- / bikemanforu How to install the SunLite seatpost bicycle rack using shims. Free shipping at www.bikemanforu... This utility beam rack with pannier mount is made of tubular 6061 aluminum alloy. It features a quick release retention system, accepts side panniers, and boasts a maximum capacity of 22 pounds. The rear rack clamp fits 25mm - 32mm diameter posts, which is just about any bicycle seat post. The rack also is built with a rear mount to accept a reflector or light. Being a seat post mount, the rack is a great fit for a bike with disc brakes or that doesn't have braisons or fork eyelets. It comes with rubber shims in three thicknesses. Get free shipping when you buy bit.ly/12VQFcn In this product instructional video, UA-cam's how-to guru of bicycle repair begins installation by removing the seat post from his bicycle, noting that all seat posts are marked on the bottom with the diameter. Then he moves into guess-and-test mode, trying each shim inside the rack clamp for the right fit. He shows a neat little trick on inserting the shim into the rack mount and sliding it onto the post. With the selected shim installed inside the rack clamp, he slides the seat tube through the clamp and re-inserts it back into the seat tube of the bicycle, tightening the seat clamp with a three-way allen key. He then adjusts the rack into place on the seat post and finger tightens it into place. Whoo's! He's decided the fit is too loose. He likes the fatter shim. The seat post is removed and the rack uninstalled. The fatter shim is rolled and poised above the seat clamp on the rack. Then he takes the seat post presses down lightly, sliding slide both the post and shim inside the rack mount clamp. "I've got the fatter one in. We're not going to have a problem now...If you needed to, you could beef it up with something else...I've used pieces of a laundry bottle, an orange juice carton." The idea with this installation is to make the accessory fit using the installation kit and your own ingenuity. That's the BikemanforU school way of bicycle repair. That hairstyle has to be one of the most epic things I've ever seen!
Got my T-shirt yesterday! great guy and cool shirt! one less car is good for everyone. Less oil used, less congestion on the highway, more exercise, and save money. Thats a win win win win!
I ride a fixed gear and was wondering what these would fit like on one or a road bike frame. Looks good
You guys have too much fun making these videos!
Awesome! really really helped! Saludos from Laredo, Texas
thanks for the vid, i had this rack and it was pretty functional. just wanted to mention you inserted the QR lever on the wrong side and when you 'closed' the lever to tighten you were actually opening it :) at the beginning of the vid the lever was installed on the left not the right, the same side as the instruction leaflet.
strips of innertube work great as well as shims too!!
Hey Odi, why don't you try to make it to one of Bikeman's live shows? There is beer with Bikeman at 5:15 PM EST which is about 12 hours behind Indonesia. But there is also a youtube show on the weekends through our day.
We would love to discuss economies and price differences between where you are and the US, especially where Bikeman lives. I am not sure if you are trolling about the prices but you seem like a respectable guy. Come join us!
I love this style rack. However, problem is no matter what you do with the installation, the rack won't tighten enough and will still move from side to side. Only solution? Get it professionally welded. Problem solved. Again this is a great style rack.
Does welding work on aluminum frame too?
@@유지태-l9s Yes, by a professional.
how do you rap the bungee cord that comes with it on the rack, please help
Looking for a rack for a Day6 bicycle. The dealer sold one didn’t work. Any suggestions? Thanks
Mine, with 25 mm slot, sways side to side, NEXT bike
Good video. That rack looks just like Schwinn 1 available at Walmart.

Hey bikeman ever notice how Bicycle acessories are always named after horseback riding accesories? saddle, panier, etc. Always wondered who started that.
I would use a regular bolt in place of that quick release.
Hey Bikeman I have been watching your videos for a few days and loving them. I was thinking about adding a rack to my bike but putting a milk crate on it for store runs and ect. I was wondering can a milk crate fit on the post rack and not hit the seat or would you recommend a different rack that is longer/wider.
I have one similar to this on my FUSO ... nice for groceries on a store food run...
mine has a clip on Ballistic Zip Bag that fits on top and removes easy
Itbigdog- I have this exact rack and it won't fit a crate it would be right against the seat but that being said it is a great rack
Can you attach child seat to the rack?
What tool is that called that you are using?
This bike is so nice!! How much it costs at US? We dont have it in brazil too bad.
Where I live ghetto bike thieves steal treks and leave giants behind.

The cat is in the vid today too!!
So that's it. I did not know about The Bikeman's hamster!

Cursing always works for me!

+Bobby Blunts Its Pannier And Its Basically A Bag For A Bike Rack.
Yes they do. You are todays winner. PM me your address and T-shirt size
detergent bottle, thanks.
I know, I know, I KNOW ... "Where you live this rack cost Fifty cents and you would give them $0.25 to install it.
BIKEMAN, I realise you are busy, I realise there may be things on your mind, however.. PLEASE smile after your sign-offs! There's nothing worse than a great video in your usual charming manner, only to end with a face like you've been told your hamster has diabetes. The final frame in the video is the last one people see, and so makes a surprisingly strong impression. SMILE! things could be much worse!
I was just relieved to see a post where Odi was positive and not trolling.
Is Indonesia socialist? ;-)
Because you forced me to watch this I WILL NEVER BUY AND MAKE SURE NOBODY I KNOW BUYS THIS
That quick release is absolutely useless
Meh, you usually get what you are worth!
Ha, probably. The might put in some helium in the tyres to save that extra .00067g
Complete Muppet!
