- Ever wanted to quit your job to go travel the world? That's exactly what I did. In this video, I not only reveal how much it cost me to travel the world for one year, but explain my budget mindset and how it can be cheaper per day than living at home.

Definitely cheaper than living at home. I spent 5 and a half months in Europe, 6 weeks in Africa, and about 2 months in South America for about $14,000. I suppose it really depends on how you spend your money, and how you save it. I had many months of free lodging, and also used points on some flights. I also had an efficient route to minimize flights, took lots of buses, and minimized getting cars except when absolutely needed.
Free lodging and efficient flight routes will definitely help you as those are some of the most expensive things. Well done. You have some awesome footage on your channel!
That's still quite expensive though
@@LincolnClay98 That is mostly the 6 weeks in Africa.
@@LincolnClay98 it's not though 😂😂😂
@@LincolnClay98 take it from me, i work in a job that pays 15000 grand a year ? If you managed to save and do something like this it's worth it, that's the only thing i want to do is travel the world if I do that I'm content with life, I don't need a yacht and BMW just good times but struggling at thr minute cos everything is sh*te,
Beautiful video. Thank you for putting this in perspective
Quick and to the point, nice video thanks man
No problem 👍
Thanks for sharing this information with us it was really great and interesting.
Glad it was helpful!
Videos are nice and to the point, thanks for sharing!
Glad you like them Tabatha!
A very inspirational video! Love that you mentioned to have a budget conscious mindset and to travel like a local, not a tourist. I seem to forget that sometimes! Also, couldn’t help but notice your beard in the photo montage. Looks pretty cool 😂
Oh yes, the infamous No-Shave-November beard of 2018. Really happy you found some value in my video!
Love this. Super informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Love this! Just joined LCA and found you there. Look forward to growing together in LCA!
Thanks man. Right back at you!
Very impressive, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
great work tony!
Thanks so much!
Great info!
Thanks!
Wow thanks for motivation, I also want to travel the world but don't have some friends and peers to join me since it's costly 😔
That would be ideal to go with a group of friends for that reason and also to be able to share the experience with them
Subbed. I started traveling around the world this year!
You're going to love it. Enjoy!!
Top quality content 😍😍🔥🔥🔥
Keep it up👍
Thanks!
Irregular movement between countries of the world costs a lot of money, moving by train or bus between countries and regions is less expensive
Absolutely!
hey!
how do you make the most out of your travels when you are at a place? like who guides you on whatever are the most imp/beautiful/must visit places and how to get there from your hotel? also what about the different languages? how did you communicate with the people there to guide you to the respective central locations in their cities/countries?
Google Translate was a big help, and actively trying to learn the basics of the language is important. I like going on free walking tours in each new city to get a good overview of it. Did my research online too for inspiration. UA-cam was a good resource
We have a very similar budget! Well done for keeping it so low!
Thanks and goodluck!

Hey Tony very good video! I appreciate that you pointed out numbers very precisely. Just in point! Subscribed! Greetings from New York, one of my goals is also to make a 365 days trip around the world and of course make content for my channel :D
Great video! You travel so cheaply, even considering all those flights!
Yep!
Awesome ❤️❤️
Thanks 🤗
Congrats. That is super. How did you decide where to go? What general tips do you have for us if we decide to follow your foot steps? Thank you.
Thanks Derrick! I based a lot of my decisions on where to go by finding cheap flights and cheap countries to travel. I have a bunch of blog post on budget travel here to get you started tonytravels.com/budget-travel-tips/
I was expecting a lot more expenses! Great job budgeting. I'm headed to Australia and New Zealand this summer (winter for them).
I think a lot of people also think it would cost more :)
You're gonna love it! How long do you plan on spending down under?
@@TonyFlorida You're showing us we can travel world cheaply! I'm going for an entire month, 20 days in Australia and 10 days in NZ.
@@uberglasses awesome man, enjoy it :)
Ryt let me join you
How was NZ?
Do you have a video on how the planning of your trip was done? Thanks
No sorry I don't, but here's some budgeting tips on my blog tonytravels.com/budget-travel-tips/
Any specific questions?
Good god man I’m sure you’re grateful that you made these plans for 2019 rather than 2020. I can’t wait to be able to travel again. Thanks for the info!
YES. I would be devastated if my plans were a year later!
Should only be a matter of time until we can safely get back out there 🤞
That what i want to do one-day to be able to traveling the world ❤❤❤❤
Hey tony , love the video you put out. I have a question which I hope you don’t mind answering, I have always wondered being away from home for long periods of time where do you revive such things as physical mail ? Would you get it sent to your house or another place ? I wonder if I go traveling for a year suppose how would I deal with that ?
I had my mail forwarded to my parent's house via the post office and they were able to let me know of anything important
I absolutely have no reason to doubt you, like you did man good for you and I hope me and my wife also are able, but like I somehow feel deceived and I feel like it’s not as simple as you made it seem. Idk maybe I’m just scared, or thinking it’s too good to be true.

I would live to visit there
a couple questions if you may
what kinda places would you stay in?
and also regarding food you said you would cook but you also did check the restaurants every once in a while?
also how long did you stay in each country?
Majority hostels, but also some Airbnbs. For food, yes it was mostly buying food from the supermarket, but at most once per day eating at a restaurant. I stayed in each country up to 1 or 2 months
@@TonyFlorida thanks
So since accommodation is also a huge expense did you mainly stay at hostels? Or even couch surf? As these would be no no for many people ? Very much appreciate your video as it's an inspiration to all. I plan to travel with a budget of $3k a month.
Yes, I mainly stayed at hostels. I never couchsurfed though, but definitely open to it in the future. $3k/month is doable in a lot of places. Enjoy!
can i travel 43 european countries in 45 days
You travelled the world on a very less budget! We should not compromise with the cost especially while travelling devoloping and under developed countries because it may get us trouble sometimes. I recently came across james asquith's video where he share his experience of travelling the world.
That's good advice
Tony - Can you do a Q&A video in celebration of 1K subs?!?!?!?!?
Of course! Stay tuned
@@TonyFlorida you better!
Bro, I am from India I really want to travel the world but I don't have money because I spend all my savings on my girlfriend who left me..😢..so please guide me how to save the money for traveling the world?
❤️
👍
I wanna travel the world one-day with my family
You won't regret it :)
Buddy, you can’t count 401k etc. as “living expenses “ That’s investment and you should be doing that even when you are traveling! That’s almost half your living expenses! I would even argue that with long term travel ideally you should have medical insurance.
I live in SA i wanna go to Nuie and manu remote islands like Samoa etc.
Very cool!
Dude, its not the money that is spent, its the money that is not earned thats the significant expense. Time >>> dollars actually spent on travel. I would do it too, but just cautioning that the math is actually not in favor of traveling, unless the other option was 365 days of unemployment.
That's a good point Akash
What if you have a house to rent out and can travel on rental income?
Beautiful
Thank you :)
Did you work abroad? Or did you spend savings?
I spent savings
I don’t know where I wanna go yet, but I’m fed up with Normal life here in Washington DC.
I’m saving to leave.
How much did you save before starting your traveling?
Enough to cover the full year?
If I was you I would save 6k + money for flight expenses - but if you are a frugal person and thinking of staying in Southeast Asia you can travel for a couple months on only 3k
really just matters how long you were planning to leave for - if you would be staying in cheap accommodations like hostels - & if you are good at budgeting and won’t spend most of your savings on souvenirs
if you just want a couple month get away than it’s definitely achievable - I believe in you 🦋
I had enough saved for the entire trip. But if you don't have enough saved, you can always get an odd job when traveling or even work for accommodation. Best of luck! You won't regret it
I am planning to start traveling too atleast for one whole year and one thing I learned from watching lots of traveling videos is that once you start your journey try to visit as much country as you can without retuning to your country it will save you lots of cash. I am planning for a one year tour of the entire south east Asian countries and end up with Mongolia and did a math of cheap flights visas and cheap hostels and the cost came up to just over $2000 and the rest of the expenses depends on what you eat and how you travel locally....
I want to travel the world once I finish college, I will work as Oceanograf so I think that I can work anywhere where is sea/water so I cant wait! Idc if Im gonna even be single, I just wanna hace fun.
Go for it! You won't regret it
wow how did you only spend $6000 on all those flights!?
Many hours of bargain flight hunting :)
So if save R100 000, i can do it
Depends on where you want to go

I read that book too :)
Very budget conscious.
Yes thanks to you
We could make this travels better together
:)
@@TonyFlorida don’t doubt that
So cute
😊
Just work remote and travel lol
Great combo
Only problem is saving that much money vs working everyday at home
That's a good point Kadyn

He's spent way too much for the flights. If you just fly to Europe from East Coast, you can fly for less than 200 sometimes. Then make your way to Turkey/Greece through train or Ryanair, where you can go to Central Eurasia, like Tajikistan, etc. This shouldn't cost more than few hundred. Then go to South East Asia, and work your way to East Asia (Korea and Japan). From there Fly to Australia. You can make a separate trip to South America after homing back in the states. This can be done cheaply by going to Mexico and fly out to Chile, Argentina, etc. In total, it should definitely be less than 5000. Australia is the problem here and I think you can skip it altogether unless you love Koalas and kangaroos. It will bring the total fare closer to 3000.
You're right. Definitely could have saved a bunch on flights if I had optimized it better
I Left the middle of America and spent 5 weeks in Hawaii. And from the time I left home to getting back home, I figured I spent about $297. And I even made $140 while I was over there, having fun.
I have also wondered off to many other parts of the world, in all 28 time zones or all 24 Longitudes. Many years I was on 40 or more airplanes. I think I've been wondering off, since I was in diapers.
I taught you good
Yes you did :)
He did not travel the world for a year. He traveled some contries in a random nonsene way
So, you spent a year's worth of salary with no income? Granted, you were able to travel, but what did you put back in the bank? Did you have to live with parents to make up the years salary? Because, your subscribers and views are very low considering other youtubers. At least you got the experience.
During my time off, I didn't earn or save much (although I still was able to max out my IRA). I spent my savings instead. Although this channel isn't successful relative to other UA-camr channels as you have pointed out, I simultaneously worked on other projects including other YT channels and websites. I'm almost at the point where all of my projects are collectively making me enough money to live off of!
That’s hella cheap
Thanks for the video and for sharing. My plan is to make $30k (R450k) from crypto and use that to travel for at least 6 months. Life is too short.
For sure! The future is not guaranteed
How do u make money from it :0
30k will be enough to travel for a year !!
18 countries is not travelling world
What is then ? How many countries have you traveled 🤔
