So I just learned Ambipom was version exclusive. Legit had no idea, and if anything its stupid that there are version exclusives for DLC imho. One of you reccomended Ludicolo, and I think thats actually a solid idea. Moveset is pretyy self explanatory I would say Surf, Giga Drain or Energy Ball, Ice Beam, and what other move you want for the last slot. Turns out I was also wrong about the mirror herb truth be told, just have the mons in your party and the egg move moves transfer. So it's actually easier to get than how I described in the video. I rushed to get this video out I will admit and didn't thoroughly do enough research. I apologize. Also, swap out Ice Fang foricicle spear and give it loaded dice. I don't really think competitively when creating ingame teams but I always forget that Scarlet and Violet has access to these items really early on.
One question Mystic, when are you going to do a never used team for Legends Arceus? It better have Golem in it since you often pick Rhyperior for the best teams for Legends Arceus.
you not wrong about that being stupid, I had to get someone to give me a Cramorant since that was the only version exclusive i couldn't get through other means (I'm playing violet), any other version exclusive I was able to use legends arceus and pokemon home for that. BTW Empoleon got Competitive now as a hidden ability over defiant, your thoughts on that?
The version-exclusive bit slipped my mind, too, until I read this. And Ludicolo's an interesting alternative, I like it. You shouldn't have to rush things, either. You're liable to make mistakes that way. You're doing your best, though, and that's what matters.
This team looks great! Very good to see! Y'know, I was actually looking at a couple of past best teams today, like your Crystal ones. You definitely have come a long way from back then.
This was the first time I decided to make a new team instead of just using my previous lv 100. I had Yanmega, Dipplin, Poliwrath, Sinistcha, Probopass, and Chandelure. Yes, that's right. During my blind playthrough, I accidentally made (Save for two) Kieran's exact team.
Mystic, you are a genius. You see I write fanfiction for fun on a website, and Pokemon is one of my favorite fandoms, and well with your insight...I like making Ash "evil" with the pokemon he captures and their moves, so thank you.
Hey Mystic, a few other commenters already mentioned this but Ambipom is a Violet exclusive. I personally think that Ludicolo would be a great alternative since there’s no water or grass type on the team.
@@Boltofbrilliance122Same here! And I started the DLC with a team of 3 and caught 3 new team members out of the returning/new Pokémon. I plan to do a similar thing with Indigo Disk when that comes out
As somebody who scrapped their whole team and caught a new one except for their starter (My Typhlosion from HGSS) the Teal Mask story and Ogre Clan side quest were very refreshing with the difficulty they brought to the table. They all felt like they got the same love Nemona's final battle got, if not, more.
Meowscarada edition gonna have Infernape for sure. Sidenote, but I myself plan on rushing the Teal Mask story with a single overleveled Pokemon on a future run of the game so I can get Ogerpon at level 20 and use it for the whole game. I worked out a specific set of team members with certain Tera types (I have a lot of tera shards on my main file) to make it so that with Ogerpon's type switching I can have all 18 types in 6 team slots.
I used Gallad in my recent play through of Scarlet with only fighting types. I had a pure power medicham, yet gallad with sharpness was never outclassed. I used both most of the play through, only choosing medicham over gallad at the league
about baxcalibur, it was quickbanned from smogon OU due to getting scale shot. for context scale shot is a 25 base power multi-hit move that drops defense in exchange for +1 speed and it else has icicle spear which is also a 25 base power multi-hit move but no secondary effects and loaded dice allows both moves to a minimum of hit 4 times 100% and yeah it can boost its attack with sword dance and boost its speed with scale shot while also using scale shot for strong dragon stab EDIT: forgot that alolan ninetales had snow warning to effectively give baxcalibur a defense boost and alolan ninetales can also set up aurora veil so baxcalibur is almost guaranteed to set up a sword dance
I'd argue using Mienfoo over Gallade for the bulk of your playthrough. Access to U-Turn, Regenerator as an ability, strong moves in Close Combat and Poison Jab, and access to the Eviolite for most of your playthrough make it pretty formidable despite being a pre-evolution.
liirc there is a TM of Icicle Spear and Mamoswine learns that. Give it the Loaded Dice and it is guaranteed to hit 4 times minimum. Not to mention, it removes your trouble dealing with Pokemon with Sturdy and Focus Sashes and trust me. You're gonna need it. The team that I used consists of Pokemon only found in Kitakami: Empoleon (from the random Sinnoh starter egg from Jacq) Dripplin Ribombee Chandelure Mamoswine Mienshao (Absurdly high evo level, I know but Mienfoo isn't that bad as long as you have a good moveset)
Really happy with my team tbh. I went in only knowing I’d be using a shiny Sneasel I found in Area Zero (who has basically become the protagonist of the DLCs for me) and Dipplin. Ended up with them, Hatterene, Oricorio-Sensu, Bloodmoon Ursaluna and Hisuian Arcanine, all of whom I had never used. I also used Infernape from the Mystery Egg for a good while, but Arcanine was the better pick for my overall team (I wish I’d gotten a Piplup from the egg, that way I could’ve ditched Hatterene, who ended up being the worst performer on the team and kept Arcanine). Not sure what I’ll do for Indigo Disk, I’ll definitely be evolving Sneasel and I might get a Flapple since it’s the only Applin evo I’ve yet to use, but I want to try out Competitive!Empoleon and at the same time, I want to bring back my main story team for the final Paldean adventure.
For getting moonblast onto your cutiefly the gender doesn't matter for either pokemon I don't think, just get a pokemon with moon blast, keep that in your party and ideally make sure it only knows moonblast, give cutiefly/ribombee the mirror herb to hold and make sure it has at least one empty moveslot, it should pick up Moonblast and it saves you time for breeding.
Icicle Crash can be used for Mamoswine. Also Acrobatics doesnt work for Technician unless you have an item on Ambipom. Acrobatics' power doubles when pokemon doesnt have an item.
My team for Teal Mask was a shiny hiusian decidueye, a shiny Ursaluna (that later got swapped to the bloodmoon forme), a dewott (yes, just a dewott), Sinistcha, Carbink and a Chandelure and it was interesting. Definitely not the best team but Decidueye was the ace of my team carrying when needed the most and Carbink had some huge moments tanking hits with its good defenses
I prefer Cresselia, shes Psychic and not Fairy but still has Moonblast. You can use Lunar Blissing to both get HP and make your opponents miss attacks while pummeling them with Dazzeling Gleam or Moonblast
I’m playing it, and I’m using paldea Pokémon I haven’t used in my first playthrough, so I’m using skeledirge, Kilowatrell, farigaraf, and what ever is there in kitakami, like polchageist
I have gladly used Gallade from the beginning of gen 9 because of Sharpness. I put an Expert belt on it and it really shreds, pun intended, even in tera raids. I also use Skeledirge and with a Metronome Torch Song can hurt after about 3 rounds
The teal mask was a challenge if you used a whole new team. I used all shinies but i used: Vikavolt, Chandelure, Dipplin, Mamoswine, Kommo-o, and politoed
Just out of curiosity, will you be doing a similar updated Best Team videos involving the newly released DLC for those that have selected Sprigatito or Quaxly as their starter Pokemon?
the first thing i did was shiny hunt a jangmo-o and went in with garchomp, hoopa unbound for the loyal 3, baxcalibar, dragapult, and finally walking wake and it was pretty fun
I don't have the DLC yet, planning on buying it soon but knowing I can transfer all these Pokémon from Arceus and other games means i can craft raise them to Lv. 100 before i play the DLC.
amazing videos as always i'm curious do u plan to do a build like this again with the dlc for the other 2 starters as well? would love one for sprigatito.
I decided to go with Meowscarada (With protean to be exact), Empoleon (For water and steel combo), Salazzle, Gliscor (For not only the unique typing of Ground/Flying, but also it's solid attack and speed with it being tanky), Gardevoir, and Kommo-o.
Call me a traditionalist, but I actually prefer the Day Care/Nursery over the breeding system in SV. Sure SV is easier as you can do it at any time, but I prefer having a visual indicator that an egg has been found that the older titles provided.
Ribombee and Mamoswine are two of the Pokémon I will use for my Scarlet team. I’ve never used either of them. I’ve somewhat planned out my Scarlet team, but I am thinking of getting moonblast for my cutie fly.
This team has no water or flying type coverage.. You used Gyarados in one of your Best teams here, but might I suggest, legitimately, Pelipper? You've harped on it before, but ever since Gen 7 when it got Drizzle it's been lowkey underrated.. Catch one with Drizzle and it'll wreck stuff with always accurate Hurricane and Surf from the special side. Plus with Mamoswine, you've got coverage against its nasty 4x electric weakness.. I used a Pelipper briefly in my Scarlet run and it flat out soloed Team Star's fire base alone.. Surf, Hurricane, Ice Beam and a filler move like Roost or U-Turn is pretty solid
Tip for using Magnezone: If you see a tera raid tor a Magnemite/Magneton that is a unique tera type that's not normal type, use that instead and give it tera blast
Just as a fun fact, the most lethal type combo in competitive is electric/ice because it can hit everything in the game for at least neutral damage and has a variety of super effective match-ups like water, flying, grass, ground and dragon - all of which are very common or very powerful types in competitive. For a regular playthrough that varies though, but then again I just wanted a reason to explain "boltbeam" in VGC.
A really good Alt Mon though you'll be double dipping into the Fighting Type is Poliwrath as you can find Poliwag in the River to the East of Mossui or better yet there is a Fighting Tera Type Poliwhirl in the Pond just north of Mossui and south of the Oni Mountain Marker on the Map!!!

Glimmora, Basculegion, Dipplin, Amourouge, kingambit and lawnmower rotom.
Drain Punch on Gallade doesn’t seem like a bad idea. Since it can help heal it though. And imo Gallade isn’t a bad Pokémon to.

I used a very very underpowered team during teal mask, so most battles took me like 6 tries, it was so much fun

Lame the Ursaluna is too high leveled for the main story. (I twice caught that beast upon starting up a new save, thanks to Pokémon home)
