At Lands End, I'm 3,147 miles away. At John O'Groats, I'm 3,230 miles away. Perhaps that wide gap will get smaller if you do ATS USA. Great thing to do on the longest day of the year. All the signposts, all of them! I love both buses and trains, and when they're combined (both me and Vicki love Pacers) so it's nice to see this whole adventure

Whereas From where I am sitting the sign post at John O'Groats is closer (at a mere 11,375.53 miles or 18,307.14 km) than the sign post at Land's End (which is 11,977.51 miles - 19275.94 km away.) All The Stations NZ would be much more achievable - I reckon it could be done in 4 days! All The (NZ) Stations - All of them!

We thought of both of you yesterday: 1h50 of "Atlantic 'Roller' Coasters" blue bus ride from Land's End to St Ives... with pile-ups, back-ups, tight curves, epic hairpins, thick bushes, high hedges, 17% grades and counting, very close rooftops and granite walls but very placid cows. Better than the Tour de France. Those bus drivers are amazingly talented (and patient). Hats off!👍👌
Guide Dogs are wonderful service animals. Check in your local area. The dogs are retired after a certain age and they can use a loving after Home. Or you can train the Puppies. Some places can use more homes for the Puppies, learning what they will need to become Guide Dogs. Either way, you will have a wonderful dog for a few years.
Love this adventure. Poor Geoff must have slept all the way back to London. And Tony is to almost £13,000! Let us All the Station fans push him to £15,000 that would be awesome. Yes, I gave some.

Loved the video. I was in Scotland a couple months ago. Me and the missus went by car travelling around. One of our stops was John O Groats. My heart sank slightly as I miss that place a lot. Year before we were in Cornwall and visited Lands End. This video was a reminder of some of the most amazing places I have ever visited. I can't wait to return.
Love this. We also did Land’s End to John O’Groats by public transport with two small children (aged 4 and 2) and it was a brilliant adventure. Watching this brought back some happy memories :-)

I remember the old slam-door C2C trains into Fenchurch street. Standing on the door runner-boards as the train came into the station and jumping off when we came to the mid-platform exit... You miss so much of the beauty of the UK when you drive.

I'd like to do an Amtrak trip from San Diego to Maine. I think it can be done in three or four days. The easternmost point of Maine accessible by public transportation is Perry, Maine, once a day, I believe.
@Lord Hosk It should only be three nights from lower Michigan, even if you stay overnight in a hotel in Chicago. It's a great trip, especially anytime besides the winter when you can't see very much.
That was great, it reminded me of one of the trips i used to do from Newcastle Australia at 4am to Broken HIll arriving at 1230 am the next morning taking 20 hrs 30 mins travelling over 1300 kms and involve 3 trains, we had 30 mins to make it to a pizza shop in Broken Hill that shut at 1 am then catch the train back at 3am in the morning to retrace our path. Unfortunately we can no longer do this trip.
The big shock for me watching this, having grown up in and caught the train from Tamworth a bazillion times in my life... Is that they've renumbered the platforms!

Great video as usual! You prompted me to look up the northernmost and southernmost points of Sweden. Google maps can't even find a road or public transit route between them. It would take 25 hours on one bus and five trains to get within 100 or so km of the north where Sweden meets both Finland and Norway. I'm sure you'd be able to find a way by public transport though. Maybe that could be a challenge for the future? It'd be great to do it over midsummer travelling up to the land of the midnight sun!
Hardly that strenuous. But clearly great fun. I cycled the JOG ….solo in both directions…but not in the same year. Key to success..good planning and plenty of skin products!
Everywhere else in Penwith = quaint. Lands End = tacky artificial tourist trap. It definitely doesn't feel like the end of land in the way Lizard Point, or John O'Groats does.
@@sihollett Couldn't agree more! Lizard Point is more of a "end of the land" than Land's End. And the scenery is more spectacular. And the Most Southerly Cafe, almost on the cliff edge does superb cream teas!
Nice to see my hometown of Tamworth getting a bit of air time - not exactly the nicest place to grow up, but I can't fault it's transport connections. Some of you might recognise it from the Channel 4 train documentary as The Station where the two guys ordered pizza to be delivered on the train, as it stopped on the Platform

I could imagine having this done in other countries as well! For example in Germany you could travel from the Three Countries Bridge in Weil to Kap Arkona on Rügen. Using high speed trains, this would take about 15 to 20 hours.

I was taking the photo at the beginning of the video, I'm also seen for a split second later wearing a blue XTC tshirt. Phil was seen in the background by the bus stop when Tony was discussing his route. 😊 We were "ATS taxi service" from Penzance to Lands End (and a bit of catering too 😜) It was nice to be a little part of the day!

Thank you for showing the Leeds train at Birmingham (always XX.03 past the hour), the number of times I have caught that service. It’s funny how on XC nobody uses first class, I noticed you had the carriage to yourselves, perhaps they’ll get rid of that like they did the Quiet Coach!!

Since the towns of Y and Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch are sister cities, you might also receive some funding or manage to gather some people around for that journey!
It appears to be slightly more advantageous, time wise, FROM Thurso, than from Cornwall. I think this is because there is a very early train for Scottish people to get to work, etc. And there is no pre 9.30 premium fare on that remote line (Scotrail), as there is coming from Cornwall to Bristol, as elsewhere in England.
Shame I didn't bring another pair of sticks to Tamworth. Could have had an air drum battle with Vicki.

It appears to be slightly more advantageous, time wise, FROM Thurso, than from Cornwall.
I think this is because there is a very early train for Scottish people to get to work, etc.
And there is no pre 9.30 premium fare on that remote line (Scotrail), as there is coming from Cornwall to Bristol, as elsewhere in England.

Years ago you could have got the direct train from Plymouth to Inverness BR Blue Mk1s. Travelled on it from Wigan to Inverness many times.
