This is awesome. When I do helmets, in Modo, I draw a contour around a mannequin head that I scanned and using a constraint, I can measure my exact head circumference (which is 24in). And my helmets will ALWAYS fit
Leave space to install padding. It will also slow the heat build up. Find a way to have air vents. Which filament could offer the best (impact or blow) protection? or survive a party atmosphere?
Great info just wish I saw it 4 hours ago before I started this 12 hour print :) Currently working on a 90% size F-35 helmet for my son and printing the main shell now out of black PLA to do a test fit but if it works I won't reprint it. This is gonna be a big project though with the X1C handling the larger items and my coming soon Anycubic Photon M7 handling the smaller bits, flexible parts like the oxygen mask and the clear front face shields. Tossed those into the Anycubic Photon Workshop and the fronts will just fit on the resin printer so I'll use some clear resin to print those. Got some hydrodip carbon fiber patterns coming as well to match the real helmet shell patterns. Gonna be epic when it's complete!
Hi Uncle Jesse can you please help me i need your help. I'm trying to print quite tall cylinder shapes on my elegoo saturn and the prints are saying 6hrs but the print is taking 22hrs?? i can't find anyhting on how to setup chitubox for faster printing and i know the Bottom lift speed and lifting speed have a big part to play but i'm to afraid to change these. can you please do a video showing in depth what we can do with these setting for chitubox V1.9.4. thank you so much
Thanks for the video. I was planning on getting a k1 Max for the large build plate but I can’t get of BL’s AMS since I like to print toys out for my kids and nieces/nephews. I can’t decide lol.
Would you please please please do a video on how to print helmets like this on the Elegoo Neptune Pro?? I’m a newbie and kinda lost lol. THanks for all the great videos!👍
Bambu needs to get a 350x350x350 or a 400x400x400 unit out there with a few more improvements to the machine and slicer. If that happens with a sub-$1000 price, they will own the FDM market.
@@jet613If they do make a bigger volume printer the speed will definitely not be as fast as the X1 or P1. But the fact it could do multiple colors it would be worth it! One of the things I didn't like about my X1C with the AMS was when doing multi material prints I noticed the filament was ramming through the PTFE tubing It wasn't causing any issues but I did swap out the PTFE that came stock from the AMS all the way to the extruder for Capricorn tubing Smooooooooth as silk now and although I can't say with 100% certainty that it helped with the filament purging between colors since I swapped out the tubing I've been able to reduce my flushing volumes with no color bleeding what so ever I also noticed since the swap that my 24 minute benchy does not have the little zits in the back I wanted to know why the bottom of the hull on the benchy looked shiny compared to the upper half so I printed it in clear PLA That is simply the infill on the bottom half giving that effect and it looks to be at around 5% infill I'm happy you are enjoying your Bambulab printer, the first one you got was a dud and that sucked I also added LED lights under my AMS which lights up the build area very bright but I leave it off during the calibration process so the lidar doesn't give a false reading
@@austinouellette I ordered 2 meters which is obviously wayyyy more than enough lol The AMS has 4 short lengths, then from the AMS to the hub and then the hub to the back of the printer and finally from the back of the printer to the extruder I cut all lengths to the exact same length as factory so I can measure them up when I get home from work and give you a total length if you like ?

Curious if you've ever used armorsmith for resizing prints? I grabbed a copy a few months ago and it's been great! I don't have an iPhone though nor did I have access to your calliper file back then 😂
Thank you so much for these awesome tips! I've never printed a helmet before so this will definitely speed things up! Random question; do you ever use PETG for your helmet prints?
Depending on the size a helmet like a power ranger will probably fit! You can also download Bambu studio/orca slicer & bring in a helmet file to see how well it would fit
Thank you@@UncleJessy . I actually end up picking up the P1P. Just brought in the helmet file, the top and forehead won't fit at 100% scale, what scale do you recommend?
@uncle Jessy Please mention what filament maker and material you use for this prints, even if you don't mention or add a link.I am order a X1C and I know some Filaments perform poorly on that printer.Thanks.
How affected is the lidar sensor and calibration with the textured build plate, i saw that Bambu had some Cons with regards to using a textured build plate on there site. Is it worth the trade offs ? Thanks 👍🏾
I just looked at this because I wanted to print helmets in a 256mm³ build area, for.... reasons... Where I get stuck with this guide, is that I have a fat head :(
So if you are using your scan of your head why not just scale it to a bigger size and use your head scan to cut the inside of the helmet for a perfect fit?
I have a pre order for the Prusa XL 5 head. But after seeing your videos and others on issues I’m strongly considering cancelling my order and getting the X1C. I’m wanting to print full size helmets and I’m a big guy (6’7”). Would you recommend this printer or keep my preorder for the XL? Really wanting quality, and consistency as well as longevity.
X1 + ams I have a .4 nozzle, my p1p is a .4 nozzle, my 3rd x1 i have a .6 nozzle on there. Honestly with the X1 I havent noticed a massive time savings from going to the .4 to .6. However the prints are a lot thicker/durable
Just started watching your videos. Would be interested in your opinion on purchasing a Bambu Lab X1 now or if you think it's worth waiting another 6 months for them to further fine tune? Maybe I'll find a Bar next to Bambu Labs Headquarters and buy the right talkative employee a few drinks.....
Just ordered a P1P, pretty pumped! Going to take some getting used to that smaller bed vs my trusty old, but HUGE, Chiron. Any suggestions for an Android based Scanner?
So I use my DSLR to take pictures. There is an android app that works pretty good. I think they have a free version but I paid $5. And you can either use the phone app, but I just upload the pictures from a computer browser. So if you don't have a cell phone you can just do that.
Hey Uncle Jessy, quick question. I’m looking to print RC semi truck bodies in 1/14 for projects. I’m looking between the X1C for fan or the Elegoo Jupiter for resin. I like the idea of how smooth the resin printer will print but have read that resin prints aren’t very strong. What would you recommend between the 2 for rc bodies
Those visible layers on the top of the helmet is not ringing, that is not the correct term. Ringing is a a ghosted afterimage of some detail in the print.
To Summarize the video. Bambu Lab X1C, P1P, P1S isn't enough for helmets. Who wants to print in 2 separate object, bind them and sand? too much time wasted
Checkout Bambu Labs Printers bit.ly/BambuLabUJ
that intro showing how to scale for a head scan model is always appreciated. I have to start doing this lol

I literally told him the same thing 😂🤣
Ordered my x1 on friday, can't wait! Thanks Tax Return!
Just got my P1S 😊 This video arrived just in time! Thanks UJ for the awesome content as always!
my question is how does the changes you make apply to the plates since it is split into different parts

I also noticed since the swap that my 24 minute benchy does not have the little zits in the back
I wanted to know why the bottom of the hull on the benchy looked shiny compared to the upper half so I printed it in clear PLA
That is simply the infill on the bottom half giving that effect and it looks to be at around 5% infill
