Dear Admin, I think this is the same lecture I first heard a few years back. Sheikh Hamza gave this lecture at the Imam AlGhazali Lecture at Elmshurst College. Since then I could not find the entire lecture on UA-cam anymore. If this is the same lecture, would it be possible to download it in its entirety? Much obliged.
Alhamdulillah I was at that Lecture at Elmhurst College. My husband and I were invited by Professor Inamul Haq.
Allah does as he pleases, and he is the best of judges. Mankind is not equipped to comprehend all the judgments he makes, and he remains the most compassionate. Ibrahim AS tried to stop the Angels from destroying the town of Lot, AS, presumably because he thought it was unnecessarily harsh. He then gave up when the Angels asked him to stop. Why? Because he trusted Allah. He didnt start innovating a mystical secret knowledge tradition to make sense of things he didn't understand. Excessive curiosity and a desire to make sense of every little thing can lead you to your destruction just as fast as lust and greed. Be mindful of what is (namely Quran and sunna) and is not Islam
Could you reference this, didnt know Ibrahim AS tried to stop people of Lut AS being destroyed cuz of sodomy
@@Foralluhaterz And when the fright had left Abraham and the good tidings had reached him, he began to argue with Us concerning the people of Lot. Indeed, Abraham was forbearing, tender-hearted, and [frequently] returning [to Allah ]. [The angels said], "O Abraham, give up this [plea]. Indeed, the command of your Lord has come, and indeed, there will reach them a punishment that cannot be repelled." Qur'an 11:74-76

Allah gave humans the ability to name things. You are truthful when you say excessive curiosity and desire to make sense of every little thing can be destructive. And you are truthful in all your statements above. Keep in mind though brother that all of our modern sciences try to explain things Allah has created but that doesn’t make them haram in there nature. It turns in to shirk when you attribute those qualities to creation instead of Creator. Everything is from Allah. Some people don’t need to read anything to have wisdom of the metaphysical world. For me all I need is the Quran to understand human nature and the nature of the self. When I read the other insights that humans have had though I often find them bringing me closer to my faith and the Quran.
Like listening to this Sheikh always makes me more hungry for knowledge and increased my desire to do good vs wasting my time on petty things. So how is that a bad thing? Isn’t that a gift from Allah?
Where to find the entire vid of this lecture?
Where is the full video?
can someone find me a hadith about "the emptiying of the self"...I cant find it in any book of hadith, I'm a little confused
I agree......you're confused.
That's because it (sufism) is not our religion, its repackaged gnosticism/satanism meant to serve as a bridge to the Dajjal.
@Yusuf patel why say that , what's the point ? the man asked a question ...you need to work on yourself bro
He didn't say it's a hadith. He said it's an Egyptian saying which nowadays means 'watch out' but originally meant 'empty yourself'. Sh Hamza then elaborates further by relating this Egyptian statement to Christian and Islamic teachings which echo the same meaning. Again, he did not say it's a hadith. Take care.

To say that there is a battle between Ibn taymiyahs and qazaalis "views of Islam" is wrong. Sheekh al Islam Ibn taymiyah and many other scholars did a great job of correcting the many and grave errors that Greek philosophical thinking introduced to Islam. Whereas imam al qazaali and the ashari madhab try to reconcile between the two in some areas.
The difference is that one side is insisting on what the massenger of Allah left for his ummah while others see the need to interpret what he saw left us in order to reconcile it with philosophical traditions
And for the sake of clarity sheekh Hamza yusuf and his sheekh are both followers of the ashari philosophical madhab.
For those of you who don't know what the ashari tradition is look it up thoroughly. By the way the massenger of Allah and his companions didn't need anything other than the quran and sunnah.
I am writing this so that we all understand why Hamza yusuf is saying what he is saying.
Its actually the other way around. İbn Taymiyyah was the one who was corrected by Ulema that He was imprisoned by ijma of scholars and İbn Taymiyyah is the only person who was imprisoned like this in the history of islam. No scholars supported his wrong views except his students. SO you shouldnt tamper history
@@islamnnuru6920
So ibn taymiyah was Wrong because he was imprisoned?
And ijmaa imprisoned him?
Do you actually know why he was imprisoned and who imprisoned him brother?
@@idbacfiidal6421 I know but it seems you are taught wrongly by his fanatic followers. Specific reason is İbn Taymiyyah practiced tajsim so attributing Allah a body and limbs which was the result of interpreting mutashibat as literal meanings and some other philosophical beliefs which were taken from ancient Greek like believing that the matter is eternal, materialistic point of view etc..
@@islamnnuru6920 Brother, honestly did you ever read 1 book among the books of ibn taymiyah from cover to cover with the intention of understanding what ibn taymiyah actually believed?
Or do you like so many just repeat what others say about ibn taymiyah?
