Excellent tutorial, just followed it to the letter and completed the service without any problems. Many thanks for sharing the knowledge, it's much appreciated!
oi mate, excatly what i was looking for beneath many useless matches up in front. Simply and easy what, where and how. Saving up some money . Well Done! Greets from Germany
Iulian Nueloiu Yeap it’s pretty much underneath the battery tray, battery and tray has to come off to get access to it, looks just like the oil filter cap 👍
After you change fuel filter it’s necessary to degassing fuel system otherwise it can lead to high pressure pump or injectors change.. it can be done by turning ignition for 7-10 times on and off (electric pump will fill the system) or with diagnostic tool go to tests ant press fuell pump test, run it for 30-60 seconds till sound of pump lowering. And that’s it..
The owner was splashing the cash on this one 😁, not really believe or not it's cheaper to get VW genuine service parts rather than aftermarkets .... The filters are always in good shape with this one, I service this Skoda every 3 months or so changing the air filter oil filter and oil, and every 6 months all filters ....Cheers mate👍👍👍
Excellent video, i have to do this job tomorrow on my Superb 3V with this engine, the oil filter was easier to get to on my last Superb 3T, it being on top, now they put it underneath, crazy.
Beware, there is one significant problem! Since the cabin filter is horizontal and there is dirt on the top, you are not able to pull the filter out so that the dirt does not fall directly into the fan! And there, at best they just rattle, at worst they make a bigger mess. Always when replacing, you need to use a sheet metal jig that slides under the filter before removing it! It can be bought, but of course you can just make your own. That's what the debris that gets collected during the change attacks. It's a hassle, but it's true. I don't know why the designers didn't use a vertical fan like they used to. So watch out for that!
Nice video! I'd recommend using 13mm socket to open the oil filter drain port before using the 32mm one so that you don't get as much of a mess as you did. 😅
How's she goin'? Good job!! It's great to do your own maintenance and being able to access the onboard computer is pretty sweet too!! Thanks for posting...

Hi mate. Hanging fuel filter looked starightforward providing right size used - but is there anything that could go wrong? Heard someone said mpg dropped after he’d done it
Oyston Out hello mate Straightforward indeed super simple, I guess the only thing that could go wrong is leaks perhaps but would be pretty obvious because the smell etc and it would affect miles per tank... otherwise it shouldn’t affect mpg unless O2 sensors aren’t working properly or not changing the air filter I guess 👍 cheers
Hi friend. Is this the same way you change fuel filter in old skoda octavia 1.9tdi diesel rider 2006? Whether it requires only inner filter or entire metal filter ? Please
Hi. Would you be so kind to share the type of DELPHI software? Im just going to make the first oil and filter exchange my SKODA, and based on this video i'am sure going to succes. Thanks a lot for this video!
Thanks for the great video. But these still one question. How to change the oil in the gearbox. The service people say it is kinda "not necessary", however there's an opinion you still had better do it after some 80-100 000 km. For me it sounds reasonable. But I have no idea how to refill the gearbox oil. You can easily find the drain plug underneath the gearbox, but I cannot find the refill plug.
Steeldime A I got my local mechanic to change the gearbox oil at 85k miles. He said the oil that came out looked very dirty, well worth doing at a cost of around €30, will be changing it again soon after experiencing gearbox problems in previously owned non-Skoda cars.
Not quite they can't but help look for any other problems or potential problems at the same time because they then stand to make even more money so in effect your usually getting a lot more than just the work carried out in terms of them inspecting it as a matter of course.
Having done the fuel filter myself on VAG cars, you’re supposed to use your software (e.g VCDS) to prime the new fuel filter before you start it. If you don’t, you risk starving the high pressure fuel pump which can lead to premature wear and issues.
Or if you don't own a VCDS as a get around, you could fill the chamber with Diesel additive, or fresh diesel to avoid air getting into the system. I just use a diesel additive which helps clean out the injectors at the same time.
@@BenStatereally? I heard that you have to put the contact few times on and off to prime the sistem. You can prime it also with the door open and closed? The car must be lock and unlock in the same time?
Hi man great video. Could you please help me out, when pulling fuel filter out it's get stuck halfway out not sure why. Is there something that could hold it at the bottom? Thanks
Hi there. Quick question. I’m about to change the oil on my Octavia 1.6 TDI. Which way does the sump plug loosen? Mines is on really tight and don’t want to wreck it.😂
Nice, clear, easy-to-follow vid. ..thanx for the upload. Quick question: in the new oil filter box there's 3 items: filter, large rubber o-ring/seal [both mentioned] and a small, separately bagged, rubber o-ring [not mentioned here] ..what is this last item for? Thanx in advance 👍🏻
The small o ring is for the drain plug on the filter housing. The plug is in the middle at the bottom of the housing and should be removed before you take off the housing as it allows you to drain any oil from the filter.
@@CarsExposed Incorrect. The small o ring is for the oil filter housing drain plug. This is a step that was missed and why oil went everywhere. The oil filter drain plug is removed first, o ring replaced and then the entire filter housing and filter.

You must fill the tank of fuel filter with electronic comand of the fuel pump.
some do, some dont
What I am doing is sucking out all fuel around filter, wipe everything put in new filter and top up diesel from can and then close
