I was blessed to tour Ben's ranch around 2004. He is still one of my favorite actors. He turned down parts because he refused to use foul language. Rest in the Peace of our Lord, Ben.
If you are watching the start of a western and Ben Johnson's name is in the introduction credits..... you're in for an AUTHENTIC western. R. I. P. WORLD CHAMPION COWBOY BEN🐴 JOHNSON
I've visited the Ben Johnson Cowboy Museum and Ben's grave in Pawhuska, OK, at the same time they were filming Killers of the "Flower Moon" (just by coincidence). Both are well worth a visit. Ben was a great actor who could hold his own with the likes of John Wayne; he well deserved his Oscar win. This is a great little ballad, honoring one of our finest cowboys/actors.
Ben Johnson was one hell of a fine cowboy. And who doesn't like the "acting" Ben did in all the movies he's featured in? Ben was truly one-of-a-kind. Thank you for this video salute to one of my favorite actors. Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Hawaii.
Ben Johnson and Slim Pickens were a discount for what the movie industry paid them for. Triple threat for acting, action, and technical ability. "You mean I get paid to do what I do for free" - Slim Pickens
Thank you! I’m a Kansas Gal and Ben Johnson is my favorite actor. His values were what I admire as much as his horsemanship and skill in acting. There’s just “something” about we middle Americans values.
Nicely done. To hear Ben Johnson talk reminded me of being back home. I never did feel comfortable with people who talked too fast. At least it felt too fast for me. You just don't need a lot of words or to say them to fast to mean what you say and make it stick.
Second row of cowboys, last one on the far right end sure looks like my grandfather John Wesley O'Hanlon. 1898-1963. He owned one of if not the biggest farm outside Durant, Oklahoma until his death in 1962. He always wore khaki shirts and pants and a cowboy hat just like that one in the picture. Rolled his own smokes and usually had a Bull Durham tag hanging out of that shirt pocket. I was a kid growing up in OK City, but got two weeks every summer on grand dads farm. Man I miss it still, horses, mules, pigs, chickens, milk cows, and one mean old bull. Fishing in ponds, chasing possums at night, trying to hit barn rats with sling shots, and shocking little brother with the electric cattle prod. What a life!
Westerns wouldn't have been even Close too Authentic. Without The Real Deal feller's like Mr Ben JohnSon too give them the Real Deal. Ahh Shucks Mam 😁☺️ I'm just Tyre from Texas. IT'S Plum nice too Meet You, Mam. TKS.
Man o man I love him so he was jonh Wayne buddy and mine to I lovee Ben watch al his movie and I will watch them again again and again thank 🙏 🙌 👏 ❤!!++
Ben Johnson was a great cowboy along with his friend harry carey jr were far better actors than John Wayne they made his films and they were better looking
My uncle Hippy Burmister roediwd with Buck Jones and Yakima Cannutt . They would go to Hollywood and work the movies in the winter. He was C friends with Ben Johnson because they worked together and Ben had married Hones’ daughter. I met at my Uncles ranch in Modoc county CA. when I was 5. Had the biggest crush on him until the day he died.
Well I'll be this was just fine, Ben Johnson did what the good Lord wanted him to be a Cowboy and horsemen nothing fancy for him but, Ben J was fancy he did not try to be something he was not, that's what made him special. Just be your self life is less complacent that way.
Well I was wrong it's wasn't Slim picking but my dad was the same too he never cursed wouldn't talk to anybody if they cursed because my dad said the guy don't have no class and Ben was all class here's what you call a Class Act
I like John Wayne as an actor, and he made a pretty good cowboy. But Ben was a horseman, and it showed in the easy way he sat a horse. The dynamic between him and John Wayne is Chisum is one of my favorites.
Ben Johnson was the real deal. One of the very best of the greatest generation.
Ben Johnson was a real cowboy, and I enjoyed every moment when he was on the screen
I love any movie with Ben Johnson in it. He was the Real McCoy!
I thought that was Walter Brennan. 😉
I was blessed to tour Ben's ranch around 2004. He is still one of my favorite actors. He turned down parts because he refused to use foul language. Rest in the Peace of our Lord, Ben.
Ben Johnson was a Great Horseman and Western Actor Gone but not forgotten. Wonderful Ballad of Ben ( Son ) Johnson

He was a real cowboy no denying that
Ben was one of my favourite actors, he was one of the finest riders in Hollywood, he had a great career. 4:44
Ben Johnson was truly one of a kind, a
great horseman and actor.
Excellent...thank you....a western without him is hardly a western.

Saw him (Ben Johnson) introduce Gene Autry at Rawhide in Scottsdale Arizona

Good song about Ol'e Ben Johnson...

Ben Johnson was a fine actor! None like him and never will be...
I've got to go to Pahuska, Oklahoma. Ben Johnson is a legend
That's when Cowboys have class Ben Johnson never cursed
One of the Gorch Brothers, rode with Pike & Dutch. Starred in the greatest movie ever made - the Wild Bunch.
Fine song about a fine Cowboy.
He made many o the movies he was in. Without him they would not have been Westerns. He was a consummate actor as well. He was great in Shane.
I always liked Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson was a true cowboy also Slim Pickens, a clown in the circus.
Slim Pickens was a rodeo clown but I never heard about him being a circus clown
Just a class act all around ❤
Man o man I love him so he was jonh Wayne buddy and mine to I lovee Ben watch al his movie and I will watch them again again and again thank 🙏 🙌 👏 ❤!!++
Two great cowboys from Oklahoma. Ben Johnson and Sheb Wooley. Both were talented and real.
Ben Johnson was a great cowboy along with his friend harry carey jr were far better actors than John Wayne they made his films and they were better looking
It has become the "in" thing for pseudo-intellectuals to heap scorn upon John Wayne.

Ben Johnson, Gentelman Cowboy.
Thank you!
One of his most poignant scenes, and I wish I could find it, was his "Old Man" monologue from "Bite the Bullet".
Ben was a damn good Cowboy. Very nice man too. He got a lot of respect from the people of Hollywood even though he never really was one of THEM.
Ben and Harry caries Jr the real deal cowboys enjoyed the real deal
👍👍

Slim Pickens singing that song
Well I was wrong it's wasn't Slim picking but my dad was the same too he never cursed wouldn't talk to anybody if they cursed because my dad said the guy don't have no class and Ben was all class here's what you call a Class Act
Sounded Like Kenny Rogers.
Michael Martin Murphy. Not in the credits, possibly he wanted it that way?
Ben Johnson was worth $100,000,000 when he died. Made it mostly in real estate investments.
Ben Johnson was a far better actor than John Wayne he and Harry Carey jr made John Wayne’s pictures❤️❤️
I like John Wayne as an actor, and he made a pretty good cowboy. But Ben was a horseman, and it showed in the easy way he sat a horse. The dynamic between him and John Wayne is Chisum is one of my favorites.
