This is how you promote an idea. Instead of calling people, "killers" or "murderer" and piss them off. Thank you so much for this video. It was informative.
Hurricane Tortilla omfg stop labeling all vegans. Yes, there are vegans like Ella but most of us are not like that. I’ve never ONCE told someone I was vegan randomly, only if they asked me. In fact I hate telling people because they make fun of me for it. Please be more nice to vegans. Although we don’t agree with eachothers lifestyles, leave the other alone.
She was honestly so sweet and calm when explaining stuff, not screaming about how if you eat chicken nuggets you are the Antichrist Edit: yo I posted this a year ago why are y’all still arguing. Just calm yo tits please
@Madisyn Stanley (981MadStan) yeahh so true, i would like to be vegan, because i love animals, and to protect the planet, also i don't think that if someome eat meats is wrong that's their decision, vegans did not born being vegans.
When I told my mom I was becoming a vegan, she asked me why I said because i do not want to be part of killing animals for food, also for my health. I recommended her the Netflix show, what the health, my mom, her husband, my brother and his wife are now vegans, I approached it with love, information and even a show in case I missed something, It has being one of the best decisions I've made so far.
@@jamiew4851 you will eventually, I'm rooting for you! always do it with information and zero accusations or hostility if they aren't receptive at first. You got this!! congrats on becoming vegetarian and eventually vegan!
OMG I Love You , i wish i can convert my family too into Vegans they eat meat and dairy like cave men and women ahahahhahahaha , living as a vegan among a meat eating family feels like being an outsider in an exclusive country club LoL and whenever i show them or advise them about veganism they feel like im threatening their entire existence because as the girl said in the video the traditional & cultural habits that are deeply embedded in the subconscious mind and passed over from generation to generation when the're apposed with something different the people embodying them feels as if you're indirectly disrespecting their fore fathers and ancestors and intelligence and basically calling them idiots and ignorants and that them and their grand parents and long ancestory bloodline were living in an inhumane unrighteous way , so even if they logically look at the facts of the physical and mental health benefits and the environmental benefits and the moral and ethical benefits and even if they logically understand it and actually want to convert , there mind can not let them because of the years and years of subconscious programming , they basically based their false identity on the believes that eating meat is normal and healthy and that not eating it is insanity , so they will feel that their false mind made identity is being threatened with annihilation ! such a sad reality they live in ! can i come live with your family ? AHAHAHAHAHAHHAA :D
I told my mom yesterday I was thinking about becoming a vegan , she started crying ... 😂😂 It just shows you how deep the misconceptions about food are ingrained in our personalities...
why not try going vegetarian or vegan once a week... you can do it secretly without telling them, or say you don't like the taste of meat lol- which is what i did...
When you don't really intend becomming vegan, you will fail. And, in my opinion, it is a waste of time convincing people to try it or talking about it with them. And it is absolutely impossible living secretely vegan, when you are still living with your parents. I mean... Come on.
@@SMarie5541 not only is this extremely false and offensive "information" to the vegan community, which i doubt you cared about offending anyway. But they dont only eat PLANTS there lots of things vegan you probably eat every other day! Sweet potatoes, yuca, rice, plantains, etc "malnourished" my ass you can tell that to the many vegan buildbuilders that exist and they would be confused as to why you actually think eating no meat will "turn your lips gray" stay ignorant or EDUCATE yourself and stop spreading harmful bullshit.
@@findingagain sorry, I'm trying to figure out why you say veganism is not inherently sustainable? Confused - I thought it was the the only thing that is.
The moment you talked about seeing the gains to veganism rather than losses made me want to cry. Thank you. I always didn’t want to start being vegan because I loved my cream cheese, my milk, and my eggs and chicken but focusing on the benefits is so much easier than obsessing over the loss. I would love to go vegan now, thank you sadia :)
I'm going slow. I'm not a big meat eater to begin with. I'm more vegetarian. I've never really enjoyed eating chicken or fish and I've never had a hamburger. I do like eggs. I cut way back on cheese.
Kvarks It can be really dangerous. A lot of people say, just go vegan, it’s easy!, when it’s not. You need to make sure you get all that you need like B12, iron, vitamins etc. It’s not about veganism in general, it’s about how you do it.
@@zarmin2137 you don't sound stupid. I had the same question before too, lol. I think the difference is that vegitarians don't eat meat, but vegans don't eat anything that comes from an animal.
Same here. I tried vegan for a few months before realizing I was losing all masculinity and if I was ever attacked, I would be an easy target. Vegans are weak ass pussies.
Great tips! I would also recommend staying within your comfort zone. If you are used to having tacos on Tuesday, pasta on Wednesdays, and pizzas on Fridays, for example, still do that, just find vegan versions of those dishes. You don't need to suddenly make complicated buddah bowls or buy expensive health food store ingredients. Stay within your comfort zone first and you might find the transition a little easier.
When I became vegan I wish I knew all this. I'm on my fourth year of veganism lifestyle but I learnt everything the hard way. Now I know I can have anything I want made vegan, and I'm not missing out on anything! It just took me a while.
Finally! Someone who doesn't bash others. As a vegan myself, it's nice to see someone else using a calmer and less aggressive and negative way of promoting this lifestyle. Thank you!
Earthy Amy yes I love that too, nothing like a aggressive vegan to get you on their side :/ (I don't get why they would ever think that tactic would work!)
Ryan Garret yeah that paranoid mentality is going to get people who eat meat every day of their life some who even make their living on it to change...... no wonder 90 percent of the USA isn't vegan if people like you are trying to convince them. Now pick up limes has a good approach, you...... not so much.
Something that I would recommend that is helping me transition to veganism is not making it a 100% transition immediately. Start slow. Replace cow’s milk with an alternative for a few weeks, then replace your yogurt for a bit, and so on. Going into anything too fast is going to make it hard to stick to. Also, do research. Watch a bunch of videos on veganism and vegan recipes and nutrition.
An alternative for cows milk is oat milk i started drinking it 1year ago and now i feel so much better. *baby cows (calfs) dont get the milk from their mothers because it goes to the supermarket so WE can drink it*
Totally agree especially if you're living with people that are not vegan so they have time to adapt to your new lifestyle and learn about it more so the transition is easier for everybody (I've been vegetarian for almost 6 months now and my grandparents are still afraid that I'm starving if I don't eat that piece of meat/fish so yeah 😂)
@Lee Ara Living with a family that is not vegetarian at all (although they don't eat meat in every meal) they didn't really understand what it meant and why I was doing that. Maybe some of them thought that it was just a phase. What I wanted to say was that you don't become 100% vegetarian overnight because it needs a lot of adaptation. Also I exaggerated when I said my grandparents were afraid that I would starve lol but they're still wondering what I'm going to eat if I don't eat meat which is very nice from them, but kind of annoying too because we don't need meat to have healthy meals
Yeah, because people like Freelee, DurianRider, and Vegan Gains are giving the Vegan Community a bad rep with their self-righteous attitude and drama involved around them
Sadia, I love your philosophy that you don’t have to be vegan to increase a plant-based diet. My family is Puerto Rican and my food history we fried food and eat lot of meat. I am 61, Want to change that. I want to improve my diet and include more vegetables and fruit. You make it look so easy. I would need to buy new ingredients but I don’t mind because it looks delicious and healthy of course. I have been trying to do this transitions for years but found it very overwhelming. Your intro touched my heart . You make it feasible. You gave me hope. You made me tear over this. I feel that I can do this. And I will work slowly at it. I slowly learn new receipts and incorporate more vegetables and have the ingredients at home. Thank you for your gift. Most humble, Wanda.
This is incredible Wanda!!🤗you’re bringing SO much light to this comment section!!! She does have a beautiful gentle and very accessible way of introducing you to this new lifestyle! I’ve been a vegetarian 🌱 for 19 years now and I’m wanting to go more vegan for the planet and animal support but also I’m noticing more of intolerance to dairy and cheese especially... it’s a struggle because I love the way it tastes.. but I know I want to lose some weight and feel better in my body😅and that is motivating me to make the shift finally! I agree with her though, we can make small shifts towards this lifestyle! I know many successful vegans who love it! My sister and her kids are 🌱 vegans and they’re SO healthy and loving it!! Just follow that big heart and you can’t go wrong! Much luck🥰
@Susage Boy kid, that's not funny. Being vegan can be perfectly healthy if you do it right. I know many vegans who are tall, athletic, smart, anddddddddd (drum role) Healthy! So I have real life proof 😊. If you don't think it's healthy, then I am perfectly fine with that. Just don't treat other people's decisions like a joke.
@Susage Boy the lifestyle of others are not a joke. I'm becoming vegan because I want to protect the environment in many ways. If you don't want to be vegan, then that is cool with me :) Meat is good for you, but supplements aren't that bad. Life does not revolve around meat, so in my opinion I don't see what is so wrong in eating some supplements. Being vegan reduces your carbon footprint, so I'm all in!
@@booby_pin I have the knowledge of reading thousands of testimonials from former vegans and hundreds of peer reviewed articles on medicine and nutrition.
Trust me, veganism might feel good at first because you cut out all the processed trash, but since vegan diets are devoid in health animal fats, b vitamins and other macronutrients, after a couple years once your stores are used up, your health will deteriorate. Trust me, include plenty of beef, organs and healthy dairy and eggs in your diet if you wanna thrive with good health.
I don't see myself ever adopting a fully vegan lifestyle, but I've been wanting to switch to a whole foods, plant-heavy diet. I'm getting rid of dairy and processed meats now (happy new year!), and I'm excited to slowly transition into a plant dominant diet. This video has been helpful.
It's refreshing and inspiring to see people from this lifestyle accepting and appreciating those of us who are making the changes we can and trying our best instead of pressuring us into "perfection."
Oh me too! I'm dreaming about mostly eating plantbased foods, but having a few barbaques in the summers with my favourite chunks of meat with vegetables and wine kind of thing. And I just love fish and shrimps so I need to get to eat them on special occasions. But those weekly chicken and pizza and whatever that I eat because I just have to eat something I can change. It's a thing though, that vegetarian foods seem to have more flavour than the general Finnish diet. :D At least sweeter. There's some getting used to it. Yesterday I ate rice with bean sauce, vegan except for honey, didn't want to eat it again today, so I grabbed a tuna fish pizza from the freezer to at least eat something... Maybe I can try a new vegetarian or vegan recipe next week. I first thought that one vegetarian meal a week wasn't really trying, but it looks like it's just enough of effort for me.. :"D Need to start small.
In all honesty though, you can’t eat fish and call yourself a vegetarian. You can call yourself a pescatarian, but you need to be honest with yourself. It doesn’t mean you’re bad person it just means you’re being honest with yourself and others.
I'm a vegan for 3 months now n I was vegetarian 5 months before and I'm glad I did this even I'm struggling in Muslim world full of meat n diary products every where but I'm going for it 💪😊💚🌱🌻💙
i live in france and everyone loves meat!! but i really need to try at least becoming a vegetarian. i live with my parents bc i’m 16 so i think i should wait until i’m old enough to live away from my parents who are really good cooks 😂 but if i actually take the initiative and cook for them i could do it but i’m lazy...
Why I want to go vegan is for my family. Everyone in my family are obese and so was I until I decided to lose weight. I went from 190 in April 2017 to 157 June 2018 with some off and on dieting/exercise. I feel stuck so been searching up how to lose more weight the right ways and think going vegan is perfect for what I'm looking for in trying to have a healthy lifestyle. Hopefully my family seeing this will want to make them not go vegan but think about their health and probably change the way they eat. Especially my sisters I grew up taking care of them and being the oldest I always feel like I'm the one they need to look up to. I love them with all my heart and want what's best for them both. That's why I want to change my lifestyle.
Last night I was called a hypocrite by a vegan community I joined. Been relapsing a bit because of my immune system and Im still learning the ropes of it all. Thank you, Sadia, for being THAT vegan we all need!
It is hard to suddenly just drop everything and turn vegan. It helps to do it slowly. I did it my self and i felt amazing. It was hard talking to online groups because they say stop everything with meat and dairy
I also joined a group in facebook and the expectation of them being kind esp to those who are just started in transitioning, they use harsh and discriminating words. I left the group and good thing we have people like this channel making veganism easier to understand and not filled with hate.
I am 28 years old and I have been a vegetarian since 15. I am looking into a fully plant based diet for anti inflammatory reasons and many other reasons like better skin and gut flora. This has been super helpful! Thank you!
I'm not a vegan nor vegetarian, but since I combined a little bit plant-based diet in my daily routine, my body feels so good like it is thanking me. Thank you Sadia for inspiring me.
Good on you. If i might make a suggestion, watch DOMINION on youtube and i think you will eat even more plant based and get even healthier :) my taste buds totally changed since i finally stopped treating my body like a morgue and have way more energy
Finally, I found a channel of a normal vegan and not some weirdo lol This channel is soothing. I am still eating meat but I need plant-based meals to balance my diet
Laura Beth I just showed this video to my hubby and said the same thing. I love Sadia's videos because of how calm she is and how clean her videos are.
I'm not vegan. Yet. I'm a bit too young to control all of my food yet, but when I eat out I prefer to choose vegetarian/vegan options, and reduce my meat intake when I have control. I'm learning to cook, and have realized that if I never learn how to cook meat, in the future, I just won't eat it!
i would love to try being vegan as meat has never been very appetizing to me anyways. but i'm in the same situation as you are, i'm too young and i'm from the south so my family loves meat.
If you learn how to cook for yourself, there is no suck thing as too young. I became vegan at the age of 14 in a house filled with people who eat meat in every meal
Loved "don't be a hero". I tried going vegan and healthy at the same time and it was such a shock. I felt a lot of pressure to get things perfect right away. But then I cut myself a break and decided going vegan was a big enough change first.
I became a junk food vegan when I transitioned and now I'm a health freak vegan! Personally I think this was the best way for me because to begin with I was at a loss of what to eat (I didn't cook much before being a vegan) and it was great just finding something that was vegan in the shops even if it was a packet of biscuits! You soon get bored of all that junk food. It all changed for me once I started cooking recipes from youtube and The Minimalist baker website. You can actually make healthy brownies and cakes, who'd of thought it!
Yeah. I am a 68 year old vegan with a hubby I just brought on board I was a vegetarian for five years on a date from children Well low and behold shocked them and took it a step further! So many people are bewildered. Lolol
this is by far THE MOST encouraging, open minded plant based lifestyle video or discussion I have seen. Thank you! there needs to be more people that can communicate the way you did here in this video. Genuine, well spoken and thorough.
“Just turn it into a dance and keep smiling.” I loved that phrase, I’ve been feeling a little confused lately with this veganism journey and listening to you has been encouraging
Verry good! Every step you take is something and thats a good thing :) I was a meat eater before, got health problems so i went vegetarian. While being vegetarian i started looking into veganism and after a while i made the change!
I've been on a vegan diet for about 3 weeks now and my blood pressure has dropped to what it was when I was in my twenties, I'm now 51, the other thing I noticed is age relate wrinkles have disappeared and the elasticity in my skin is going back to what it was when I was younger. I'm truly blown away by this!

I thank you for stepping out on a limb to provide a wealth of knowledge about this kinda scary step into the almost unknown. Thank you!
i bet you used to eat a lot of plants already. You used to be closer to veganism than to meat diet. Try primal, paleo diet. Veganism will make you just sicker

Happy to say that I'm an indian and our daily meal already contains everything you mentioned. 😋🇮🇳 most of us are Vegan since our birth.❤️ Superb video 🙏🏻
Hi there, I would encourage to adopt (even if it means making small changes here and there) a well-planned, organic, unrefined and untempered with vegan diet (consuming raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system. If disagreeing on this matter, please take some steamed carrots, plant them and see if they will grow; if not, it is because they are 'dead' plant food that cannot benefit one's 'living' cells) consisting of organic fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains as it is the best diet to provide mankind with ultimate health and longevity. I do not even see a reason to use pharmaceutical supplements e.g Vitamin D is obtainable from organic chestnut mushrooms (UV exposed) and sun-dried mushrooms with the exception of the body's ability to make it (and store it for future use) when exposed to the sun; Iron from organic beets; Zinc from organic cashew nuts; potassium and magnesium from organic bananas; Omega 3 Fatty Acids (beneficial for the brain) from organic walnuts and pecans (looks like the brain and targets it). Please avoid factory produced meat alternatives whose chief ingredient can be 'soy' and may contain preservatives as well as additives (e.g Vinegar, a corrosive agent). Food toxicity and nutrient deficiency (e.g white bread, white rice and white sugar) are a deadly combination as one is hindering the body's building materials needed to action healing whilst at the same time taxing the system with more toxic stuff, thus bringing about disease and possibly even an early death. Best wishes 💙💙💙
I've had to become vegan but because I have Kidney disease and Ayurveda medicine I take from India. However my food I'm allowed has no spice or very limited and it's horrible experience right now.
I think more than the content, what I really loved hearing was the encouraging, non-judgemental approach here, and of course her lovely energy. Engaging consciously with what we resonate with at our own pace, while respecting others' paths, is definitely something I aspire to do more of - a practice of unconditional acceptance/love both for ourselves and others - a way of peace. Beautiful video, thank you xx ;)
I’ve been a vegetarian for a little over two months and I’m a few months I want to begin to transition into veganism and your channel helps me so much. Thank you for being so positive and amazing!💛
I’m not planning on going vegan, but I’m incorporating more and more plant based meals into my diet (avocado, tofu, squash based) and it is crazy how much more energy I have and how much better I sleep! I just found your channel and am excited to incorporate some of your recipes into my life! Thank you!
My mom told me, she had a conversation with a 60+ year old vegan woman. She doesn't look like 60 years old. She's very healthy. She doesn't need glasses.
@@takeallquintillion yes, some people are an exception. Some people are blessed and can eat what they want without adverse effects to their health. The China Study and many others that have succeeded that study show the proof in the pudding 😀
i just love this "no presure" baby step attitide of yours. I think that giving your body time to ajust to a new lifestyle shows it the love and support it needs to heal and stay healthy. I'm not a vegan, yet I try to incorporate more and more plant based food in my diet, because I think my body really benefits from it. And as a non-vegan I still find your chanel so inspirational and helpful and I don't get the feeling of being judged for not wanting to become a vegan overnight

@@fr3etrial314 Maybe look into seeing a gastroenterologist? Although for most people, if you haven't been eating fiber much and then you go vegan and eat a lot of foods with fiber, it can indeed cause diarrhea. It's best to go low and slow when building up the amount of fiber you eat. It's a good idea to start with using the meat substitutes, and then building from there. Add beans in a bit at a time. Like a half cup a day. If that's too much, do even less. I've heard of someone needing to start with 1 tbsp. Once you find a level you can handle, slowly build up from there. Your body will adjust
you should definitely do a “what i eat in a day” video, i would really love to see how much you eat in a day because i have a hard time balancing my food. im a vegetarian transitioning into veganism. i love how encouraging and lovely you are. thank you so much 😊
I felt so calm and relaxed during this video and it made me feel like I could go at my own pace instead of having to become a vegan overnight. I was vegetarian for a few months a few years ago, but because of where I lived (and being a minor with no real control over what I ate) I was forced back into eating meat. Thank you for this.
I eat a vegetarian diet in my daily life, but the hardest part is definitely when visiting family or other people. My dad especially has no understanding of what food is if it's not based on meat. Personlly i will not refuse any food that i am served when visiting others, but it really is a hard thing to balance.
Carina I generally refer to myself as a vegan but I can totally resonate with this! when I visit events, I just eat the most plant based things available where I am. it still makes a good effect on our health and the environment without ostracizing ourselves from friends and family.
I want to be vegan so badly. We live out in the middle of nowhere and broke. Since we can only afford $3 junk foods and canned foods, I have nothing to bring to school. School lunches aren't vegetarian even and I can only eat a banana or whatever fruit there is. Starving and I eat the $3 box of honey buns or brownies that have animal fat, honey, milk, eggs and god knows what. I feel guilt but I'm so hungry. What do I do?
Hey! I have a few suggestions for you - I am the queen of living inexpensively! If you want to eat at school, perhaps only ask for the starch and veggies and fruit. Buy cheap foods in bulk like: rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, butternut, oats, cereal, pasta, bread, dried beans and other grains. Dried beans/ grains are so much cheaper just soak overnight and cook a huge batch. Buy seasonal veggies/ veggies on offer/ frozen vegetables and combine different veggies, starch/grains/rice and beans/lentils/pulses to make *'budah bowls'*. Or make homemade *potato/sweet potato chips* OR simply *bread* with peanut butter and syrup/avo/humus OR *pasta* with sauce and toppings of choice. You can also make your own vegan *patties* by combining lentils/beans, bread/potatoes, veggies/mushrooms with onion and garlic and enjoying it on a hamburger roll. Make your own *brownies* by combining sweet potato, sugar, cacao power, baking soda and flour and bake in the oven :P Mealprep, mealprep, mealprep! If you don't have healthy food on hand you'll spend money on fatty junk food that doesn't serve you or the animals well. You can still eat everything you love, just made with plants! :)
Oit Dor if you don't have access to lots of fresh food and are on a tight budget, you still have vegan options. I grew up taking a peanut butter and banana sandwich and a granola bar and an apple everyday for lunch. (I wasn't vegan then, but accidentally had vegan lunches) it was a super cheap lunch and you could probably find the ingredients anywhere. A bag of pasta and a jar of sauce is also pretty cheap. Oatmeal is my favourite breakfast. Add a can of beans to your supper. Pick up a multivitamin. If you want to be vegan, just do what you can!
Me too, I just suddenly became interested in veganism and decided to become a vegan and it wasn't hard at all. I wish more people would give veganism a chance
Me too. I watched Forks Over Knives and that was it. Three and a half years now, never looked back. My mother died from strokes due to obesity, eating the wrong foods which led to her getting type 2 diabetes, I certainly didn't want to go the same way!
Again, blessing us with your light. This topic is really close to my heart, and I know for sure it will help others join us in this journey to a conscious lifestyle. Thank you, flower.
I've grown up eating a heavy southern diet, but I've always loved vegetables and trying new things. I've been on a health and weight loss journey for the past few months and I've lost 25 lbs. I have always been so interested in veganism and I've watched countless vegan videos on YT, but this one is by far the most realistic and encouraging video I've seen. Thank you for this uplifting video!
People here are all optimistic and sending positive vibes all around...☺️ appreciate your hardwork for educating us to the basics of life. Thank you Sadia..sending love from Dubai.
3rd day becoming vegan since I watched Sadia's videos few years ago. Everyone has their own time and I think, this is it, now is my time. Wish me all the best :)
not a vegan and don't plan on becoming one BUT your videos, ideas and recipes are super inspiring and great for ANYONE who wants to live a healthy lifestyle! thank you so much for excellent, brilliant, magical content!!!
I suggest watching Gamechangers on Netflix! It's a great, non-judgmental portrayal of how plant-based diets affect health, mood, and athletic ability. Such a good watch even if you never go vegan :)
You might also consider watching DOMINION on youtube. I never considered going vegan until I saw what animal agriculture really consisted of. Health was a total bonus :) I have more energy now than I did when I was decades younger. When you stop thinking about just yourself, ironically it becomes easy to do the best for yourself.
I am 12 and I’d like to become vegan. I have heard of younger kids like me becoming vegetarians but never becoming vegan. Do you have any tips for me? Thanks!
You are such a sweatheart! I would suggest you to keep educating yourself, watch documentaries like Game Changers and Earthlings. Maybe start talking to your parents about becoming vegetarian first. However, im sure you will be vegan one day but dont rush it because not all parents are able to understand at first. Like mine. I am 20 and ive been vegan for 1 year now. If you'd like to speak more about it, I have time to answer to your questions. Much love 🌷
You need to take a B12 supplement. Make sure to eat whole carbs, like Whole Wheat bread, whole wheat pasta, even some starches like potato's and sweet potatos. You need calories to sustain your growth. Eat both cooked and raw vegetables. Do NOT go fully raw. Carrots and tomato's have different nutrients when cooked and easier to digest. Get green leafy vegetables! Cooked and raw. And Please!!! You need fat! Being so young I would not shy away from eating Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Fats such as Olives, avocados, peanuts, cashews, almonds, macadamia nuts, and Brazil nuts. And of course Natural sources of sugar and vitamin c. Oranges, apples, bananas, grapes. You want those antioxidants like berries. Raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, black berries. Get a good amount. And the one of the hardest is getting omega 3s. ALA Omega is found in plant sources like ground flax or chia or walnuts. However being young you want to also get DHA and EPA Omegas. I honestly would ask you parents if you could get a Vegan Algae Supplement with both! They can be expensive, but you want to grow and have strong heart, bone, and brain health. It is very important to supplement especially if you are growing. I hope this helps. I am not a dietician or nutritionist, however I started my journey a few years ago and have watched and listen to many dieticians and nutritionist. So this is what I have learned. Just make sure you are getting your calories! At least! 2000. You are growing and need the calories, fat, carbs and minerals.
Oh and one more thing I forgot, Protein! Tofu, soy milk, tempeh, saitan, almonds, peanuts,(nuts in general honestly), quinoa, lentils, Beans! Black, white, pinto, kidneys just beans!, oddly peas have a lot of protein, many vegetables have protein, just not in large amounts. eat a variety!
I went plant based just to lose 20 lbs, then with some research and education it morphed into a clear 3 pronged approach based on : 1 - nutritional and disease fighting benefits. 2 - sustainability of our home planet, and 3 - the ethical relationship with our animal brothers and sisters. Best decision I've ever made, and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. It would be wonderful if this kind of content could make its way into our school systems.
im a vegetarian and aspiring vegan, and i have "tripped" and goven into cravings a few times, its gets annoying when people point this out even though i am trying hard not to, its hard to handle the critisms of friends and family but i know why im doing this. i love you videos, its a dide of vegan people dont really see, you seriously inspire me. thank you for the encouragment!💕 i am actually going to college to be a dietican hopfully specialising in plantbased nutrition 💕😊
Ella Phant Not to mention how animal agriculture is by far the #1 cause of DESTRUCTION to this planet, global warming, droughts, rain forest destruction... ANIMAL AGRICULTURE has caused 70% of wildlife to go EXTINCT and is NOT sustainable. Shame on those who continue to want to hear about their bad habits so they can continue on with their selfish ways whilst causing immense pain and suffering without a care of the CONSEQUENCES!!!!
Ella Phant What is more likely to change someone? Would you rather be told your an awful person and that you are a lesser human because you eat meat or to be told what benefits there are to veganism not only in the body but on the earth and animals. I do eat mostly plant based but my uncle owns a ranch. There for he owns beef cattle. (cows fed to be butchered) But we only butcher when we need meat. And the animals aren't tourchered like everyone says. If you buy local meat chances are the animal had a pretty good life. Not only are his cattle free to wonder and endless number of acres they're also given treat foods and "toys". Not all ways meat is produced is bad. Just saying. Oh and honestly its a good thing when ranchers take the calf away from mom. Dairy cows are notoriously awful mothers. Many times if the calf isn't taken off the mother it will die. I've seen many many many cases where the mother will give birth and leave the baby in the middle of the field to die. Sorry if this triggers you but its the truth.
Amanda Westman theirs no humane way to kill another being if it doesn’t want to be killed ☹️ I’m not sure about the cow stuff so I can’t comment on that but I’ve never heard a mother cow doing that I could be wrong. Of course you are not an awful person, just one that needs to find more connection with other living beings besides humans ❤️❤️ I couldn’t bare knowing my uncle did that to animals and knowing I could try to help change that, it’s kind of like the slaves in the past. Once you start thinking of it like that you might be more careful of what you eat/wear/use :)
Jazmin I've thought about it plenty and I know all kinds of ways to argue for both sides. I dont personally think it's right to kill other animals but its not something that is going to change. There will always be peoplw who eat meat. And I'm perfectly ok with what my uncle does. I know how well those cattle are treated. I may sound harsh and for that I apologize. I whole heartedly believe that sometimes the calf has a better chance being taken from its mother. I used to be very against it until I saw my uncle try to bring its calf back to its mother and I watched that mother cow kick the calf as hard as she could. Twice. She tried to kill it just because she didn't want it. And I know there is no humane way to kill another creature. But honestly then don't really feel a thing. I mean the cows don't even know what's happening. I'm not saying I agree with large scale butchering but it's not half as bad as organizations like Peta make it seem.
Fun Fact: B12 is actually decreasing in animal products as well because of the new ways we grow produce and how our agricultural system is now. Its even recommended for meat eaters to take B12 supplements now too.
This is the BEST video promoting veganism and most compassionate and helpful tips for transitioning into a plant-based lifestyle! VeganGains and Freelee take notes!
@Chandi Patah freelee is toxic in my opinion, i dont think she understands that everyone can different opinions and just because they have those opinions doesnt mean they are bad people.
like your advice about slip ups. i have been vegan for 2 years and slipped up with dairy a few times but never too hard on myself because its a long term commitment so there will be mistakes along the way. love your channel

I just love this video and how it made me feel, I've been trying to switch to a vegetarian diet the past few months, but I told some people and they were just so hard with me, so I stepped back and decided to take a rest on everything, but now with this video I feel way more confident about it, I'm taking slow baby steps, but I'll get there. Thank you so much for this. Greets from Peru :) !
I find that whenever I've made a major lifestyle change (going vegan, minimalist, low waste) it's better to do it without telling anyone and settle into your new situation before announcing it. By then, the change is already made and you've had time to think of what to say when those inevitable ignorant comments start. The only choice they'll have is to accept and respect your choice. If someone is confused about your decision, educate them and if they are unwilling to hear it, they don't really care about you.
As cliche as it is, slow and steady wins the race. I agree with Sandra G, i'm not going to tell my family and friends besides my husband since it will affect him more so than other family members until I get into the groove of it. Opinions, especially those of people close to us can deter us because they are usually doing it out of love so we feel the need to take their opinions into consideration a little more heavily.
Stephanie Just So true! Parents especially can see any major life change as a criticism of how they raised you. When I got into minimalism, my mom was sad at EVERY LITTLE THING I donated. Sometimes even reminding me that she bought it for me. Which is tough because I was a young adult and most of what I owned were things she bought me. Eventually she realized that if I treasured everything she gave me forever I would need several giant storage lockers to keep it all in. But man was that tough. I had to sneak around and stretch my decluttering over a couple of years.
I got to a point where I was only eating vegan/vegetarian at home and when I was alone, but then I would go out and someone would offer me chicken or something and I'd eat it. I realized I wasn't eating the chicken because I wanted to, or because it tasted good. I was eating it because I felt guilty, because I didn't want to feel strange or excluded. I decided that was a pretty crappy reason to put something in my body, and figured out how to communicate with my family and friends that my decision to be plant-based is something that makes me feel good and is not a judgment against anyone else and they've been pretty cool about it so far.
Thrilled to see your channel blossom😉 so quickly. I especially appreciate your no pressure intro. This vlog is exactly what those of us who are trying to change and live more consciously need! Thank you, Sadia.
I became a vegan overnight and never looked back, one month ago was on a keto diet for three years the only it thing it did for me was clogged up my arteries, now I might need a stent or worse bypass. I am now 100% vegan period! I am absolutely loving being vegan It is freeing The food is so delicious and nutritious. I eat nothing with the face and that sets me free to know I’m not hurting any being. I love all the options I have now! Love your channel thank you for your good recipes, In one month, I have lost 8 pounds without even trying Feeling healthier already
I literally cried when I saw your Pinterest account 😭😂 I’ve been having anxiety and in crisis I couldn’t eat at all. I’m slowly changing my lifestyle and making my mind understand how important and great eating can be. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I intend to learn a lot
I just realized i haven’t had meat in the longest time. I also have noticed that my body has been changing in positive ways, I can see my biceps, triceps, and abs becoming more visible and bold. This is great!!!!!
6:20 I went vegetarian a few months ago with little to no knowledge about nutrition, but still ate quite healthy. I went vegan like 2 days ago and my cravings totally stopped. Okay, I did have a cookies and waffles, but I wasn't hungry after which I usually am. Maybe it's just me adjusting to not eating even dairy and eggs, but it's still interesting.
Vegan Thinking well, calling someone judgemental, is being judgemental, but I don't think that was your or their intention. I think they just want to maybe look at healty lifestyles, but without having vegans trying to stuff it down their throats and try and make them do it, she likes the more "do it if you like, and if you dont, don't worry" kind of people.
Agreed! Her personality actually makes me want to try to be more plant based, whereas encountering a judgemental, preachy, and pious vegan makes me want to chomp on a bacon bouquet. But i love her, i think if more vegans had her personality they could change a lot of peoples minds about veganism.
Garland Thompson that's good she makes you want to try it more but it's a little superficial to ignore the message over how it's being delivered, especially when innocent beings are involved. 'I am considering not owning a slave but I get annoyed when someone tells me what I'm doing is wrong and it makes me want to own more.' seems weird right?
Well i would prefer people respect each other as people and not let their philosophies get in the way of how we treat others. Vegans sign onto an ideology -one which i actually agree with- but they condemn and attack others just like a religious person does with their ideologies and condemn others and use tactics like shame, guilt, and even threats claiming to have the moral high ground. I don't care what religion or ideology you fall into, no one likes having it shoved down their throats. Which is why i like Sadia, and her take or leave what you would like as you will approach.
Great content as always- also super helpful for anyone who doesn't love to cook or is a beginner in the kitchen: it can be overwhelming to learn a lot of new recipes off the bat, so focusing on just a few of your absolute favorite foods and figuring out a vegan version you LOVE can be more helpful than trying a bunch of new foods for the first time and thinking "I don't know if I like vegan food". For me it was tofu "eggs" which makes for delicious breakfast tacos and burritos. Also looking to cultures who have a vegetarian/vegan leaning ex- India, the Caribbean etc and ordering food from those restaurants can be a great way to figure out recipes and new flavors you like without overhauling your whole pantry all at once. Investing in the ingredients needed to try out those new dishes at home can be way gentler on your wallet and then you know what flavors you're aiming for when you try cooking it on your own for the first time.
Ohhh Sadia, where's the LOVE button. This is a great video, thank you for your beautiful advice and information. Highlight of my week when you add a new video. Much love xx
Stadia--Thank you so much for this video. My husband and I are trying to become more plant based and I've already incorporated so many things from your channel. ❤️
Thanks to each and everyone of you for willing to make the change! U guys make me so happy! Just ten yrs back I would have thought that something like this is impossible..
I just love how positive, encouraging and genuine you are. Mot pressuring anyone but presenting veganism so positively. I love listening to you and learning new things
One way to start is to start with one meal a week. Breakfast is easy: oatmeal with almond milk and some fruit, a cup of coffee. Easy peasy. Then increase to a whole day, aka meatless Monday. I started with breakfast. Then found a work Buddy to lunch at vegan restaurants, now and then. Now I bring a vegan lunch (aka meatless salad). Dinner still has meat, but my spouse is trying meatless Monday. Good luck! Remember it's a journey. Take your time and enjoy! 💜🌞🌵

This is so welcoming thank you, I’ve been vegetarian for a year and I’m thinking of going vegan. I’m an animal and earth lover at heart, and that’s why I changed my life. (Also, does anyone else now think any kind of meat smells and looks super nasty? Cause, ugh🤢)
Well, some meat do smell unbearable now, but I try not to be too showing with it. Since not everyone in my family is vegan, sometimes if I voice it out, it led to arguments and quarrels. You don't want that in your life. So, sometimes we need to rephrase how we express that some smell is a bit too unbearable for us. Obviously, "nasty" won't do any good.
There are so many comments here praising you and even though I think everything has been said, I want to thank you once more and praise you for your content and the helpful and realistic approach you show. Seriously, you are such an inspiration! Keep up the good work. Looking forward to seeing more of your awesome content.
Thank u, thanks to you I'm vegan and I've never been healthier. I started recently (3 weeks) but my life really changed because thanks to this diet I have no longer an eating disorder. You really saved me and I'll be forever grateful
Thats a misconception. In the beginning you will feel better because of cutting out all the crap foods that is the standard american diet, but veganism is devoid of really important vitamins and nutrients you can only get from animal foods (which are far more nutritionally superior anyway). After a couple of years, your fat stores that can only be obtained from animal foods will be depleted and your health will suffer greatly. Trust me, I've seen it happen to just about all the vegans I know. Make sure you include lots of healthy saturated fat, beef and beef organs if you can. The beef organs aren't necessary but they are REALLY high in LOTS of health nutrients. raw dairy is also amazing for your health too.
This was a great video and couldn't have come at a more perfect time for me. Trying to integrate a lot more plant based meals into my diet and I feel motivated after watching this. Also Pick up Limes is the best channel name I've ever heard. 10/10
4 years after my transition, I had a low point last year. I had some health issues due to anxiety and stress and my body (or my mind) asked for some fish and ham once in a while. I've been feeling kind of guilty ever since but your video made me remember my 'why'. No harm... And that includes myself. Thanks for the inspiration.
Mental health issues is actually very common on vegan diets as the diet is devoid of ALOT of important nutrients thats only really found in abundance in Animal foods. If you do animal based or carnivore, you will feel far better and you will be far healthier
I have the same mindset. I’m calling myself vegan adjacent, because if I’m out or something and I don’t have access to vegan food I know I’d use it as an excuse to not eat, so I eat vegetarian or pescatarian if I have to. I had an eating disorder for a decade so I have to be careful for now with my mindset
You've probably heard this many times before, but I really want to thank you for making me feel so comfortable and cared for just by watching your videos :)
Me and my family of four have been vegans for over 3 years now, but I watched this video because I love PUL's channel. I need to say that whatever Sadia says is SO true and applicable! I LOVE the fact she recommends the book "Becoming Vegan". Although I am not a dietician nor anyone pursuing a career in nutrition, I have this book and keep re-reading it. The book is packed with so many evidence-based explanations. So, whenever I talk to someone who is furiously against veganism and brings in reasons XYZ, I patiently hear them out and then refer to the book for the answer. For example, why do people experience bloating and gases when they try to eat more beans; why they feel hungry when eating more fruits and veggies. The book also helped me to relieve many of my worries, especially because I have children. I learnt, how diets differ for people of different age and gender.
Hi there, In addition, please consider adding Raw Organic Perfect Food Alkalizer & Detoxifier (Garden of life) to the organic diet too as i believe that will help with boosting one's health (GOD Willing). I hope that helps :) GOD Bless 💙💙💙

Thanks for a reason I won't go vegan Ella! :). Eating meat is what you are built for! (If you say you are frugtivores I swear...)

How it going?
Uhhh yeah I failed like two or one day later. I stopped because I wanted to get all my nutrition.
why not try going vegetarian or vegan once a week... you can do it secretly without telling them, or say you don't like the taste of meat lol- which is what i did...
you could do it subtly!
They don't have to know
When you don't really intend becomming vegan, you will fail. And, in my opinion, it is a waste of time convincing people to try it or talking about it with them. And it is absolutely impossible living secretely vegan, when you are still living with your parents. I mean... Come on.
This is the gold standard for veganism

It can be really dangerous.

:"D Need to start small.

i live in france and everyone loves meat!! but i really need to try at least becoming a vegetarian. i live with my parents bc i’m 16 so i think i should wait until i’m old enough to live away from my parents who are really good cooks 😂 but if i actually take the initiative and cook for them i could do it but i’m lazy...
Lilpotato I wish you all the best .I have started a vegan diet too.Im convinced that its the best ever diet.Have seen and heard enough evidences.
Wish you all the best.
God bless you, because of my health I'm starting to seriously think of going vegan too
Does veganism really help you stay slim ? Do u count calories
I want to lose weight for the same reason bc I’m obese and everyone in my family too
Last night I was called a hypocrite by a vegan community I joined.
I wouldn’t call it relapsing. Eating animal products isn’t a disease. Lol
I watched the documentary "Cowspiracy" on Netflix and I am absolutely convinced now that going vegan is the right choice.
Watch “What The Health,” it is 😧
not everything in the doc was factual but it’s still a good doc in general

Good on you. If i might make a suggestion, watch DOMINION on youtube and i think you will eat even more plant based and get even healthier :) my taste buds totally changed since i finally stopped treating my body like a morgue and have way more energy
Even just trying new plant based is great. 🌱✨
Bone decay sounds fun.
I haven't eaten vegetable for more than 2 years
Finally, I found a channel of a normal vegan and not some weirdo lol This channel is soothing. I am still eating meat but I need plant-based meals to balance my diet
So I just found your channel and I love your calm persona. You are a pleasure to watch. :)
Laura Beth Same! Just found her and I subscribed right after she said "I'm a vegan dietitian" 🙌🏼🌱
Laura Beth I just showed this video to my hubby and said the same thing. I love Sadia's videos because of how calm she is and how clean her videos are.
SHE IS INDEED...I AM PROUD TO BE A VEGAN. SINCE TURNING VEGAN NO MORE HEADACHES AND NO MORE DANGEROUS BLOOD PRESSURE
I like your name 😂
This is what I said! Love her channel.
Even before I was vegan would never buy meat when grocery shopping because I hated cooking it/wasn't good at cooking it lol
i would love to try being vegan as meat has never been very appetizing to me anyways. but i'm in the same situation as you are, i'm too young and i'm from the south so my family loves meat.
A really great step for the animals and yourself :) Keep it upppppppp!
If you learn how to cook for yourself, there is no suck thing as too young. I became vegan at the age of 14 in a house filled with people who eat meat in every meal
Skye Steiner yes I agree with you. But in some households it can be complicated. Not everyone is the same
Loved "don't be a hero".
I tried going vegan and healthy at the same time and it was such a shock. I felt a lot of pressure to get things perfect right away. But then I cut myself a break and decided going vegan was a big enough change first.
S R for me environmental and ethical concerns trump health! Everybody has their own priorities!
Yes! I love that site! I'm hoping that eventually my healthy choices will crowd out the unhealthy ones!
Personally I went in stages because that's what worked for me. If you're drawn to the idea of doing it cold turkey, go for it!
Yeah. I am a 68 year old vegan with a hubby I just brought on board
I was a vegetarian for five years on a date from children
Well low and behold shocked them and took it a step further!
So many people are bewildered. Lolol

Hi there,
I would encourage to adopt (even if it means making small changes here and there) a well-planned, organic, unrefined and untempered with vegan diet (consuming raw plant foods where possible so as not to denature or destroy the life-forces and enzymatic activities beneficial to the human system.
Best wishes
💙💙💙
I've had to become vegan but because I have Kidney disease and Ayurveda medicine I take from India. However my food I'm allowed has no spice or very limited and it's horrible experience right now.

I cant be vegan, I get diarrhea

Yes, family get togethers can get uncomfortable! It was definitely the hardest part of transitioning to vegan for me.
Make your own *brownies* by combining sweet potato, sugar, cacao power, baking soda and flour and bake in the oven :P
Mealprep, mealprep, mealprep!
When I went vegan I made it as a split second decision and never looked back, it was a bumpy start but I loved it anyway. 😄

Black, white, pinto, kidneys just beans!, oddly peas have a lot of protein, many vegetables have protein, just not in large amounts. eat a variety!
hi! i became pescetarian when i was 13,and from there i started decreasing the amount of fish, milk, eggs, etc gradually
I'm adapting more plant based meals to my diet for sure! love hearing you speak!
I agree, her voice is so calming and uplifting.

Vegetarian means you just don't eat meat and you still eat animal products just not meat
Wow she is the first vegan ive ever seen whos been not judgy of people who do eat meat. THIS is what a vegan should be like!
That's right! 👌

Thank you so much for this. Greets from Peru :) !
So proud of you! Keep doing what feels right for you :)

I eat nothing with the face and that sets me free to know I’m not hurting any being. I love all the options I have now! Love your channel thank you for your good recipes, In one month, I have lost 8 pounds without even trying Feeling healthier already
That's amazing! What a journey. How is the plant-based path treating you these days?
I literally cried when I saw your Pinterest account 😭😂 I’ve been having anxiety and in crisis I couldn’t eat at all. I’m slowly changing my lifestyle and making my mind understand how important and great eating can be. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! I intend to learn a lot
I just realized i haven’t had meat in the longest time.
I also have noticed that my body has been changing in positive ways, I can see my biceps, triceps, and abs becoming more visible and bold.
This is great!!!!!
I'm very happy for you 😊
AL. Bangtan thank you
@@yourfriendlyneighborhoodsp4733 you're very welcome you're doing great keep going 😊 have a nice day
AL. Bangtan you too.
Congrats
I liked your intro very much. I doubt I'll ever be a vegan but I want to learn new recipes and incorporate more plant based foods into my diet.
That's awesome! How's the plant-based path treating you?
This girl is pure light
I hate you.
@@apalsnerg you're lame
Wow, a non judgmental, non preachy vegan? What a breath of fresh air! Thank you for that. First vegan channel I can actually enjoy watching!
FabiJenneke that sounds a little judgemental :D
Which is why i like Sadia, and her take or leave what you would like as you will approach.
hey people in the comment section; if you haven’t already, i recommend watching “what the health” on netflix :)
Well that was something, good recommendation it opened my eyes on some stuff ^^ definitely wanna be vegan now 😂
Kaorizz X yes! me too, but it’s going to be really hard for me ooof
@@tayen same, good luck !
I'm literally watching What the Health right now!!
I heared there was law suits after this documentary tho
Investing in the ingredients needed to try out those new dishes at home can be way gentler on your wallet and then you know what flavors you're aiming for when you try cooking it on your own for the first time.
love this thank u sm
Ohhh Sadia, where's the LOVE button. This is a great video, thank you for your beautiful advice and information. Highlight of my week when you add a new video. Much love xx
Stadia--Thank you so much for this video. My husband and I are trying to become more plant based and I've already incorporated so many things from your channel. ❤️
So happy to read this, Ana :) Sending you both much love ❤
“If you trip, just turn it into a dance and keep smiling” *wow*
Susan Zurita thank you JaniceWilkans
That was the best
My bf and i are doing 5 days vegan 2 days meat tell we move out of his moms house
Suzi SaintJames thanks for sharing. JaniceWilkans
So it seems you are just looking to be plant based, right?
@@ryanwelsch9384 Me? I'm trying to lose weight and lower my cholesterol. I love eggs and seafood. Four-legged animals are fed grains,,, which trigger my autoimmune disease, so they are on my no eat list... among other things that increase inflammation, but that's another video. 💖🌞🌵😷
@@suzisaintjames,
Yes you. It sounds like you are just looking to adopt a plant based diet to improve your health. If you want to be the healthiest you can be I highly suggest this man whom has enabled thousands of people to reverse their health issues: ua-cam.com/video/o0VxiKLPjyk/v-deo.html
I am already a vegetarian and aspire to become a vegan in future for sure!
Please Watch “violated” by Animal rights activist Joey carbstrong to understand how maleficent the dairy and egg industry are the animals . UwU
Rinsing off the beans and legumes also help with the gaseous factor. :)
Yes indeed! Thanks for sharing this too :D
Pick Up Limes Yep. Watch another video of yours after this one and you mentioned the same thing. Cheers
Omg she's a nice vegan. I like her. 💘
мιѕѕ Drεαmςα†ςhεr "a nice vegan".... what?
??? ??? She isn’t pressuring us into becoming vegan, meaning she’s a “Nice Vegan”
There are a few of us out there. ;)
Like 99% of the rest lol
August NKK the social media crazies are the only ones people see. The people who shout people down are the only ones we hear.
Watch violated by animal rights activists Joey carbstrong. I think it will easily see you that veganism is part you should go. UwU
Yeah. don't even view it as "meat" anymore, just a dead body. I completely lose appetite
I'm on my 3rd week now. How is your journey going ?
Congratulations beating your waiting disorder!!! I pray you continue to love yourself and honor your body
I've never seen someone with as open-minded an approach as you, and it helps a lot. thanks.
Beautiful message from a beautiful person...just what I needed to hear 🌹
-the video starts.
-me: OMG how good her way of talking is . So peaceful and lovely .
Hi there,
In addition, please consider adding Raw Organic Perfect Food Alkalizer & Detoxifier (Garden of life) to the organic diet too as i believe that will help with boosting one's health (GOD Willing). I hope that helps :)
GOD Bless
