I am a musician, but not a percussionist. I volunteered to play cymbals in a parade once. Practically tore my poor arms off. Much harder than it looks. Mad props for this guy.
Also a cymbal player in a college marching band. Arms constantly hurt from it, and playing them is more of a physical battle than it is musically intensive
Dude is swole! People don't realize how heavy cymbals are or that they are incredibly un-aerodynamic, so to hit them with the accuracy and speed for this piece is amazingly difficult. Well done, sir.
@@austinhernandez2716They're actually made of bronze, and yes, they are heavy. I have played in multiple marches where I had to play just as fast as the person in the video, and it is horrible because they are very heavy (especially the expensive ones my school has) and are the opposite of aerodynamic.
@@ifyouseekay594 I played oboe in middle school and had to play something else for football games. I did cymbals just cause it was easy, and I hated how tired my arms were afterward. My hair also always flew back when the cymbals crashed from the air moving.
My youth orchestra played this for our spring concert last week!! It was amazing, super fun and felt very accomplished once it was over! Super exhausting though.
I played this many years ago when I was in a youth symphony. Our percussionist was a hulking muscled wrestler who was exhausted after one rehearsal where we worked on this section.
as a percussionist this is a perfect example of why percussion in not nearly as simple as it looks and you can actually injure yourself when playing auxillary
Percussionist here🤠 Crash cymbals of any size ARE HEAVY. Even the little 16" crash's. Those sucker's will put your biceps and grip to work let alone the fact that you may or may not be playing this piece..
I remember whenever I was in high school I did a lot of competitive Orchestra groups, and we could not escape this song. We played it every single time for every single round. District regional and state played this damn song.
It sounds like a race in the final lap towards the finish line!❤❤❤❤. Fantastic conclusion to this outstanding Tchaikovsky’s 4th symphony! I hope to once again hear the Tchaikovsky’s Piano concerto # 1 with its commanding presence.
I played this cymbal part on its own for an audition in high school, not knowing what it was from, so I always wondered what song could possible require this much cymbal lol
Played crash cymbals in Drum & Bugle at Lackland AF Base. Yeah they're heavy! I could smoke and polish my shoes. I went straight to the USAF Academy Band to play oboe after my audition. I'm still an oboist.
Complimenti!! Le persone che non hanno una minima cultura musicale purtroppo capiscono poco l'impegno e la dedizione che ci sono dietro ogni esecuzione. Peccato per loro. E complimenti invece per i musicisti!
If you hate someone, make him the cymbalist in Tchaikovsky's No. 4.
- Some guy on the internet 2023
😂😂I don't remember saying that 👀
@@justsomeguy6060 The legend is finally here🤣
subbed because why not
@@durian2525 Hehe, appreciate it homie ❤️.
Most tchaikovsky pieces tbh
Nah, if you love them. Ain't nothing worse than being a percussionist and having to rest the whole piece! We wanna hit stuff!
I am a musician, but not a percussionist. I volunteered to play cymbals in a parade once. Practically tore my poor arms off. Much harder than it looks. Mad props for this guy.
I played cymbals in middle school.
Hate the 2-hour marching parades.
Yeah, they are very heavy. You can't imagine how heavy they are when you have to hold them for a long time.
Im a cymbal player in marching band and the cymbal choreography and flips hurt so bad but once you get used to it, its alright
@@Carlosant they do many musical things but not percussion
Also a cymbal player in a college marching band. Arms constantly hurt from it, and playing them is more of a physical battle than it is musically intensive
All those instruments blasting the final chord and you still hear the solitary triangle over everything
High pitches will naturally pierce through the rest.
Just goes to show why the triangle is the most superior instrument 💪
Sound wave pitch and frequency
I like how once it ends, the timpani player just collapses from exhaustion
He's muting the tímpano lol
@@themangoninja8two birds, one stone 🤷🏻
naptime
Muting or tuning to the next piece
And trombons?????!!!😮😮😮😮

I mean for me, the technique is a little lazy, yet efficient.
I guess the big biceps come in handy 😅
Brass isn't that heavy. It's made from copper and zinc, two soft, low density metals.

Cymbals are so HEAVY! I could see his chest moving from the workout! Well done!
That's not his chest😂 the shirt is moved by the air when he closes the cymbals
Nah, forget the air! My soul thirsts for his pumping chest.

Nice to hear precisely what Tchaikovsky WROTE for once. No accelerating rush for a drink at the end, and a clear triangle.
As I percussionist,I have massive respect for that guy who was playing they crash cymbals

Much more difficult than it looks! Tremendous core strength and impeccable timing! Bravo ❤
ここまで叩いたら最後の一発まで叩きたい
自分が指揮者だったら楽譜になくてもいいから1発キメろ、って言っちゃいそう。

😅 I love that he loooks deeep into a symbol after he's finished. "well that was it, how wss it for you?".
The Cymbal told him to beat it 😂
Wouldn’t mind hearing that from him 😅
This is bringing me back to my high school marching band days. (I marched cymbals.)
I love Tchaikovsky so much!
I've played this excerpt in college many many times.
I would lose count doing that lol. Bravo!
Great Tchaikovsky.

People have no clue how fucking hard that is to do
This is one of my favorite symphonies.
I played this for honor band and I was on bass drum. Just as fun as the cymbal part!!!
I played marching cymbals and man u have to be in shape. This is next level badness
amazing
At the beginning, you can see his chest muscles flexing. This guy must be so good at huggin
Tchaikowski es lo maximo!!!
Sensacional
Madre mía!!!!!😅❤
Amazing! they are doing the masterpiece!
Ритмически очень точно и синкопы прозвучали лëгким уколом. Здорово!
We played rolling thunder as an encore in wind ensemble, and the cymbal part was more intense that any shoulder workout ive ever done

This Cymbal extract ✅💓🥵💀

Yall that bassoon player is getting it. You know he loves playing the wonderful wooden pipe
The power of music

Have somebody explain what "a rehearsal" is to you some time.

The singular tuba next to three trombones💀
isnt that like all orchestras
Yeah, tuba brotherhood
The self control in that second to last bar to not crescendo. 👏👏👏👏
I love Tchaikowski
The day my parents found out cymbals were more than a crash at the end, their minds were blown. I marched cymbals during indoor.
The hi hats of the orchestra 😊
His concentration and level of control! Also hot!
Excelente.
Это тоже виртуозная работа❤
For those who don’t know it. One of those cymbals has a weight between 5-8kg.
This is a workout 😅

the syncopation 😫🤯 my brain hurts by just listening to it

That syncopation be killing me😂
Tchaikovsky why didn’t you let the cymbal player play the last note😢
when i played this piece the conductor said it was because tchaikovsky wanted the pure note rather than a big clash, but i’m not tchaikovsky so idk
Me quedé sin aire🎉
Real music finally
imagine making a cymbalist play every single beat and off beat but then leave him out to dry on the FINAL CHORD 😂 Tchaikovsky was a menace
The cymbals are going crazy but do you guys hear the triangle holding it down?
this is difficult asf... the amount of strength & stamina you need to play it perfectly is insane. I can see why they put THAT guy in the cymbals lol

lol God bless you bro
At the end the fellow doing the cymbals seem to lay on top of the instrument after releasing all the tension.
This is what you get when you give the melody to the cymbal player. :)
I play cymbals for my song at school
Does one major in the cymbal? Or is it like a whole precision (?) instrument suite?
Love classical
My hands would not wanna play cymbals ever again 😂
For any non-musicians, this is WAY harder than it looks.
