Baby girl who plays Claudia did her job in this episode, the acting was superb, her facial expressions when Armond choked her, her singing, all of it, I am a fan.

I concur!! through every episode, she gradually really did come through and make this roll her own.

I’m surprised I haven’t heard hardly any one touch on how Armand’s treatment of Claudia probably comes from his resentment of her search for freedom. The two of them were both taken in by their makers and essentially treated as their property, but Claudia has pretty much always been trying to escape containment, whereas Armand seems too afraid to live outside of strict rules.

I think this episode really delved into Louis' flaws and insecurities in a way that really rounds him as a character (and he was always a very complex + interesting character) while also moving the plot forward! And I think one of those big flaws are these feelings of insecurity - yes, about his photography, but also about claudia. This was made clear to me when, during their argument about him revealing their involvement in lestat's death, he says "you chose the coven!". He is so used to claudia basing her life, her decisions, around him; he's so used to getting to "possess" her in a sense, keeping her young and his daughter when the mood strikes him, while also wanting to be able to shrug and say "you made your choices" and call her his sister when it's inconvenient/uncomfortable for him to take responsibility. Seeing her, for the first time, prioritise relationships with other people over him makes him insecure and jealous, and I think this could explain why, at the start of the episode, he just goes back to his book when she glances at him to defend her from armand's criticism - which, imo, was fair enough of her to do! He's in a relationship with armand! But as louis made clear, he believes she's made her choices and decided her loyalties (forgetting that her loyalty, ultimately, will always lie with him) and now she has to stand by them. It's pretty petty tbh!
Jealousy was a really big theme of the whole episode, imo. We see armand's jealousy surfacing when he realises how present dreamstat was in their relationship in paris (very princess Diana "there were three of us in this marriage" coded), louis' jealousy at claudia "choosing" the coven over him, santiago's jealousy surrounding Claudia's success as well as louis' ability to exist outside of coven rules ("he's not even that attractive" jealousy is a disease santiago!!).
Anyways... fabulous episode!! So many excellent moments, and stellar acting as always. Super gripping episode with lots of interesting insights into already well-rounded characters - ik jacob anderson said that louis makes some rough choices this season, and I think we see a lot of that in this episode. The poor man is grieving and clearly not doing well, but it hurts my heart that claudia always suffers as a result. If nothing else, because we all know how much they love each other, and they're never going to leave each other (for better or worse). They're stuck together in a headlock of hurt! 🚬
To be clear, I'm very much a fan of louis! I enjoyed getting to see another side of him in this episode.
Thanks again for another fun recap!! I look forward to these every week :')

The breakdown of Claudia's and Louis relationship in this ep was devastating but somewhat inevitable with everything that has been builing up to it . Loved your descriptions of the sister/ daughter dynamics with regards to Louis and responsibility. Delainey's delivery of "Except he just threantened me with it." 💔 I totally understand that she made the choice to join the Coven but Louis withholding the information about Armand knowing about Lestat does not make it a transparent choice for her in my mind. However, I understand why Louis makes certain decisions ( even when I disagree with them!) It really does make the show so interesting! Looking forward to your next recap ❤

The way I cackled when Louis had Santiago's tongue!!! I said "Aww shoot" my toxic behind thought that was lightweight sexy. This show is bringing out my toxicity 🤣
The fact that Santiago clocked their NOLA accent should've let them know they are not safe. And Armand told Louis don't lie to them, they are not forgiving. Smh

I think the Katherine Mitchell name is just the name previous to his alphabetically (Mitchell, then Molloy, then the person after I think was Moore) for that year (1973) and Daniel's name was not in there indicating that he was not in the victim list

I don't get defending Louis in this situation. I think it's pretty simple. He looked Claudia in the eye and basically told her that he doesn't believe that she was threatened by Armand. "Doesn't sound like him". Basically he refuses to believe her account of abuse she just went through. That's pretty horrific. On top of that, he shared their biggest secret with Armand without revealing it to Claudia or consulting her. She thought they were in this together and now she discovers that she is in grave danger because Louis could not keep his mouth and mind shut. I mean...the hate he is receiving right now seems pretty deserved.
Edit: I don't mean that Louis is being defended in the video. I'm talking about the comments.

I mean, to be fair to Louis, Armand already knew. It was hardly about keeping his mouth shut, he literally didn't know how to hide his thoughts. But he should have told Claudia as soon as he let it slip, before she became part of the coven. They should have left right there.

I LOVED the apple detail! I didn’t get it at first & it made me question what dreamstat was bc I couldn’t get why there was a pause/why dreamstat was “thinking” so to speak. It being Louis searching about the word is so so so cool

Louis didn’t tell their secret, Armand read their minds the first night they arrived. He should have told her when he came clean to Armand and admitted that his companion was actually Lestat tho.

Bruh I get everybody hate Louie now awesome but he literally was ready to leave Paris when they found out this was Lestat cult she wanted to stay it’s the only reason he’s still there so yeah she needs to sit in her bad choices if anybody has ownership over anybody it’s Claudia she manipulates him just like Lestat

    • @kev2020

Excellent point. Claudia was yelling and dragging him for saying that it was all a big red flag.

    • @klowwwww
      @klowwwww 3 місяці тому +2

"she needs to sit in her bad choices" how was she supposed to know that Armand/the coven would find out about it? Choices can change and the moment Louis found out that Armand knew, he should have shared that info with Claudia, and Claudia's choice would have probably changed with this new info. The thing is that Louis withheld that info and kept Claudia in the dark. Where is this "sit in her bad choices" energy towards Louis for creating a tween vampire and dooming her to this child body forever? If you want to argue it that way, Louis has ownership over Louis, he made this decision to make Claudia his eternal child, his eternal responsibility.

@@klowwwww she knows Louie is not good at keeping secrets she knows he sucks at blocking and she is also leaving her own bread crumbs for Santiago who tells someone your keeping a secret from my maker taught me how to lie really well that was so smart and your right he should’ve told her about Armand knowing the secret but also he’s trying not to ruin her happiness with this coven which she points out at every turn don’t ruin this for me Louie also he is literally sitting in his bad choice of making her he’s followed her everywhere while she emotionally manipulates him she’s the only reason he stayed in Paris he would’ve left because it is not smart to stay with a coven of people who worships the man you just “unalived”

While I do understand the interpretation of Dreamstat leaving is Louis choosing Armand and letting go of Lestat. I also had the thought that Dreamstat is a part of a different version of Louis. Louis is supposedly trying to find himself this season, and in doing so is still burdened by the role he played in the past. i.e. Lous' code switching and trying to keep up appearances. And in order for Louis to revert to Season 1 Louis, that would threaten his own brother, he has to give up the Louis that was created by his relationship with Lestat.

It’s crazy to watch Armand pretend to be submissive to Louis but scrambling his brains every now and then.

Louis was totally in wrong for not telling Claudia that Armand knew their secret ( he sat on it for almost 2 years), i understand he told her to not go in the coven and that she insisted, but he should have told her and for sure they would've left. Instead, he now willingly let's her go in the snake pit while, knowing more than ever that it's dangerous for them. And when she tells him that Armand threatened her, he doesn't believe her. Like cmon dude. When he tells her the its 'you and me' speech, its a promise that she will always come first. It's his promise to her. So, the accusation that she chose the coven over him is false, because right away she went to Louis when Armand told her he knew. So, i'm on Claudia's side for the argument. Louis was foul for not telling her that Armand knew.

Why are we invalidating louis's feelings? Claudia did choose the Coven over him. She was happy to have found her community and the first chance she got bonded with them. If it was supposed to be about both of them she shouldn't have made that choice. Louis has been telling her that they should leave but she didnt want to and now that she's fed up louis has to leave everything behind just to make her happy? Like people want louis to be protective of claudia but also at the same time want him to leave her to make her choices. Once she does and it ends bad it's his fault.

This is my only thing with all the Louie hate I’m seeing this episode she wanted to be in this coven if it wasn’t for her he would’ve been gone as soon as Lestat picture was seen everytime he says anything she’s like don’t F this up for me
