- A single AI Learns to play 4 different Mario Kart Wii Tracks, using Deep Reinforcement Learning. The AI takes on Moo Moo Meadows, SNES Ghost Valley 2, SNES Mario Circuit 3, and DS Yoshi Falls.
This is my third AI Mario Kart Wii video, so be sure to check out my channel if you haven't seen those.
Really great vid, interesting to see the AI’s growth and it was very helpful to learn how you get the AI to actually play the game, I was wondering about that !
Does the AI know the cows are there to avoid in Moo Moo Meadows or is it getting lucky when swerving?
During training, the AI hit the cows many times! It was only through hitting many cows that it slowly learned that it needed to avoid them
The AI gets a screencap every frame, so it knows everything a player would, plus a little extra.
Its 3 am and I'm supposed to be writing and coding XD. Great video, AI is always interesting.
I've been there trust me! Thanks!
This is super cool and well done! Could you try giving # of mini turbos as a reward for the AI to incentivize more human-like driving?
I actually used this in an earlier video! It definitely resulted in more mini-turbos so I should probably re-add it, sometimes it does turbo into walls and stuff as a result though!
Wow, this AI guy plays a lot of games.
Glad I found this channel. This is very interesting stuff
Glad you think so!
i think the requirment for an ai to be a master at mario kart (wii or any mario kart) is for it to master each track one at a time. then when it is able to complete every course in the game, it should be able to beat every track back to back.
By the end, I can definitely say that AI plays MKWii better than me
this is something I wanted to try myself a while ago, never did it tho. Looking forward for your next video
Thanks! New video has been a long time in the making, but should be coming very soon
Cool
Why is there a 5+ second delay at the beginning of each track?
Instead of having the AI start normally with the 3,2,1, I just had them going at full speed. The 3,2,1 thing while learning extends the process a little as its so different from the rest of the course
I’d say being able to make it through each track somewhat, makes it able to play Mario kart, not just play one really well and not be able to do the others at all
Yeah that's what I was going for, I wanted to see if an AI could "really" play Mario Kart! I plan on doing a similar video sometime in the future since I'm now using a much more powerful setup/AI than was used in this video!
it should win a worldwide race vs real people. then it will be able to play mario kart wii
I would love to see an AI in a worldwide, however I may have trouble since it’s quite different to racing vs the game’s ai!
@@aitango itd need to learn all 32 tracks, as well as better miniturboing, and item usage. I think itd take like 500 hours instead of 150 because after each track the next ones would be faster to learn.. maybe. Problem is item usage would take a long time to learn. Checking to see you have a green sheel and knowing u can use that to block an incoming red shell (as well as every other item use) would probably be too long to learn without a super computer. Altho maybe it can win without items if it drives well enough.
How well does the AI generalize from 4 tracks? I'd be interesting if you let this trained model play all the other tracks to see if there are any it does well on.
All will be revealed in my next video!
@@aitango This is a great series. I'm looking forward to it.
But how would this AI fare on a completely unknown circuit?
Kool :), u shuld make the ai dude play rainbow road for da funni
Already done it! Check out my video AI Learns Rainbow Road!
@@aitango oh u did, didn’t knew that ima go watch it
