  • I designed and printed my very own Cosplay Caliper based on Nikko Industries foam concept. This makes scaling files for 3D printing much much easier!

This type of caliper is used primarily for sculptors who do busts/head sculpts. Great idea from foam to plastic!

I actually have a vintage set of calipers made for measuring head size. Been using it for a while to help scale. Onething i find it once you have a head measurement, get a model of a human head, scale it to those dimensions, and then put it inside your models to check.

much love for this man, been a little gun shy about doing any large helmet prints on my CR-10 just due to not wanting to use up a lot of material only to have something not fit right, sure these will help, so big thanks to you Nikko and thank you for 3D printafying his idea. =D

If you aren't able to build this, you can also get a wheel rim width caliper. Same concept, and they usually have measurements on them.

I didn't realize pros used TinkerCAD, I only found it because my tech-ed teacher showed it to us so we could use it for assignments, I always thought it was good enough to do better, more professional, things.

could you make a video to explain how to figure out what size you need to shrink a downloaded mask in order to make it fit comfortably? As in measuring the inside points of a model so it fits

  • @The_Other_Dan

Great idea. Unfortunately the STL is too large to print on my Ender 3 and scaling down to fit creates parts that are too flimsy to stay together.

For those without a huge print bed you can get large inside/outside plastic calipers pretty cheaply, not cheaper than filament cost but cheap enough. I got a set with markings up to 350mm (14"ish) for £6.80 on eBay.
