As an art teacher and sculptor this is such an important message. I'm constantly trying to convince my students that you have to draw your ideas first, even if its not good! When you have an idea you build it in your mind, then when you draw it you're building it in 2d, and finally when you make the final one you've made it three times now! Thanks for this Raquel, love your work.
That is such an awesome lesson to teach and a really cool way to think about the artistic process. I love the idea of "building something in your mind!" Thanks for sharing and for watching :-)
My personal favorite part of my job is when people come in just to sketch...especially when they never have sketched before because I know it's like a gateway "drug"!! I am always so excited to start them off and be a part if it :)
That's so special and awesome! One of my best friends, who has never done anything artistic in his life, called me up the other day because he wanted advice on how to get into painting. It's gotta be cool to help people out like that all the time :-)
I've only been crafting for a few years, but drawing for my whole life. So, obviously, loved this video. Also, my wife wants to start crafting and literally earlier today I was telling her she should sketch first. Perfect timing! 😆
Can confirm that "dralling" is useful in everyday life. As an ironworker its useful to have an artistic side to be able to draw out parts of blueprints that maybe dont make sense to someone else. Throwing together a "comic style" panel sketch of steps to achieve the end goal is super useful! i never really made the connection though! Super awesome!
Absolutely agree with your points about the benefits of drawing. I also like to draw some of my main npcs for when I DM just so the players have a clearer idea of to whom their talking.
Clapping over the web for you, and this video! Excellent work. This reinforced my goal to draw more often, and it's really great to see how other people use drawing to help them.
Wow - digital claps :-) Thanks friend! I'm glad I was able to add a little fuel to your drawing fire...but to be fair I feel like YOUR video inspired me first! hahaha
I have always been terrible at drawing, which has always discuraged me from doing it. Lately the fact that I don't draw basically at all has been bugging me more and more, especially as I have been picking up other artistic hobbies for the first time and discovering that I'm actually good at them and enjoy them. I don't think today will be the day that I finally pick up a pencil again, but I think this video has made that day closer. Thank you for that.
Nice video, and I want to give thanks for all of this artist telling us how they feel drawing, its inspirational. For me, ok I don´t draw before to start a project, or didn´t draw until now, I have to do it. But.. I love the wargames, and specifically the rules so I usually write in my old notebook all of this ideas, spells, special habilities or simply the numbers of a parameter and its so relaxing to me. Waiting the next video.
Thanks Jose! Yes, I'm thankful to the artists who helped make this video as well :-) And I agree even just the necessity of writing things down in tabletop gaming is so valuable!
Another great video :) You don't need to go out of your way to make impressive projects (Batty is still magnificent! :D). Sometimes a nice sketch or good conversation can make all the difference! This video really helped me this week and I can't wait to see what's next. Keep up the good work :)
Hi Ben! Thanks for this. It makes me happy to hear you enjoy the projects big and small :-) And I'm glad to hear this video helped brighten your week. I appreciate you watching and commenting - I'll be back to the BIG projects next week B-)
You're so welcome! I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed it! My mom is a kindergarten teacher and the subject of doodling/drawing/coloring was a frequent topic in our household growing up :-) Thanks for inspiring young folks to be creative!
Great idea for a video, something new and fresh from regular terrain channels ☺️ I am however a lil dissapointed I didn’t see Django 😭 but I followed ur insta so got to see him on there 🥰
@@RaqrexArt 😬 I must have looked away for the few seconds😢 thanks for pointing it out! Glad he made it in the video, I love seeing him 🥰 has he been fine? No more seizures I hope
@@JakeDogg-RIP Haha no worries! His cameo was very short in this video. He seems to be doing really well! Took him on a trail run today and he did great :-)
This is awesome, I'm no artist but I'm going to go out aan try to make...something drawn for my next DND campaign. The world could use more mental health tasks and also more tabletop stuff.
I think the mental health and TTRPG stuff really does go well together. Especially, in this crazy year...we could all use a break from reality from time to time.
Hi Raquel, mud in your face? Hahaha Great video. I use to draw when I was teenager, but muy mind works better than my hands hahaha so i chance the pencil for the keyboard and i writte as a hobby now. Great group of Friends. Hope things gets better with ur dog. Miguel
Thanks Miguel! And ding ding ding - it is in fact a mud mask! That's awesome that you're a writer. I love how everyone has different outlets that end up working best for them. For minis and terrain i think learning to draw/sketch would be useful for freehanding logos, graffiti etc. Its not something i have ever really done, i went from scale model kits to minis and terrain. Never considered myself artistic at all but i can see where it would help
That would be a great application of a doodle - graffiti is just doodling with spray paint, right? Or in mini version pretending to spray paint with brushes haha
@@RaqrexArt i just got some nice minis from raging heroes that would look great on a diorama with some graffiti, might be time for me to try some drawing

I like to sketch out my terrain/scenery ideas before I start, and include it in my videos when I do. This is a great take on it!
It's so helpful! Even when I don't do a full on sketch there is always at least a doodle or scribble of a bigger project or idea :-)
