Great video. My wife and I retired 2 1/2 years ago, sold everything we have and have been traveling the world. 16 countries and 12 cruises later, we are still loving it. We do our best to travel during the low seasons which helps our budget and use the public transportation and slow travel has also saved us money. thatnks sharing.
You are literally my favorite account. I dont use instagram and i literally go on safari to look at your posts hahah youre so funny & your story is amazing! Please never stop!!!
Thank you for sharing your cost of travel! This is really helpful. My husband and I are getting ready to take a gap year in April..Vietnam is our first stop. Btw..We are from Charlotte NC, too.
I’ve just found your channel, I think I’ve missed everything 😂 We’ve been travelling for the past 2 years, doing the slow travel so we like to stay at least one month in one location. We’ve spent combined $29K(AUD)
This is so amazing, thanks for sharing! My husband and I just started on our sabbatical trip with the same budget. We found it a bit tiring to be constantly planning. Curious how you and Peter felt living full time traveling?
It's interesting to watch your videos, but I could never do this. Trying to manage travel expenses for an entire year and being constantly over budget sounds more stressful than my actual job.
Love your content! Thank you for sharing your journey with all of us! If something crazy happens and you manage to go way under budget will you keep traveling until you hit $45,000? Or is March 1st a set date that you'll be returning to the States?
hahaha I don't think we will manage to be way under budget by March 1. We are currently in the process of trying to figure out life/plans post March 1!
So now that you guys have gained some social media attention, why don't you just enlarge your budget by the amount of money you get from it? Something like: if the social media brought you 5k that would boost your travel budget to nice and round 50k. Not trying to be smartass, just wanted to push the damn daily average bellow the goal :DD .
We wanted to challenge ourselves to stick to 45k since it's a very reasonable amount to travel on for a year! It's tempting to expand the budget but also easy to get carried away. We really like our budget travel style...more memories that way! Also we're pretty frugal people at heart...if there was unlimited budget we'd probably still travel like we were on a budget.
Only used travel insurance when we went back to the United States since our health insurance we decided not to do USA coverage since it was more expensive. Phone plan used google fi but they cut you off after 3 months. We re made google fi accounts when we were back in the states. Peter also had T-Mobile
Where would you recommend for a first time solo traveler? I'm thinking maybe Philippines or Vietnam for 1 month but I can't decide which cities/places to choose... I can't go to Thailand though because of vaccine requirements. Any suggestions?
I don’t know off hand but I feel like you can’t go wrong anywhere in Southeast Asia! Only have been to vietnam, bali and thailand and loved all 3 of them!
@@MsHahahahaha2222 thanks for the reply, I actually recently did a full month in Vietnam, then 16 days in Seoul and now almost month on Japan. I think I'll fly to Phillipines next I've only got 3 nights left here! Why don't you like manilla btw? That's where I'll be flying to
@@claireandpeter thanks - I see so before you guys plan to visit your next country, you would plan exactly how many days you want to stay and buy a next flight out ticket ? Or you used onward ticket that way you would have more flexibility..
lol every single thing you say is so expensive. why would you set a goal that's so low when you want to do things like take group tours, hire cars and multiple internal flights in thailand? no offence but it just really seems like you were totally clueless about how much things really cost. for that style of travel I'd want to budget more like 200-250 usd/day

Ahhh no way! That is so exciting! Vietnam was one of our favorite countries we visited, I hope you have a great experience there as well!

Perfect way for not cheating!
Do you guys have a travel health insurance that you use? Also- what do you do for cell service?
Only used travel insurance when we went back to the United States since our health insurance we decided not to do USA coverage since it was more expensive.

This is very cool how detailed you have it !!! You both used to work in finance right? Lol
Yep good ole corp finance!
Where do you buy health insurance?
Love that bingo made it the video hahaha
Hey did you guys have to provide proof of return flight ticket when you travel from one country to another ? How did you do it ?
Some countries required it! Just about every time we had a flight out of a country before we got in so wasn’t an issue
@@claireandpeter thanks - I see so before you guys plan to visit your next country, you would plan exactly how many days you want to stay and buy a next flight out ticket ? Or you used onward ticket that way you would have more flexibility..
Yeah we would do a rough itinerary of days in each spot we want to stay!
Bingo is definitely attached to both of you
Wau the budget for egypt per day just showed me u guys didn’t know anything about traveling when you started
The average per day is $123! (Let me know if you meant something else)
Geographically, I'm puzzled. It feels like you could have synched up a few countries better to minimize air fares...no?
Total budget for exploring whole world in dollars??
Yes
Y'all should keep traveling!
currently in the process of figuring out life post march 1 🙃

I'm guessing this is in usd?
Correct!
@@claireandpeter thanks
How do you afford this life style?
$183/day in Jordan??? I was in Jordan in 2010, granted a long long time ago but I remember it being dirt cheap.
We rented a car while we were there also the cost of the flight is included in the number!
Share your income and savings too please
