    I am a musician, but not a percussionist. I volunteered to play cymbals in a parade once. Practically tore my poor arms off. Much harder than it looks. Mad props for this guy.

      Yeah, they are very heavy. You can't imagine how heavy they are when you have to hold them for a long time.

      Im a cymbal player in marching band and the cymbal choreography and flips hurt so bad but once you get used to it, its alright

      Also a cymbal player in a college marching band. Arms constantly hurt from it, and playing them is more of a physical battle than it is musically intensive

    Dude is swole! People don't realize how heavy cymbals are or that they are incredibly un-aerodynamic, so to hit them with the accuracy and speed for this piece is amazingly difficult. Well done, sir.

      Brass isn't that heavy. It's made from copper and zinc, two soft, low density metals.

      ​@@austinhernandez2716They're actually made of bronze, and yes, they are heavy. I have played in multiple marches where I had to play just as fast as the person in the video, and it is horrible because they are very heavy (especially the expensive ones my school has) and are the opposite of aerodynamic.

      @@ifyouseekay594 I played oboe in middle school and had to play something else for football games. I did cymbals just cause it was easy, and I hated how tired my arms were afterward. My hair also always flew back when the cymbals crashed from the air moving.

    My youth orchestra played this for our spring concert last week!! It was amazing, super fun and felt very accomplished once it was over! Super exhausting though.

    as a percussionist this is a perfect example of why percussion in not nearly as simple as it looks and you can actually injure yourself when playing auxillary

    Crash cymbals of any size ARE HEAVY. Even the little 16" crash's. Those sucker's will put your biceps and grip to work let alone the fact that you may or may not be playing this piece..

    I remember whenever I was in high school I did a lot of competitive Orchestra groups, and we could not escape this song. We played it every single time for every single round. District regional and state played this damn song.

    It sounds like a race in the final lap towards the finish line!❤❤❤❤. Fantastic conclusion to this outstanding Tchaikovsky’s 4th symphony! I hope to once again hear the Tchaikovsky’s Piano concerto # 1 with its commanding presence.

      when i played this piece the conductor said it was because tchaikovsky wanted the pure note rather than a big clash, but i’m not tchaikovsky so idk

    Played crash cymbals in Drum & Bugle at Lackland AF Base. Yeah they're heavy! I could smoke and polish my shoes. I went straight to the USAF Academy Band to play oboe after my audition. I'm still an oboist.
