- Join fellow RC enthusiast and Spektrum Technical Director John Adams for our simple to follow setup tutorial series. It is our goal in this series to quickly and simply instruct RC pilots how to setup AS3X on the AR637T.
In this third video John covers the First time setup of the AR637T. This includes Factory Reset, Orientation Setup and Gain Channel Select.

This was key to getting my UltraStick BnF to work properly with dual ailerons and flaps. AR631. I looked everywhere as to why my elevator was moving when I gave rudder input. It was like ghost input. Factory reset. Thank you!
Would have been useful if you made it clear that the forward planning screen will not appesr unless a telemetry receiver is active and bound.
I need help i have the dx6e and i dont have forward programing and i am vary confused i got a new plane with the ar637t in it and i need help geting as3x to work

Hi how do I setup Spektrum SAFE Select on dx9 for the first time, I just bought the Coscendo evo and downloaded the file from spekrtum website. I also set up low and high rates on switch g. I cannot see anyware in the instruction how to set up the gyro? is it already pre programmed?
Having a hard time setting up the R Knob. AR637 on a Viper 90mm. AX3 is on the flight mode switch. All other channes are being used.
How do i program the r knob? Or do gains have to remain fixed?

Bellairvideo it will appear once you are bound to a forward programming rx. Also make sure tx is updated ;)
Got as far as selecting a switch then said "continue" pressed it and a message popped up saying " rebooting receiver" then went back to main screen, have I missed anything, using a DX6 3gen until the time the NX manages to get into the UK.
Is there anyway I can use the Spektrum programming cable to do this on my PC?
Gosh I love the way you teach John!! I am putting an AR631 in my Dad's ole T28 Trojan. It had an AR500. I have my forward programming all messed up. How do I erase it and start from the beginning where I set orientation (nose to the ground) and receiver orientation?

I have a 673T that came out of a BNF model where the receiver was oriented inverted. I want to use it in another PNP model but when after binding I attempt to set a different receiver orientation there is no "other settings" option in Forward Programming. Do I have to reprogram the receiver to "Open Stock" before I can reprogram the receiver orientation?
Hi, just purchased an AR630 and an NX6. Under Forward Programming, and Gyro Settings, when I press NEXT after First Time Setup, it goes back to the First Time Setup screen with no other options. This is after I performed the Factory Reset. What am I doing wrong?
I must be missing something there is no "Forward Programing" in my choices in the Function List. Does the DX8 Gen2 have to be communicating with the new AR637T to see that option?
Forward Programming will not appear unless you are bound and connected to a forward programming receiver, like the AR637T. Also make sure your transmitter is up to date :)
I have the same DX8 Gen 2. I'm about to order the AR637T and try my hand at setting the new high tech RX. How do you do with trying to follow the setup procedures?
@@SpektrumRCvideos Have you ever thought this is a bad idea?, it should show up and not be available, that way you dont spend too long searching for what appears to be a missing feature.
Trying to do Forward Programming with a new AR630 receiver and DX6E transmitter. Got through automatic orientation, but the screen doesnt have the right hand diagram for me to confirm the orientation. Its not in the receiver instruction manual either. So I guess Ill just accept orientation #1, (AR630 label up, bind button forward, servo connections aft? Is this orientation 1?).
Next step select a channel and a switch. Channel 5 is lights, can I use this for gain or do i not use lights anymore?
Next step, I dont have a knob. You said I could use a trim switch?? I have on/off switches available but I dont see how that could work. Youre showing this being done in flight. Can you suggest what to do with a DX6E?
Has SpektrumRC ever set up an AR630 RX with a DX6E TX and a plane where all channels are used (5 lights, 6 flaps?)

To get the orientation images, you will need to make sure your DX6e is up to date. Are the lights controlled by channel 5? If they are simply plugged into that port, Then you can use that channel for gain/flight modes etc. Since your DX6e does not have a knob or auxiliary trimmers then tuning will all have to be done on the ground. So fly, observe, land to tune in forward programming, and repeat until gains are good. Hope that helps!
I've found if you buy a plane with an AS3X receiver installed from the factory it wont show the forward programing menu on the transmitter so you can't do a factory reset..
By default is the AS3X off out of a brand new package? I'd like to keep it off.
Does Forward Programming not work with the AR637TA (the version that comes with the BNF's like the P-51 1.5) I cant' get it to connect with my ix 12 but there is a "AS3X" menu under Model Adjust but it doesn't seem to work the same way. I had some preset values and I can only assign L or R trim but not the knob. Then it seems you can apply a flight mode switch and you can see the trim number change on each mode but the gains seem fixed.
I also have the iX12 and AR637TA in a BNF and am having the same problems. The rest of the plane works, Safe on and off, throttle cut, all flaps, dual rates and expo etc & my radio seems be all set the way I want it, BUT the receiver isn't responding to any of the 3 Modes on switch or gains changes with the knob. Safe works, but when it's turned off, I have absolutely no gyro stability affects. It is totally off. I see that like you mentioned, in AS3x Gains I too can only assign L or R trim. Anything to do with gains, seem fixed no matter what the radio is set to. The knob seems to work though looking at Servo Setup Aux3, and the 3 Modes or even more on the radio, but not at the receiver. I'm going to keep trying to figure it out. It's frustrating though, as the plane flies great other than I would like to have a little stability from wind gusts, with out having Safe on. Safe saved my plane on a windy day that I really shouldn't have been flying, but I don't feel I would have needed to turn on safe if I could have had the different flight modes working the way they should, with gyro stability helping stabilize the plane from wind gusts. I'm still learning, and I'm fairly new to this iX12 radio. Hopefully we can figure this out. If I do, I'll try to reply here to help you if i can.
@@thomasjent1431 From what i've learned on RC Groups, the A model does not currently have forward programming, but is supposed to be coming in an update. Also the Vario telemetry is not on the A model. From what i can tell the AS3X menu for the A doesn't actually do anything.

I have a new DX 9 and there is not "Forward Programming" in my choices in the Function List. Same question as Bernfran Francis.

It will only show when the receiver is pluged in.
I can not see "Model Adjust" on my DX8 GEN2 in the Function list. I have downloaded the latest software update 2.05.
"Model adjust" is the "function list" when referencing the iX transmitters. Forward programming is in the Function list for DX8 and all DX tx. Hope that helps!

You can adjust the trimming of the receiver mount angels als later. Checkout the settings Other Settings -> Fail Save -> Attitude trimming
I have an otter on a dx6. I go to forward programming and all it say is connection failed. I have bond and flown model many times.
Forward programming is only available with open stock AR637T and AR630 AS3X receivers. Not the AR636 or any AR637T that came with a model (at this time)
Here's where wheels come off the wagon.. My NX10 does NOT have next buttons. it has Black text in an orange box OR orange text in a black box sometimes in the upper right sometimes lower right. Took me 2 days floundering until I got past this hoop and to be honest I still don't know what's correct. Please show an NX10 and how to select or reject
How would I program this on a dx9 , Is it through the transmitter or the computer?
Thru the transmitters forward Programming menu, make sure it is up to date :)

One important think is to setup the flight mode BEFORE you start programming the receiver! Otherwise it will into a mess of misleading settings in the receiver.
I have mostly only 2 modes. Also important: there are 5 flight modes overall.
0.24 Not finding a "Function List" in any of the menus in my DX6
I will answer my own comment. Function List does not show up unless a programmable receiver is bound to the transmitter and turned on.

i ended up getting a ix 12, looked at the dx8 gen 2 to get all the new smart stuff, but the dx8 gen 2 is really a dx6 with two channels added, you need a dx9 to get all the same switches as the dx8 G1, by the time I was spending $500 on a new tx, figured I might as well make it $600 and get the new generation with the built in android. I mean you can watch porn on your Tx now

iX20 Tx is not use for many rc pilots
I bought a Male it was bound correctly. The stabilization moves on the airplane when you tilt it. I pulled my stocked in and down. Then toggled the switch. This voodoo didn't work. I can not get the switch to turn off the gyro. I used the Bluetooth programmer to look at the switch setting. The phone app needs to be updated. It needs to not try to do anything before you select a model or something other. It just doesn't work as it should. It messed up my model today. I am not happy. I do not want to toggle the switches to activate something. I want to program it manually. I want printed information to follow to set my transmitter. I do not like Spektrum it sucks
Spektrum AR637T, what a complex receiver!!. Please Spektrum, why not make things friendly and easy to understand!!
Great thing about the 637T and our latest Forward Programming receivers is that you can make it as simple or complex as you want. Once you have programmed one you will see just how simple it can be :)
@@SpektrumRCvideos I am installing an AR637T receiver in a glider and I have had difficulty programming it, I have even followed youtuber Brian Phillips and he had difficulty programming this receiver too. I think it was not good idea to buy it, I would not recommend it.

I wish spektrum would use a dx9 for us that have those radios. Mine does not follow along as he suggests and lost it by step 3. So confusing yet you say it is so simple. You talk too slow and beat around the bush and very unhelpful. Would be nice to describe how the setup works in general instead of programming a model. Useless and wish I never bought this crap!
