Thanks to Steve and his Family, Cora went from a lost unwanted pup to full blown UA-cam Star machine shop dog 🤩🥳
Yeah😁
Sweet! Every good dog deserves to find their family of humans.
I didn't know Stan was even in town. Awesome that he stopped by and paid you a visit. Also good you were able to help out your friend making that part.
Steve, the small things show a man’s true character. Even though you have a lot of things that need done in a days time… you always stop and give your animal friends a moment of your time. I wish more people were as caring and kind as you are. Not only to animals… but to other humans too. You’re truly a great person Steve. Stay amazing friend.
Summer bash theme is from my wife that always watches with me "Take It To The Limit" Thanks Steve great video this week and every week!
Back in Black! Bar Z Bash! Thats the new Slogan!
I'm saying this for people that don't have a machine shop available to them, so that they can be encouraged to fix stuff. There are lots of things that can be done with relatively simple tools. An average man with a welder , a drill press and an angle grinder could make that part for what it is. Although it wouldn't be nearly as pretty or accurate. It's just a bracket for a hydraulic valve lever...the acceptable tolerances involved are pretty wide. I do have a machine shop in my garage, so I'm not denigrating anything that Steve did, at all. But we all have to start somewhere, and this is one of those projects that literally can be made from a piece of flat steel and a piece of black pipe, and you could probably delete the black pipe. The large center hole is just clearance for the rod that sticks out of the valve. The only critical dimensions are the distance from the pivot point to the 4 mounting holes, and even that would probably function perfectly fine within 1/16" tolerance. It might not look the same but function perfectly and stronger than the original. Think about how you can make that part with the tools you have, it's a good exercise for problem solving.
“Feeling luck punk, try and make it” would be a funny name for Stan’s meet.
Good morning Summers family and Summers fans! From Dorset, UK.
Looks like you had a Big Friendly Giant in your workshop. Stan seems like a nice guy.
For a motto, I went with that great literary machinist, Shakespeare:
'Parting is such sweet sorrow'
Best wishes, Dean in Oxfordshire, UK.
Replication is great practice for any machinist! There's so many ways to do things. LOVE the choices you made here.
Definitely fit for purpose and (of course) that's what matters.
You and Cora loading firewood is like Mr. Rogers taking off his shoes.
I love seeing the metal shaper in use, there's something delightfully archaic about using one in this day and age. Because we can. Strangely relaxing to watch it in action too.
Agreed! I work next door to a small job CNC shop. Probably would have whipped 10 of these out in less time, but where's the fun in that?
"when the going gets tough" great theme idea IMO
Love your stuff, Steve. Slogan....BYOW! BRING YOUR OWN WATER!
The Summer Bash(The driest but funniest bar in the states)=Good excuse for giving the ol girl a road trip and Elizabeth plus some lovely content opportunities. 👌 👏🏴👍
“Machinist in our midst” a 0lay on Gorillas of the mist, is my entry for the summer bash.
2023 summer bash..... git it up!
As a Gunsmith I can attest to removing material , I am astounded at how fast fine polish on a soft wheel can remove metal or roll over a edge (if your not careful)AND equally amazed at how long it takes to remove material when you want to remove material.
LoL, that is the way it seems to work
Steve
Your draw ties on your hoodie are scaring the crap outta me!
Hello Elizabeth. It is always nice to see your lovely countenance in these videos.
Been living my machining dreams vicariously through machining videos on YT for years now and… saw a new way of centring on the lathe today. The road of learning goes on forever :)
Lovely trip through the machining stations today, thanks!
Two great UA-camrs in one spot.
How about this for a motto. " Why the bleep not? "
Hi Steve. Hi Viewers. I’m not doing so well… but I truly hope all of you are. Love you all 🙏
Hopefully things get better for you bud. 🙏 I appreciate you watching
Wishing..get well soon
Good luck friend, hope things get better. Chin up and try to look at the good things.
Its nice to see the boys all hanging out........ Nothing Better Then Boys with There Toys.... so much fun
Paul that might be a good motto for the bash ?
This year it's, "Standing at the Bar." Guaranteed a good time this year, as always.
I jiust heard this on the Tonight Show. I think perfect title for the Summer Bash. "If it ain't broke, don't break it"
+1
When the machining get tough the Tough get to machining .
Nice one
Modo : DoAll Or Nothing Jamboree! Steve's x4 speed. Let the Buck Rogers sound effect commence.
Thank"s Steve for the content. For the Bar Z bash, Dog day afternoon, for Cora.

Great work! For the Bash: 'They said it couldn't be done'
Saturday morning, Steve has a project with a story backing it up, and me and my coffee have a wonderful time watching! [EDIT] I'm torn between the shop and truck builds, but I lean toward the shop, because that is when I found your channel.
good to see Al, hope he's fit and well. Take care
Saturday morning is now complete. Having a cup of coffee watching Steve, doesn't get any better than that. Thanks as always n hopefully see you next Saturday.
Thanks buddy😄🙌
Thanks for another great Video Steve. My effort for the Bash motto "Just milling around"
For all of us who can only dream of making the trip to the Bash, the motto should be California Dreaming.
Summer Bash suggested motto:
"Tramming for Life"
That was a bit ironic! Just this week I thought about contacting you to make me a small press fixture about the same size as the part you made. I was laid up from a blood clot in my leg, and not enough room to navigate my walker through the garage to do it myself!
For Stan ... Summer Bash 2023 ... It will freeze over again!
Send me a email Jim. I would help you with anything you need buddy.
You had too much fun ! Great video, thank you !
Throughout history, A Workshop is their Castle. Never let that be forgotten. We see Elizabeth in yours Steve to help you. You literally built your castle yourself with a little ladies help.
Just water under the bridges (motto). 👍👏👏👏
Stan is a great guy. Had fun at the bash
Steve I have one for you can't never could do nothing this is Bob from Vero Beach Florida God bless stay safe stay warm and have a great week
This is Bill using my wife's phone.
I love it when you use the shaper. I'm old enough to have used one at my first job and I just loved it. I also ran a planer with a 28 foot bed, but it wasn't as much fun as the shaper.
Also love your new shop pup.
Nice job Steve. A slogan for Stan. BarZ Summer Bash " It's better than a good time" y'all take care.
Great to see Al again, I was wondering last week how he was getting on as he hasn't been on camera
Summer Bash 2023
Fishtails and Chips
Definitely illustrates why so many parts are cast or stamped. Though definitely superior in every important way the cost and time penalties in machining these kinds of parts would drive the cost of tools up beyond the reach of all but the wealthiest of people.
When the tough going gets tough, get going.
Summer Bash motto: Chips Ahoy
Thanks Steve for all your time a effort sharing,..Must credit you Steve with Stan's slogan "where the monkey meets the machine" your own words.
my suggestion for the bash is 'The mighty chip sling'
I’m surprised you don’t have a 3d printer in a corner somewhere. Million and two uses. Custom specific shaped soft jaws, templates, caps, knobs, sacrificial supports, filming accessories…. segmented squid toys to go on the bench.
Hope yall are doin good and stayin warm.
Love that center punch indication method around 27:00. Always enjoy what you share with us.
Chips off the block for summer bash motto
Bar z bash 2023, machinist dont die, we multiply! Great video as always!
There’s two great things about a shaper: they use cheap, resharpenable tools and they’re so easy to clean up after. Glad to be back on machining content, but thanks for ALL your videos, I know they’re not easy to make.
Steve AND Stan AND Al all in the same video! This is one to remember!
Cheers from Wichita.
Steve when i had a lathe with that headstock taper lock i used a big wood cradle under the chucks to catch them so they didnt drop, that way i didn't need to hold it up. I keyed the wood with a vee notch also
Just done the same.
Great job Steve thanks for sharing
I'm always really impressed with how sharp your drills are.
I try to keep them sharp. If I dull one I take it to the grinder and touch it up.
Thank you for sharing. Very nice job on the bracket.👍
you sir are the G.O.A.T
Oh how I love these one-off jobs. No repetition! Any more than 3 is just plain rude. Ahh, The shaper, The one most misunderstood tool in the job shop. There are some things they are just sooooo good at. I expanded my set of transfer punches to one inch by using Gr 8 bolts and taking the heads off and after turning the thread less ends to a point the same as the set I torch and oil hardened the pointed ends (with used gear oil). 40+ years and still marking like the day they were made. How wonderful it is to see Stan. I had forgotten all about the bash. It would be a 3 or 4 day drive for me to get there. Flying with a wheelchair sucks. They already lost mine once for 3 days before I got it back. What a neat lathe setup. using a flexible tool to indicate to is nothing short of brilliant my friend. I normally move the apron down and move the tailstock over it, do the drilling and move things back up until now that is. Saw files eh, I use the same flat file for doing the rakers to do the teeth. That way I only have one file for everything. On a skip tooth chain they are wicked ! How nice to see Elizabeth in the shop. It's been a bit since we have seen her. So bud, MAKING IT BETTER is why we do this. Take care eh.
excellent job!!
Very cool project.
Another great video
Good job, also I like having Cora in the video.
That was cool.
Another great video Steve, Thanks.
Good job Steve.
the finish on the shaper tool, amazing!
Nice work Steve!
You did very well👍
good video steve,,thanks for your time
excellent work mate
Freakin love Stan. So great to see him stop by.
I love to see the old tools making good parts. They are gold in my book.
Awesome as Always Great content always good to see Al.
Slogan... Summer Squirrel Run.
Great job
Afternoon Steve! Nice to see the shaper in action again. Thanks for sharing 👍
Great job ! Cant wait to see what Al brought this time!
Great job!
Really enjoyed this episode Steve. Love watching when you use so many of these great machines! Also, nice job on the part.
Good stuff
Made the identical part for my dad's log splitter recently. Nice job!
Love it Stevo, I watch a man using all his machines and tools to make something from nothing over a robotic cnc all day!
Even better is when he uses a particular machine (I'm talking about you, shaper) not because it's the fastest or cheapest but because it's the most fun at the moment.
Stan dropping in was really cool. He's done so much for machining education.
Nice work! You have improved on the original and removed the failure mode! Well done!
I've come up with a motto for life in general, and it works well for me. "Expect the worst, Accept the best!"
That's one small step for Stan, one giant leap for Stankind!
Thanks for the education. I think it is a good thing showing a different way of producing the same thing. Thanks Ron
Awesome work and as an amateur machinist I learnt a lot. Cheers, Stuart 🇦🇺
Bar Z. Rise of the machinists.
That was the fastest shaper I ever saw
Nice job making a part for your friend. Hey man projects often have interesting challenges.
Please pull the strings out of your hoodie.
I made many of those for Gresen valves on roll off trucks. Those just had a tab on a flat plate. I stacked 8 pieces up, welded them together, used an annular cutter to drill the center holes, a drill press to drill the outer 4 holes and welded a piece of key stock to make the tab after taking the stack apart.
Nice job Steve! I made a similar piece on a smaller scale for a trailer hydraulic pump. Mine did not have the center ring and I used 6061 aluminum instead. I think you nailed it with the two piece design! Really enjoyed the video!
Nice little job. As for Stan's motto: Here, hold my beer...
