Wow!! Your landing gear has two gears for a reason. dropping a empty trailer you use the high gear and when the pads hit the ground you unhook. A loaded trailer if you drop it like that you will not get back under it to rehook so when you unhook a loaded trailer you put down until the pads hit and then you switch to low gear and crank it about ten times then unhook
Hey there Y. A good idea is install a New 7-way Plug in the Bed of your truck ( Driver’s side ) Sometimes those bumper plugs in extremely bad weather get really dirty and could play havoc on your brakes and lighting systems. If you do this you may want to replace trailer end also. Cheap SAFE Maintenance. Have a Great Day.
@12:30. If it was welded inside C channel. That would cause a weak point. It’s inside a cutout. The weld stabilizes. When you weld you burn into the metal. It changes the temper a bit. (Nirmally) The weld is stronger then surrounding metals which are slightly weakened. IF they weld into C channel from both sides. You penetrate all the way thru.
The problem with the brakes is: Over time the heat they take makes those two springs stop having the necessary force to close the shoes, You would only have to change all the springs and the problem would be solved. (There are two pistons that make it open and two springs that close). Do not spend money on the whole set
Maybe someone has already suggested this....You could hang/weld another tool box above your present one. Leave enough space that you could still access the lower one. A cheap addition, in my opinion, and it might get you blankets, etc out of the weather and dirt.
Those welds keeps me from getting anything from that brand, you gotta check out Diamond C Fmax210 down the road when it's time to upgrade. Stay safe out there on the roads Yousiff :-)
Hi. I see a lot of badly worn tires, especially the inside ones. They have to be rotated and as they are radial, the direction of rotation cannot be changed, for that; rim A (steering wheel side out) and rim B (in side) We take A to B to the passenger side and B to A and do the same with the passenger side (This is for tandem trailers) For singles we have to disassemble the rim and turn the rim. Always remember that you cannot change the direction of rotation that the tire says in its specification. This applies to the truck as well. I do this every 2 weeks.

Bro so for every inch of weld it is able to support 7000 lbs. also the material used to weld that steel together is stronger then the metal the trailer is made of. If you were putting 500,000 lbs on the trailer then I would be concerned about a week point, but for the weight your hauling you have nothing to worry about as far as weak points with steel on your trailer
Thanks for all of your videos Yousiff! I'm on my way out of the military and I'm going to start hotshot soon. You're a true testament to the fact that if you work hard anything is possible.
Thank you! I thought about buying a Big Tex, but after watching your video I've decided not to buy a Big Tex and to look at other brands. Nothing dissuades me more from buying something than poor quality. I would rather spend 3 times more on a trailer that will last 5 times longer. If I ever run into you on the road - I'll buy your dinner!
2 things (I work for a Big Tex Dealer in the Midwest) They sold you the wrong Brake assembly....Thats for 3500lbs axle... 2nd thing Those winch rails were probably put on after it left the factory, At the Dealership, If the come from the factory they are one piece.... If you buy the winch rails after market... They come in 6ft sections.... Thats 18ft of rail. Also Where in Texas did you purchase? I know this video is 3 years old... I am more just giving you insight and curious where you purchased in Texas.
I have a Diamond C. Welds are perfect and the front steps retract so you don't have a issue with them bending. I got the FMAX 207 35' with super-singles 17.5" LR-H and pull out ramps for about $10,900. The tool box is huge and has a double gas strut assist and a solid lock. Build quality is FIRST rate. Truck and trailer weigh about 15,100 lbs. so with 26,000 plated weight I have a solid 10,000 lb. capacity. Only have 10,000 miles on the Diamond C but no problems so far. My 2011 RAM 3500 has 203,000 and going strong. Putting 19.5's with Michelin XDS 2 tires on next week. Works for me hauling 40' containers and the fuel millage and maneuverability are great. Just my opinion but I think you will find duals are a pain in the ass. A super-single is much better built tire and there is only one tire to check. Duals; if the pressure is not balanced the tires will have a different compressed radius and will wear one against the other. I'm able to get 80,000 miles out of duals on another vehicle by keeping both inside and outside tire exactly the same pressure but most people simply hit the tires with a hammer to see if they are inflated and leave it at that. You can see they be complaining about tire wear latter.
Definitely considering my next one to be a Diamond C. I am looking at a tri-axle though. What's your take on them? Also, to insure equal pressure on your tow rig, do you use a system like Crossfire to equal each tire?
@@johnschubert4665 I have the Crossfire on my dually and like it. If I were to get a dual axle trailer I think it would be a good investment for it as well. What is the trailer you have GVWR? Not sure if you know this, but your complaint about welds being the weak spot is something that’s not true. The weld area in fact is actually stronger than the materials being welded. You likely will never break a good weld, the material would more than likely shear before or after the weld zone if anything was to fail. To have this happen, would take lot of force, so much force, that the trailer would likely not be useable. Example of enough force, a collision directly impacting the trailer. Normal day to day use, not likely you’ll break a properly cleaned and prepped weld.

I saw in a video by Tow Piglet that Big Tex uses thin wall axles and they start to bend which causes premature tire wear on the inside tires. His axle eventually broke while going down the road and he had to replace it on the side of the highway. You should get a straight edge and check if the axle is starting to bend and replace it before you get stranded.

Great video brother. I have a Big Tex trailer myself with mega ramps. But I installed the slide rails myself and liked them very much. I have a video up if you want to check it out. Its nice to see you hit 40k miles. Great job and keep up the good work.
Your wear out is related to axles that are not square. I had the similar issue, where I had to pay for two axles to stay on the road. Because of that I'm not sure I will go with another Big Tex. I happened to have a delivery near the Dexter factory and they had train loads of axles ready to move, so why, if Big Tex is such a huge customer, did they not provide the axles needed. I think steering away from Big tex and Dexter is the way to go.

I think I have seen enough BT reviews to say I probably wouldnt buy one, unless it was super cheap, as they seem to have quite a bit of poor or unfinished work that has to be repaired post sale. A brand new priced trailer should have a pristine condition deck, and it sucks the dealer didnt jump over backwards to fix the deck asap, but would rather push you off to warranty the deck..that kinda told me all I need to know about how they take care of their customers.
Winch track is made in 6’ or 8’ pieces. This is why you see welds on the track at the seam. Perfectly normal and nothing against Big Tex, has everything to do with the lengths the track is manufactured in.
In reference to the strange/uneven tire wear: I’ve seen a few big Tex trailers now that have really thin walls on the axle tubing that cracks and eventually fails so you may want to look into how thick your axle walls are and possibly upgrading to thicker ones.
Id say check your tire pressure for the 2 tires giving you issues. Make sure all tires are as close in pressure as possible. As far the poor or subpar quality on this trailer. It could happen with any brand here & there. This one just happened to slip through qc. Always, always, always look over your trailer before hooking up to a new or used purchase. It will only help you & the seller with quality and warranty issues. With used trailers, it may save you repair cost down the road by preventing a bad sale. CYOA

CYOA
That’s crazy how many axles are on that semi trailer next to you.
great video On The Road
Which is more preferred straight flat deck or dove tail.
I bought a straight deck but having a dovetail will give you much wider option with loads
Thanks for insight and be safe.
Sir why not make a small deck on your neck,to put some supplys, and put a chain rack on your trailer.this will make more room in tool box.
That is a great idea, I think I be looking into that soon!
@@ontheroad7097 Don"t do it. You will regrest it. If you do ever get a trailer with an upperdeck make sure that it is bolted on
Check 3 point trailer alignment for tire where
Thanks for sharing information about your trailer! I love your videos and get excited when a new up comes up 😃👍

Good afternoon
Like you said , this Factory need better welders , It is a lot of welding to be done on the crossmembers underneath the trailer.
You need to find time to take the trailer to the Factory due that with the weight this crossmembers Will

Carlos you are always on top with comments, thank you!
What did you do about the semi truck
I put two drivers on them (team)
@@ontheroad7097 yeah I know but I was asking about did you bought a trailer ?
Welder comment. Lol. Actually a weld is stronger than the part it's self that's being welded. Watch a few videos of AWS bend tests. 👍😁
I was laughing hard. 😅 All those weak points 🙄
Correctly welded joints are stronger than the surrounding steel. Facts.
Always check your trailer young man...
Sup yosuf, if I buy a 40 ft trailer, what is the GWR requirement for non cdl hauling?
Also, would you still suggest buying my trailer from Big Tex despite some flows on your truck?
I think GVWR should not be 12k if your truck’s GVWR is 14k. Well bigtex is the cheapest. If you could afford buying a better one I would say go for it
@@ontheroad7097 as long as the combined GVWR is less than the 26001 pounds you’re good. My truck is 15k gvwr and the trailer is derated at 11k gvwr. I have the same trailer as you but from Kaufman
@@holguineroloco What type of truck you using that is 15K??

so what you asking for it?
Also rotating the tires
your doing fine KEEP GOING...

Add a nut for that spare tire and strap it down or you’ll loose it down the road.
I lost one, turned around and had to go find it. Luckily I seen it rolling off into the grass. First and last time I carried a tire like that. Got that spare mount I had been thinking about for a few years haha

You better bring it to a shop, and reweld it and spraycoat, this is a typical made in USA issue, they always cut corners to increase the profit, you never would see that from Made in Germany or Japan stuff of loosing their honor Menthality. 🤔🇺🇸😩🇩🇪🇯🇵👍

That trailer is a mess ..its no good. The Attorney General need to take a closer look at this company..they are doing slapy work..this trailer is not fit to be out on the road
Ironbull trailers the best!
For one you can't put both of them tractors on that trailer that are on it in one of your videos. The two blue tractors on the trailer at the same time was to much. I had the same trailer. You are putting to much weight on it.
You get what you pay for !!
