I've had the C5L on my Ruger SR40 for about 6yrs now and absolutely love it. I however just ordered the X5L laser just because the fact that it also has a built in HD camera and mic along with the laser and flashlight. figure if I ever do need to use pistol in a self defense situation that camera footage along with the sound could exonerate me from any wrong doing.
I have a similar set up with a Crimson Trace laser guard pro [ light /laser combo] on my shield 2.0 . The biggest advantage of lasers is the ability to shoot from compromised positions. Crimson Trace is a great company. Their products are expensive but customer service is fantastic. I had a laser stop working after 3 years and they replaced it new , without question. They hold zero even after 100's of rounds.
That is my EDC pistol config nowadays, but no light. Just the green laser. We always carry at least 1 flashlight, and prefer to operate light and pistol independently. Then again, we trained that way for decades. We gun mount lights on our ARs and home def shotgun, but not our pistols.
Nice light machine Kevin. I put a lasermax unit on my shield 45 that seems to have pretty much the same features except turning on/off. It can be set up to turn on by proximity switch when your hand is near the trigger or just turn it on manually. One feature I like about this one you had on the video is how it shuts off when returned to holster. Thanks for sharing.
I like light/laser combo on my firearms for all those reasons Kevin mentioned. If you can make the bad guy flinch/wince, question "what's happening?" or fall down for just a second or two to give you the advantage an its totally worth it!!!! Great training Kevin!
The activation system from holster is an interesting gadget. I prefer to keep my systems as simple and rugged as possible. If I were thinking, "I sure hope I don't forget...." that would tell me that I had not rehearsed it enough. How do you remember to pull the trigger or do a tactical reload? How do you remember a level 1 malfunction drill? You don't. They are automatic responses based on external stimuli or you lose critical time "remembering." I went with the Crimson Trace Laserguard even though my EDC pistol comes in an integrated laser model from the same mfg, because I have to "remember" to turn the LG off, not on. So sort of the same thing as this Viridian combo. Difference is that mine works that way with or without the holster. For a duty gun, that Viridian set up is very attractive.
@@USCCAOfficial Presbyopia. ARRRGG! Getting old sucks. LOL That's why I went to the laser at all. So not with my EDC pistol. All laser now. I can still shoot full size pistols with good sights "well enough" in a pinch, but sub-compacts + low light put me in 5" group at 50 ft territory without a laser and the laser gets me back down to sub-3" groups.
I use a green. Viridian, laser on my carry and love it. It allows much quicker target acquisition and, as stated, allows target acquisition from compromised positions. Not only do I not believe it renders you incapable of using your iron sites, I actually believe it accomplished the opposite to some extent, i.e. removes the need for the sights even if the laser is not working. See, muscle memory is an incredible thing and your brain's ability to triangulate target location is pretty amazing in and of itself. Reinforce this with laser training in odd positions and you'll find that you'll be more likely to hit a target from a weird position when you cannot use your iron sights even without the laser. Stressed or knocked on your ass or injured and forced to use your weak hand, I'll take and use the aid of my laser every time.
I keep a light on my bedside Glock. Also have a light/laser combo on my 9mm SBR just inside the closet. These tools are great for being on the winning side of a home invasion gun fight if you practice them. All of the different EDC gun are strictly iron sights. I practice more with those systems and they carry much more comfortable than guns with lights. I do carry and practice with a small Steamlight flashlight as part of my EDC in the event of a night fight.
Where to get it and what should be a decent price? My wife's EDC has a Viridian Green and I use the small tactical light on mine. Thanks for the info and keep'em coming.
I didn’t read the rest of the comments on here, but I don’t know if anyone else mentioned this, but when you demonstrating your laser lights to your audience, don’t point the light directly at the camera we can see pointed at the wall and demonstrated so we cant see a dark wall, not a white wall as well
I prefer my Streamlight TLR-2 HL G and only have it with the light on as I’m currently using a Trijicon RMR and don’t want a red dot along with a green laser. If I need it I can switch it on with my support hand thumb. Works great!
Lasers and lights can be useful, for sure. I don't think it's a great idea to have them come on with every draw, unless there's a way to deactivate that from happening before you draw, if the situation calls for it. I don't think that's the case with this set-up. I think I'd prefer to run it the other way, where I have to remember to turn it on if I want it on. As with everything else gun related, with enough training, I don't think one would forget. However, depending on the size/location of the switch, one might find that reduced fine motor skills in a stressful situation might make this more difficult.
Just for research. I need to wait until next year. New hunt coming up in Texas, I won, and I need to save for the meat processing fee and a different rifle.
I like having the option to use either if I wanted or needed to. Better to have and not need than the other way around. The holster setup, though cool, I'd rather not have. All situations are unique. Wouldn't want something preset as it could be compromising.
The laser has a batter life of 4 hours if it is constantly running, 7 hours strobing, and 60 min with laser and light activated at the same time, Sendy
Robert, this system is equipped with the laser and light only. It isn't the model that includes the camera. Viridian has several options listed on their website that are equipped with Instant-on. They also have an upgrade kit you can purchase to equip your current holster with Instant-on!
@@USCCAOfficial I'm not sure my pistol I use as a older model P95 so not too much really fits on it like that but I keep my house kind of well-lit even when I'm going to bed like just my room is turned off on the lights I keep a low light throughout the entire house and I have a security dog so creeping into my house would be a huge problem while I was home and you have to kill my dog while I'm gone and I would notice that cuz he greets me every day

Thank you so much for the support, Boomer Music Company! How long have you been using lasers on your firearms?
Where did you get that one at?? I’m looking for that exact same thing. It keeps bringing up the C5L-R. Is that the one?
How would a flashing lazer benefit?
Yes. I have a green viridian and love it. It's also useful for scenarios when you're unable to look down the sites.
Great to hear, Adam!! How often do you get to train with your viridian?
@@USCCAOfficial Monthly. I do most of my training without it so that I never use it as a crutch. When used correctly, I find it's a powerful tool.
That is a good practice to get into, Adam! They are a very useful tool but they can fail so training without the laser is also important.

Thanks for the suggestion, Javier!

I would suggest getting it straight from Viridian. You can access that here: viridianweapontech.com/c5l
I also changed my EDC from a TLR1 to veridians new system with light, laser and camera fits same holster and also has the instant on technology.
That is pretty awesome, Sic Semper Tyrannis!

You make some wonderful points, gb93669. Do you currently have a laser on your EDC?
@@USCCAOfficial No. And I use a hand held light, although I may equip a home defense handgun with its own light.
Sounds like a good plan, gb93669! Have you had some time to check out what brand of light you would get?
I have one and LOVE IT. I also have the Viridian Taclock Holster. INSTANT ON.😎
My Kimber 45 currently has a Crimson Laser that is "on" based on my grip. Looking at a light/laser combo for my S&W and my Springfield Armory.
That's great to hear, Kevin! Did you look into these on Cyber Monday?
Just for research. I need to wait until next year. New hunt coming up in Texas, I won, and I need to save for the meat processing fee and a different rifle.
That sounds like a lot of fun, Kevin! What will you be hunting?
Ferrel pig, unlimited count. Just pay processing. Can bring others (family).
That sounds like a lot of fun, Kevin! Did you mention that you won this trip?
Cool. I'd like to see more about the advantages/disadvantages of features of this system.
They have some great videos explaining the Viridian a little deeper on their website. You can view those videos here: viridianweapontech.com/c5l

We understand that, Boykin! We all have different preferences! :)
Kevin is that an inside the waistband holster?
That is an inside the waistband holster, WildXNature!
@@USCCAOfficial thank you, I wanted to know if it conceals well inside the waistband.
Depending on your build, it should conceal pretty well, WildXNature!
What is the battery life on these?

2 years I replaced 3 times. Range time once a month 1 hr of laser only.
Good information
I would love to one for both my G43 & G42, does the holster come with the laser? Is that the new laser with the camera?

I like both lights and lasers.
Do you carry both a light and a laser daily, Robert?
That's coooool. I keep my pistol naked. I used to keep a light on it. Maybe one day.
That is alright as well, Touched by a 12gauge! Have you looked into what light you would use?

How long have you had the Viridian, Big-H Capone?

Go Fund Me 😬
I like lasers and that's an awesome set up
Is this system going on your Christmas list, MPGunther1? ;)
To be truthful i don't use !lights or lasers on my pistols. I do always have a flashlight on me and a dedicated light beside the pistol at night.
Have you ever had an opportunity to participate in a low-light training course, biguy525?
Police version should have a video camera with audio
