*Disclaimer: Unfortunately, the UA-cam algorithm thrives on titles and thumbnails that could be perceived as clickbait. Although I find this particularly distasteful, as a means of reaching a new audience or encouraging my current audience to invest their time into my videos, I must work with the algorithm rather than against it. Statistics have highlighted just how effective aligning titles with the algorithm is and although this can be frustrating for many (myself included), I will always ensure that my titles:
    1. Never promote false promises or unrealistic expectations.
    2. Will more often than not ask a question.
    3. Are worded in a manner that although might be perceived a certain way, are still open to interpretation.
Appealing to more potential viewers gives me the opportunity to further the spread of what I believe to be useful information surrounding the topic in question, in addition to a positive message which often surrounds mental health, with the goal of helping as many people as possible.
It should also be noted that the majority of my videos are based on audience suggestions. ~90% of my audience are women, therefore, the majority of videos are created to appeal to my dominant audience.
It must also be noted that although goals often vary amongst individuals, a lot of my opinions on movements are within the context of building muscle (hypertrophy) and therefore, should be considered with that in mind.
Thank you for giving me your time.*

Harry, I started going to a strength class because of your videos. I honestly think it’s changed my life, weight lifting is like nature’s antidepressant for me. Every time I lift heavier I get such a rush (doubled my deadlift and push press in 8 weeks! Pretty happy with that, especially as I’m deadlifting one and a half times my body weight now and a couple of months ago I was a complete beginner). I have met new friends and done things I never imagined I would. I’ve joined other classes now - ones I would have been too intimidated to do, like strongman. I’m the only girl who goes and all the guys are super supportive and kind. I love feeling stronger, I notice it in my everyday life. So thank you for inspiring me to get started!

Another thing that should be addressed is the amount of volume these workouts prescribe. Like in the last video, assuming the target audience is beginners, doing 6 sets of biceps and 6 sets of triceps might be too much for a beginner (assuming they are performing those sets to close to failure) and no mention frequency (1, 2, or 3 times a week)

No blame on food ? I mean you can’t out train crap food , so yes certain foods need to be avoided on the daily .. type 2 diabetics should avoid carbs . They really should at least until they reverse the condition .. even if you count all your macros if you’re eating crap food your body won’t thrive ..

I think in France (where I'm from) the bread thing makes a bit more sense, because of the way we eat it as a culture. It isn't part of any meal really, it's more something you eat in between courses, sometimes mindlessly. But yeah, nothing about the bread itself, just the extra calories from mindless eating ;)

Thanks as always Harry because bread and other complex carbs are fantastically healthy and always form the bulk of my diet, including the 18 months when I lost 40kg of fat by implementing a calorie deficit and rediscovering my love of exercise after too many years of middle-aged laziness. I think the whole bread thing is just that a slice of bread is a lot of calories you wouldnt think. Most people dont have the luxury of a high daily spending budget for calories. I myself havent been able to eat bread or potatoes, or beans for 9 months now, because i cant fit them into my macros without increasing my calories. They just dont have enough protein to fit, unless i replace one of my entire meals with a casein+water blend.
Right now im even at the phase where i have been eating mostly chicken broccoli and rice, and i have to get rid of the rice just to loe a few pounds.
And im 200lbs, the problem is i cant fit 200g protein and .3g/lb fat into my diet easily and still lose weight. Something has to go, and 150+ calories just from the bread in a tiny sandwich is not good calorie economics when the budget is already that tight.

I wonder if anyone has done a study of what makes some individuals feel better when including carbs and some feel better when reducing carbs.. I think we needs carbs. But I personally feel amazing when I eat less of them, so not keto, but maybe a step up from keto.

  • @bucyrus5000
    @bucyrus5000 2 місяці тому

Carbs...Man, I tried Keto, and it is great for A1c, but the calorie reduction is the only way to reduce body fat. The minor improvement of a diet that optimizes fat burning is so small as to be near nil. Need to remove body fat? My advise is to get medical help. Make sure your doctor is a lockstep ally who understands the plight. Doctors have always been the weak link in my support group; prescribing meds that destroy my metabolism, actively store fat, or in my most recent case, nearly killed me prescribing a drug that put me in ketoacidosis. That is my step one, vibe check your doctor(s) hard. Step two, fitness and food are tied together. The smartest thing I did before and then after my ketoacidosis near death experience was build glutes and quads. Build those! More big muscles increases your body's use of blood glucose and the ketones pulled from fat stores. It allowed me to lay up during convalescence without significant weight gain, and that building cannot happen without eating protein. The American apocrypha fitness math I use is eat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day and eat ASAP after your workout. That is to say, If you weight 100 lbs. then eat 100 grams of protein a day to build the muscles you worked to failure. Step three, recovery can't be minimized. The pain is good, the pain is bad; both are true at the same time. This is where your doctor, your age, and your diet need to work together. If you failed to eat, you failed to build, and your pain is for nothing. Recovery takes longer as you age and as you get less fit. If recovery is taking 5 days, imo, that is too long and your fitness will be compromised. In my experience, I my recovery can be cut in half with quality sleep and consuming collagen, with such I can recover in under three days. Meaning, I can do a leg day every three days, or an arm day every 3 day. So if my split is one day legs, next day arms, and then a day spent on core, I can then do legs again the next day. Step four, now you are armed to start your cut. If you have the support you need, you've build some muscle, learned to eat even when you don't want to, learned the value of sleep, now you are ready to do battle with the fat...but are you ready to fight your metabolism? Time to get serious with your doctor and any other support you have. You may need help suppressing your appetite. Sticking to your split may be fine, but you'll still need to eat protein and remain in a calorie deficit. Now, muster the willpower to endure such a journey, you can do it.

  • @APFC95

Agree being miserable and extremes won't help your journey BUT you should welcome a little bit of discomfort and be open to change.
Example, if you like bread, eating absolutely zero bread will make you miserable but maybe see how you feel if you eat a bit less bread. I experienced this with bread specifically, I was eating way too much and yes it made me feel good while I was eating it but actually made me feel not so good after and was taking up calorie space for other healthy foods that i also like and that add variety to my diet, and I only figured out that I was better for me to eat a bit less bread by trying it.
