Sounds quite realistic. At that price I would expect good value for money. We'll have to see how well it stands the test fo time! Great review. Thanks for uploading.

I had ordered and received the Colas 56049 & DCR 56091 with sound and yes agree with all your points and as an overall package it just pips the Accurascale Class 37 to top spot which for me was the class leader, but I think now the Cavalex 56 can take that crown until the next diesel model that comes along.
I love this model so much I today had purchased the GBRf Farewell Railtour Pack of 56081 & 56098 with sound from Ultimate Model Railways, the sound from these Class 56's is just phenomenal along with the detail & build quality, it just sounds and feels rock solid.
I have also been configuring my 56's using Lokprogrammer adjusting the bass & treble to get even more out of the decoder/speaker and also configured the cab lights to switch off when moving forward and come back on when stopped whereas out of the box the cab lights stay on when moving thus you would have to manually switch them off.
Cavalex have nailed it with this product and have ordered their Ltd Edition DCR 60029 with sound from Key Publishing and also Cappagh 60028 with sound and would think these will be equally awesome.
I think Accurascale have to step up lol.

If I borrow my mates lokprogrammer is it fairly straightforward to set the cab lights up like you’ve done? Cheers Darrell 😊

Great review Matt. I first saw the Cavalex Class 56 at the Rails of Sheffield event mentioned in the manual and was impressed. Since then watching the 😢later versions develop and the sound files to go with it, a pre order was a must for me. I am delighted with the results and my 56077 that arrived this week. I might have a loose connection to the second cab light and I am not sure the station announcers on F29 and F30 work, but it is not really a passenger puller, and everything else makes up for these minor issues. The Cavalex 56 now leads the field, and I have Class 60 on order and yes I am tempted to add more of both to my fleet in time.

What an outstanding video about the Cavalex Class 56049 model and i wonder if it was a fire pull handle as above the cab is a telephone aerial.

A good overall video of this log here Matt, I have to say I am tempted by one as currently the only 56 I have is an old mainline one and it to my knowledge doesn’t run very well at the moment, if I do get one I would personally like to get coal sector as I have a rake of 25 hornby HAA hoppers and they would go perfect with it, overall nice loco here Matt.

I’ve seen a 47, but not the 50!! It looks like a later version of the 47?

Great model review Matt. I had the model of 56091 as a DC model and to be honest. Whilst I like the detail and it does look nice cosmetically but my model can barely pull 8 tank cars. So I am not impressed with the performance on mine. I will be sticking with Hornby and I cancelled my pre-orders of the Class 60's from Cavalex Models as well until I see how others are getting on with their models. I am glad your model is working okay though mate. Sadly I cannot say the same thing and intend to replace mine with a Dapol Class 52. I mostly cover American and Canadian model trains these days because I find they are better made in my experiences. .
    All the best
    Peter.

8 tank cars? I have two of these monsters (56023 and 56093) and tested each of them up to 72 American freight cars, they would have pulled more if I had room to put more on! I think my Bachmann 47s managed 54 cars and they certainly out pull my Scaletrains SD40T-2 and SD45s, both of which top out at 68 cars. You sure you're not running an ancient Dapol class 56 from the 1980s with the traction tyres removed if its struggling with so few?! This Cavalex 56 is an absolute animal, with more grunt than I've seen on most other British models.

Something to check with yours, my 56093 arrived with the bogies wedged out of alignment on the protective cradle and this had spread the bogie sides. Not a major issue as the model is designed so that it can be converted to P4 by spreading the bogie sides apart and mine just popped back together as intended. I have heard that on some of these this can pop the worm gear mounting out of alignment on the gear tower if the model has taken a knock in transit, which can jam up the affected bogie.

@@Simon-Davis No this is definitely the new Cavalex Models one mate. Maybe I have a duff model as my example seems to struggle and I did a review of it on my channel.

Thanks for the tips buddy. I don't want to risk breaking the model as it is a nice looking one. But I am selling mine one and I will replace it with an Accurascale Class 92 in its place.

    • @Simon-Davis

@@BritishRail60062 I'll be honest, I've had torrid times with my Accura locomotives. So much so that I've got shot of all of my 37s and replaced them with Bachmann models. According to Accurascale, my DCC controllers "track voltage is too low". Which is strange, because its ramped up to be able to cope with running LGB models out in the garden so I know its not a voltage or ampage problem as it is measured at 18.4v and supplies up to 8A; I'd say more likely to be the models being as it was only a certain 3 class 37s.

Knowing the price of a DCC Sound chip, you must be very rich to afford one already fitted to a model locomotive!!
