All the pop acts rip off stuff from NIN's live show all the time. To this day I haven't seen a band with better live sound. There's an amphitheater near me with notoriously bad sound, and they even sounded good there!

From Ruiner on is just a freaking masterpiece. Reptile is so hard hitting for such a slow song. The last half of the album is just BIG. Like it's made for being played in front of large crowds at festivals and arena shows to get the grandness (word?) of it, if that makes sense.
Me, playing this very loud in my car with the windows down. People on the sidewalk as I sat on red at an intersection, see them screaming, "YEEEAAAH!!!" back at me. Good times.

A bit of context here: Trent Reznor was EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the way his record label, TVT, was handling him and his music and demanded they let him out of his contract. They, of course, refused at which point NIN went all Prince on them (but without changing his name). This EP, Broken, was recorded under a fake band name to prevent any TVT influence. So he wasn't happy with his recording situation, but the music actually reflects what Trent felt like playing live during the Lollapalooza shows of 1991. Fun fact: this EP was recorded in the same house where the Manson family committed the Tate murders.
Trent Reznor started composing film and television scores in 2010. He’s teamed up with David Fincher on several films, including SOCIAL NETWORK winning an OSCAR for best original score.
Wish is from a mini album he did that was about his anger at the way his record company was treating him. Just some of the most aggressive, purposefully abrasive music ever. I love it.

No one ever suggests Ringfinger, probably one of my favorites from Pretty Hate Machine. Definitely a very experimental early song for Trent and worth a listen.
Trent wrote this E.P at a time when he was very pissed off. He was fighting with his crappy record label amongst other thing and needed an outlet which was broken. TVT Records were the label.
Lex, My God, Girl! You just got NIN! It is chaos incarnate....but so intricate. Trent Reznor has a beautiful and very terrifying mind when it comes to crafting music. Also, "Starfuckers INC." with Marilyn Manson as a groupie in the video is an interesting song as well. Anyway, thanks for all the hard work :)

Broken, Downward Spiral and The Fragile were what I was listening to recovering from childhood abuse. Trent took all my feelings and put em into words that made sense then put those words to music that conveyed how I felt. I was hooked.
I recommend a Nine Inch Nails “Somewhat Damaged” live from Roskilde Music Festival in Denmark 2009. It’s a dominating performance of one of their biggest songs. Highly recommend that you review it. It shows how well they play live and how well they command a crowd. It’s pure intensity. It should be the top result if you search it on UA-cam. Keep up with the great content!

This is real Industrial Rock - a genre which ran alongside of punk in the Eighties. Check out Skinny Puppy and Ministry too. Marilyn Manson is probably the epitome of the genre.
As far as we're splitting hairs, I don't think many would agree that Manson is the epitome of the sub-genre. I think Nine Inch Nails and Ministry for sure are much closer to the ontological "center" of industrial metal than Manson, and probably Skinny Puppy as well. (Side note: it's weird knowing Skinny Puppy is a major origin of industrial metal, and to then think they might actually not be as near the 'center' as I initially though). If you only listen to the Antichrist Superstar album I could maybe see labeling him industrial metal, but I feel like whatever you want to label him should reflect the goth metal, glam metal, and shock rock roots that are usually just as prevalent or more.
Nooo good lord no. Manson’s brilliant but I’d hardly class most of their music as industrial tbh. Skinny Puppy and Ministry definitely, Tin Man is absolutely amazing Manson I actually think is difficult to label, one of the reasons I love them. There’s a lot of bands that sound like NiN etc but I can’t think of a single band that sounds like Manson
God you picked a good one. This song still gets me going. It is one of the first songs that is still as powerful now as when I first heard it. The syncopation is like a revving engine at redline rpms.
Prett Hate Machine is my all time favorite. However this album is my 2nd. It was badass if you had this album on cassette you would have to flip the tape (side B) & fast forward, or on the cd go all the way to song 98.
This song reminds me of a powerful engine moving something relentlessly at high speed. A bunch of mechanical shit doing what it does, and a person trying to figure it out. Then you run out of gas at the end. Shit goes absolutely insane for me. Music to my ears.
This song live is fucking insane. DO THE LIVE VERSION! Intense is exactly what the objective was. This is a good version ua-cam.com/video/Vu-_44Lf3Cw/v-deo.html That tickle that Lex can hear is the beginning of the nect sing "Last" which is a banger with a great riff and more clean with its sound so i think Brad would like it.
One of the most impressively produced songs from NIN is Right Where It Belongs. It's a lot simpler, less chaotic, but it still really takes you on a journey.
Top 5 concerts to see Live. A certain person in my family even agrees who is completely jaded by music industry and going to shows. He worked for Nirvana and currently Foos. You should watch them Live. My favorite was with Aaron North on guitar.

Skinny Puppy and Ministry definitely, Tin Man is absolutely amazing
Manson I actually think is difficult to label, one of the reasons I love them. There’s a lot of bands that sound like NiN etc but I can’t think of a single band that sounds like Manson
Broken is always forgotten about in the catalog. It was sandwiched between PHM and TDS. It did spawn Fixed though which is plain awesome.
You have to see them perform this live. I’ve seen them a few times (one being Woodstock 94) and it is insane.
My favourite band, and my sons first live concert. He was 10 and has been a fan before and since.
God you picked a good one. This song still gets me going. It is one of the first songs that is still as powerful now as when I first heard it. The syncopation is like a revving engine at redline rpms.
Love this track. One word: Aggressive.
Prett Hate Machine is my all time favorite. However this album is my 2nd. It was badass if you had this album on cassette you would have to flip the tape (side B) & fast forward, or on the cd go all the way to song 98.
They won a Grammy for this too. Trent Reznor at one point joked that he wanted "Said 'Fist Fuck', Won Grammy" on his tombstone.
This song reminds me of a powerful engine moving something relentlessly at high speed. A bunch of mechanical shit doing what it does, and a person trying to figure it out. Then you run out of gas at the end. Shit goes absolutely insane for me. Music to my ears.
Lex hit the Nine Inch Nail on the head …. CHAOS
Good long-distance driving music, never fall asleep at the wheel.
"Trent is the greatest creative mind of his generation and the only one that will be around in a decade." - David Bowie
NIN Fixed and Broken used to be my go-to albums back in the day, I love 'wish' and yes it's chaos - an exasperated scream at modern society...
NIN won a Grammy in 1993 for this song and Trent later joked that he said "fist f*ck" and won a Grammy for it.
Love seeing a song that lex finally doesn’t get when it’s so easy I respect you lex
The official video for this song is like something out of Mad Max.
The word was, possibly urban legend that Reznor said he wanted his epitaph to read "said fist-fuck, won Grammy."
Physical off this album is great! You really need to just listen to a lot of NIN, they are amazing. Trent is bad ass!
This song is all bleeding ears and speeding tickets and it's amazing.
the actual music video for this is like 20X as intense.
Nine inch nails music are for sure growers but when you get into it, it's so fucking good. Trent Reznor is a musical genius
This song live is fucking insane. DO THE LIVE VERSION! Intense is exactly what the objective was. This is a good version

That tickle that Lex can hear is the beginning of the nect sing "Last" which is a banger with a great riff and more clean with its sound so i think Brad would like it.
One of the most impressively produced songs from NIN is Right Where It Belongs. It's a lot simpler, less chaotic, but it still really takes you on a journey.
This is top tier NIN. Pure rage and chaos. So many layers and textures. I wore this out during my teenage years. Try "Happiness in Slavery" next.
Top 5 concerts to see Live. A certain person in my family even agrees who is completely jaded by music industry and going to shows. He worked for Nirvana and currently Foos. You should watch them Live. My favorite was with Aaron North on guitar.
Such a masterpiece of mayhem! Love this song!
Finally, some more industrial metal - from when NIN did it well
Loved this album sooooooo much when it came out!
