China doesn't comment on Russian border chomping, Russia doesn't comment on Chinese separatists. Neither side forces the issue. Neither wants to have a confrontation on the issue and neither needs to have a resolution on the issue. It is a fairly "Western minded" idea that issues must be resolved, and kinks in value differences must be called out and ironed out... even if it is in neither party's interest to do so.
One issue with this method of Western analysis is that the west views power dynamics in terms of winners and losers. It is a short sighted method of viewing power dynamics that benefits administrations with limited terms rather than the continuing state of their nations. China and Russia view power dynamics for what it is, and focuses on just staying in the game. The status quo between the two is palatable to both, so there is no reason to engage each other in No-Win scenarios.
Why do you write as if the west doesn’t act in the same exact way? The only reason this issue is even noticeable is because the west is looking up and down for cracks in the relationship.
As long as the state of their relationship is better than how they would have it if they were going at it against each other by far, they can leave uncomfortable issues unresolved, and they can spin certain ones into shows of "friendship"; declining to comment is a fairly common diplomatic move in these types of scenarios. The relationship between 2 countries cannot be simply maps to the relationship between 2 persons. China and Russia both has their own interests based on their own situation. This is a general situation for any countries. For China, it is more focusing on its own way to become a developed country in next 50 years. With a 1.4 billion population, the growth of its economy would quickly make China to be one of the superpowers in this world. However, I don't think China has more interesting other than economics in the traditional territories of Russian's area. E.g. those mid-Asian countries or Mongolia . Chinese foreign policy is clearly non-interventionism. The Belt and Road Initiative is more focused on economics rather than politics. Please be aware China solved all border issue with all the ex-cccp countries back to 1990s. For the question, are China and Russia allies? The answer is NO. But they are friends now. Even though they still have different interests like all the other countries, but there is no serious fundamental problems between these 2 countries. You would not easily expect they become enemies even if one day there is no more pressures from USA and its allies.
It's just that they don't have any treaties to drag each other into war so it gives more public flexibility. Russia's smaller neighbors and even the Anglos overseas have went to war against it in recent centuries too, or even each other before Germany and Japan surrendered in 1945.
its a nitpick, and quite a subjective one, but in the beginning of the video there is a map with the "american" bloc, and it has Sweden included in it. Your videos are underrated and realy helpfull in understanding the geopolitics of the world. However your description of hard and soft power is only partly right. There are three ways to make person A make something for person B. 1. You can force person A (military force, sanctions, interventions) 2. You can pay person A (bribes, loans, embargos. China is currently doing this with the belt and road project. For example taking control over sri lanka's largest port) Or 3. You can influence person A through persuation/attraction (in terms of nations this could be music, colture, movies, food, litterature, etc). The two first point are what we call hard power, and the third point is what we call soft power. The difference between hard and soft power can be summarised quite well in this sentence, "There is more power in jeans and rock n' roll than there is in the entire red army" - Régis Debray

I just discovered this channel and you're REALLY underrated,I don't know how UA-cam algorithm actually works but you really deserve more. Will be a regular watcher of you upon this point. Expecting more videos from you.
Really nice and interssting, well reaserced and done. A litte nit pick tho, some of the frames and pictures feel a litte stale so maybe some more movement in them, it doesn't lower the quality of the video just a slight interupt in the flow. I'm looking forward for more content from, I think you're on to something best of luck
Maybe making one picture in parts, for example just after 1:50 there is a change in pictures, China gets surounded by the clolonial powers and instead of making them apear all at once maybe one at the time and china progressivly looking more paniked, making the picture more lively at just about the same amout of work
@@Zbra1 Thank you, I'm very happy that you like it! Thats a good point, I hope to increase the overall quality of my videos over time as I get more familiar with video editing in general.
5:42 "STUFF" in Cyrillic - excellent xD

China and Russia alliance is anti US alliance.
@@Konoha8888 Speak English.

Sweden was officially neutral and was not part of NATO, though there was of course an understanding that if we were attacked it would be from the soviets.
@@NiclasLoof Not really. Some 3rd world unaligned countries had more Soviet influence than American, and in fairness he did not include Yugoslavia in the Eastern block, so he probably shouldn't have included Sweden in the Western one either...

Countries don’t have any permanent friends or permanent enemies, only permanent interests.
Amazing video. Hopefully this channel will grow
Your videos are underrated and realy helpfull in understanding the geopolitics of the world. However your description of hard and soft power is only partly right. There are three ways to make person A make something for person B.
1. You can force person A (military force, sanctions, interventions)
2. You can pay person A (bribes, loans, embargos. China is currently doing this with the belt and road project. For example taking control over sri lanka's largest port)
Or
I think now we are nearing JULY in 2020, we need to re-write the bit about China being serious about borders.

@@hyxlia_ So hey, dude; the Cyrillic alphabet used in Russian is different from a Romanized Alphabet like that used in English. The "C" in a romanized alphabet like that used in English is actually "S" in the Cyrillic alphabet used in Russian, the "y" a the Romanized alphabet is actually "U" in the Cyrillic alphabet used in Russian, and this character; "ф": is "f" in the Cyrillic alphabet used in Russian.
So what "Стуфф" is written as...is "stuff," but that's not actually how you write "stuff" in Russian, and yet the video maker just wrote the English word "stuff" in the Cyrillic alphabet that would be used for Russian as a joke
(yes, you can write English words in the Cyrillic alphabet that Russian uses, and no: it does not make them Russian, just as writing Russian words in the romanized alphabet won't make them English, or Spanish).
Whether the friendship between China and Russia can last long depends on how long the United States can exist
