeches, dancefloor, and then creative style shots, so I guess as long as it triggers remotely, I am fine? I already have 2 x GODOX TT685s speedlites, which I use primarily for on camera flash (dancefloor mainly)...so thinking of keeping one of these for on camera, and getting the 2 x AD200 on stands to set up as off camera during reception! Thoughts?

@@ChrisTurnerPhotographer I kind of have, and have spoken to others in the industry, but they tend to be videographers, so they obviously want continuous light, not flash. Based on this video (and speaking to HYPOP...a camera gear store), the AD200 should easily help me work a reception and create a bit of depth (as opposed to what I do now, which is just boost my ISO and get the speaker exposed that way).
Newbie here . I didn’t realise you could set a focus distance on manual ? Is that done on the manual ring that goes to infinity? Love your content mate

This is like the Harry and Meghan photo of them in the rain holding an umbrella. But I'm not sure how they got that lighting in the background because it's not set up shot. it's a more candid shot. I do love these types of photographs.

Only when using flash anyway. Think of the flash as a seperate exposure to the rest of the image.

Prob doesn’t matter too much cause you’re using flash but maybe 1/60-1/250

I don’t usually but I have before, works perfectly fine if your close enough. Like an 80cm octa will work fine

I don’t think so, but not sure. I think I’m just lucky. Really what you should do is just put a plastic bag over it but I always forget
