Thanks for your endorsement for ACE as a training tool. I am competing against myself right now, so not really too concerned about the leaderboard right now.
@@bluyetiinc7553 thank you 🙏 I used to do a scoop draw on passive retention but because I'm switching guns/holsters so often it isn't as effective. If you've got a consistent setup than yes, I'd recommend perfecting a scoop draw to save the .20-.30 seconds in the motion. If I've got retention it's a snatch as well 👍
@SHEPDEV - Hey mate glad to see your review of Ace. You convinced me to get the smokeless range back in the day and was very helpful in answering questions. I was glad to see a familiar name on the leader boards. Your points are spot on. I have been using it up improve myself and don't care about the leader board scores. It's great that ACE captures my best previous score so I can always work towards a better time/score. One thing I wish was the ability to set up your own targets as one could practice challenging set ups they have encountered in a match. - Hope ACE listens to this feedback.
Hey, thanks for the feedback man! I agree it's a worthwhile program, and the head-to-head multiplayer aspect is a significant win that I should have mentioned as well. If they can get custom stages going that will be amazing!!
I was wondering if that was the REAL SHEPDEV. Thats awesome, I know you are up on leaderboards with skill. lol. ALSO are you getting a skip/lag when you transition really fast or if the stage has alot of movers or cover??? Example like the SHOT SHOW stage? It also has tendency for gun to jump when you hit the bottom to reload. I'm running on the Quest 3. It seems it was getting worse since update. I see it a lot running the 2011 race gun. DO you have any adjustments you prefer to set. Thank you.
Ha! Yes sir, t'was I hiding in the shadows 🙋 And yes I've noticed those same issues on my Quest 3 as well. It seems to be good when I start it up and then the more I play the busy stages like the Shot Show one, the more it will randomly lag and ruin a shot/transition. I just found that resetting Ace alleviated the problem for a bit. This is the only thing installed on a new Quest 3 so it's likely not the hardware. Nothing I've found in the settings to fix it unfortunately 🤷😔

tried a short session without the handset and the lag is horrible imo. But my eyes are a bit quicker than average and I noticed a bunch of small details. It's a bit unplayable. Im hoping the handset "fixes" these issues because ACEVR "recommends" using the handset... We'll see but I'm not really impressed with how much it costs vs how laggy and buggy it is. Product should be fairly polished before released ... Super fun and awesome that we have a video game in VR dedicated to shooting sports tho... All it is at this point is a video game imo. I can't practice vision if it's laggy... @SHEPDEV_ONLINE
I was playing today and I noticed I was getting a zero score then noticed I was halfway out of the box, so maybe this is fixed. I’ll have to test tomorrow.
Thanks for the review. I saw another reviewer teleport closer to the targets as though it was no big deal. But I thought, "why is that allowed to happen? It wouldn't be allowed at a real match."
Haha, yes! That's one of the constraints of a VR platform unfortunately. You need the physical space to move around the stage. So if it's a stage that has 10 meters of playable area, most people don't have that much straight open space in their houses to move at full speed without running into an object. Some guys play outside where it is wide open to alleviate that issue. But otherwise, it's teleporting 🤷
My opinion as someone who's currently using Ace: I honestly prefer there to be some cheaters on the board. What motivation do you have to improve if you're the top of the leader board? Better to be #2 chasing a cheater to improve than #1 without the same incentive to improve.
@@KeterMalkuth ah, if the top competitors weren't within 1% of eachother then this might be the case, but there is tons of competition to stay on top without cheating. If you're the #1 guy across even 50% of the drills, then you've got incentive to stay there, and if guys are #2 they have a legitimate incentive to beat #1 because they know it is possible. Looking at a cheaters times that are 40% better than a GM's times really take the wind out of the sails.
Im usually in the top 8-15 of the practice leaderboards for some the stages I frequent and I wonder how tf some dudes make their times and DAYMN now I can see now how they were able to shave seconds off on some of these stages
@@SHEPDEV_ONLINE Def sucks for sure . priority for me is deliberate practice of very specific skills that I need to work on or refine so scores are incidental. I start every course of fire from a ‘pseudo draw’ position appendix style from below the waist since I don’t have a holster for this. It puts me behind but I get more meaningful practice than I would trying to ‘game the game’ by doing so since the goal is real competitions and not virtual ones
Ace is designed in such a way that it's massively more effective for developing your fundamental shooting skill. First off, ghosts of tabor isn't designed to use the handset that Ace is. Second off, Ace has immediate and effective feedback on your performance across the board. If you aren't target focused, aren't gripping the gun correctly, don't have the correct index developed, you won't perform the way you need to. By all means it doesn't replace either dry fire nor range time, but it *does* fill in third piece in the puzzle that otherwise can only be developed through running real competition stages, something most of us can't do on a regular basis if not for Ace.
