    Littke Isadore & The Inquisitors All Night Long as great as the original recordings . Cds by them avaliable crom Amazon. I went to School with their original drummer Phil Leone and he was a true lover of that sound. As Dave Fornan ( Little Isadore) and the entie group.

  • @yardlet6
    @yardlet6 14 років тому +2

    The record only came out as a 78 in 1954. The 45 he's holding up is a boot. Jubilee made 45s of their records when they knew they would sell.

    Very interesting video which I enjoyed. Yeah, I was sorta surprised at seeing the Du Mauriers' "All Night Long" going for $250.00 but, hey ... it's 2012 now, and it's more than 50 years since its release!

    I read in the literature that came in the Rhino records Doo Wop box that no copies of Stormy Weather by The Five Sharps on 45 were known to exist yet I see you have one. That is pretty cool. I am way too young to have been around in those days and I am still learning about doo wop so I am very curious about this. Love love love this music.

    Joe, just happen to find you on UA-cam. You wouldn't happen to have a copy of Dick Grass and Hoppers: Please Dear & Mr John Law. There's some discrepancy which side was supposed to be number one. Group was out of Bridgeport Connecticut. I played in a group with his guitar player Jimmy Marklin, who may be the only one still above ground from the original group. Don't even know if he's still around. Doo-wop Dwight Bridgeport Connecticut

    There are a couple damaged 78's as well as a 78 acetate known to excist . The record was also pressed on 7inch 45RPM according to Jubilee Records but were likely melted for other Jubilee recordings as none of the original 45s have ever been found.
    Find one and you've made history.

    If any of these records have actually changed hands at these prices - some of which I doubt - the buyers would be unwise to assume such high values are going to hold up. Collecting these is very much a Baby Boom thing, and as us Boomers die off, interest will diminish a great deal too, along with values.
    It's now nearly 5 years since this video was posted, and I'd be interested to know if any of these records can be proved to have sold at these prices recently.

    According to Jubilee inventory records, legend has it that there MAY have been a legitimate 45 pressing?, could it be in the hands of a unknown collector?, some rumors have been said a legitimate black and red wax copy were pressed, but in time we will see. Anything is possible in the world of collecting.

  • @rstory10063
    @rstory10063 13 років тому

    fosman10470, maybe you can help. I think I have what I believe to be the master recording the song Cherry Pie, by Marvin & Johnny. It is the same diameter as a regular 45 rpm but is made of metal. There are two holes, one small as in a 78 rpm, and another hole off to the side the same diameter. it sounds exactly like the original, so I know it could not have been recorded via speaker to mike or dubbed in some way. You seem to be knowledgeable on this subject.

    Oh come on guys. It's all hype. The bottom line is the record is only worth what somebody is going to pay for it. You got one for sale for $5000.00? Well it's probably still sitting there and you can brag all you want. I have picked up some of these records over the years for a dollar. Yes a dollar. It depends on who's got them and what you are willing to pay.

    Whoever set the prices on these records is out of there mind or a crook. As a collector and a dealer if I could get these pices I would sell my vast collection and live off the interest I could make. Stormy weather is a BOOT so don,t try too sell it off as an original. I agree with John Wright below. It is guys like you that make record dealers look bad. Give Up.

  • @cqsallie

    Maybe you guys who think I'm being too hard on fosman should know that we like each other very much and have a lot of things in common.
    I love Do-Wop; I just don't like cheesey Do-Wop.
    Geez! Get a life!
    All Do-Wop wasn't good any more than any song in any style was automatically good.
    Fosman and I agree on something: ELO's "Telephone Line," which blended Do-Wop with great orchestral sounds.
    Seriously, dudes and dudettes, Joe and I are the best of friends.....

  • @Dickneeds

    And, lest you think I know not of what I speak, I was born in 1938 and sure do remember the best of Do Wop. These don't cut it....
