This is on point. My last attempt at going back in contact. I set boundries, made them very clear to my mother. First off she did the same thing she has always done. Just looked at me. Didn't take long before the envelop was being pushed. I reminded her, again dead stair. It's very effective. It kept me in confused. It's only recently that I've learned about the narcissist term. It's all starting to make sense. The FOG is starting to lift.

In my enmeshed family, I was never allowed to have boundaries. So, think you know the kinds of people that I attracted.

I said there needed to be boundaries regarding his ex girlfriend or our relationship was not going to work....his response included anger and contempt that I would expect such an unreasonable thing. Made my decision to end the relationship very clear. Was one year ago this week I drove away permanently.

My mother is a wicked covert narc. I hate visiting her. I do it out of obligation. She hates that fact that I have boundaries and would ghost me if she didn't need. My sister completely cut me off after I implemented boundaries. She's a shallow a-hole that looks at herself in the mirror all day. I am not at all missing that!! My family is full of narcs. I basically live a life of solitude and peace, far away from all of them Merry Christmas. 🎄

One toxic friend ghosted me when I dared to say no. Another went into a combination of word salad, self pity and projection. She still is not admitting that what she does is wrong. I was low contact with her, but recently went no contact.

I am dealing with a narcissistic friend right now that I am in very low contact with. We do go to church together so it is very difficult to go no contact but there has been silent treatment and then hoovering and then silent treatment and then hoovering and then silent treatment…

Thank you. This video was excellent. It made me think of a Bible scripture that I think really applies here. At 1 Corinthians 15:33 it says, " Do not be misled. Bad associations spoil useful habits." So stay strong survivors.

Here are some different Bible versions of the same verse:
"Don't let anyone deceive you. Associating with bad people will ruin decent people."
"Do not be deceived; evil companionship corrupts good behavior."
"Be not deceived: Evil companionships corrupt good morals.
      "
"Do not be misled: "Bad company corrupts good character."

It is even more than they “hate” boundaries. They will use more than words against you. Because, now they know EXACTLY what your deepest feelings are and will use every tactic against you. Grown step son uses my boundaries to try to cause marital problems. No win situation.

Sanchez, mine is the opposite. I've tested her more than once. First time it was while my husband and I were working full-time and my daughter was young. I waited 2 weeks. When I called her, she didn't even say hello. She said, " I thought I was going to have to call the lawyer". For those that get it. She was saying, I was going to cut you out of the will. She held that over my head for a long time. I have never been motivated by money. Other than what I could do to earn more. The last time I let her know, I could care less about that carrot.

    • @tompetty3742

@I Sanchez I get that too. My dad has been gone over 37 years. They divorced 5/6 years before his. Death, she hated him. Had my brother and I convinced, dad was the cause of all our trauma. He was a WWII vet. He used his GI bill to earn 2 degrees. He was a self taught artist. He did live nudes, in university, on huge sketch book. They have been in her bedroom closet since they were completed. I asked for them. Nope. My dad is in my heart. Screw her and her selfishness.

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Thankyou for sharing your message. Sometimes with setting boundaries it feels worse before it gets better but still worth it. It’s Christmas morning here and I’m spending it alone but I know I am much better off for honouring myself. They threw everyone one of those tactics at me, the flying monkeys said suit yourself and wallow in self pity then , no it’s called self respect. I’m out of the FOG! Wishing you happiness and joy for the holidays 💖✨

My own grandmother is a narcissist, lives over sea, and is the only one in the family who talks to me, bit I realised her contact with me was a control for her son who abused me and ghosted me, last week I missed 2 calls, the 3rd she sent me a hurtful message about my 10 year old, whom she doesn't know, and I decided to ignore any more calls, she then blew up my phone like nothing before, my phone then got hacked and I had to change my number, I think that's spirit saying keep the no contact via phone.

My Narc use to go silent for 3 days when upset with me. I actually enjoyed the silence, because he did say anything that was vallad. I just ignored because my Mom had done this when I was growing up. But after the 3 days were up, he would come up with some wonderful idea ( he thought) would apease me. A blank stare from me was usually my reaction with the comment " WHATEVER", BASICALLY telling him not interested .He became apauling to me as time went by. I just let him be the Jerk he was. Thanks Jill!

My oldest brother was a narcissist who I had to set boundaries on because he was so hateful to me at family gatherings and in public. I was tired of 30 years of lies, vicious innuendo, and public shaming that he pulled every time I ran into him. As a result of me avoiding him, he started telling anyone who had an association with me that I was a pedophile.
I'll just leave that right there because it still pisses me off. Thankfully, no one believed him. When I confronted him about it he acted like it was the best joke ever. He didn't care.
Fortunately for the world he committed suicide in 2000 at age 55. His empire of lies and BS was collapsing around him and he couldn't handle it. He is not missed.

'Lo Jill -- I share your posts on Facebook, because they are perfect weapons for my passive/aggressive defense pattern among relatives. This year I suddenly became aware a malignant narcissist played me terribly. Then I recognized some kindred spirited narcissists, and one flying monkey that I know of. A lot of depression set in, then through prayer I got out from under it.
I have to examine myself, because I too can be a bit narcissistic. Thankfully I have some compassion and a conscience.
I thank you for the information you have shared. You've been a big help. Les Carter has helped too.

Just now I got the thought that maybe the reason she's not backing off is because she knows she's hurting me by continuing on this path and she knows that my daughter is going to come back and tell me. Do you think I'm off base thinking like this? And what do I do about the situation because the pain and hurt I feel inside is just getting to be a bit much for me to cope with right now.
