If Jim's death ends up being undone through time travel, it risks taking away a lot of the suspense and emotional weight of the show. The stakes feel meaningless if any major death can just be reversed.
Your comment about the monsters being dressed in 1950’s clothing made me realize something. I think you’re right that Tabitha and Jade killed all of the monsters then, only to be rebirthed by Tilly!! That’s why she was so excited to be back, that’s why she talked about having children and why she was so invested in Fatima. In her last scene in the kitchen before Fatima killed her, she was drinking tea from a tea set that was shown in the caves. She was down there chilling with her babies 😮😂
If you want to know the meaning in psychoanalysis, the Man in Yellow is the superego, the song isn't why he emerged, Tabitha remembering the truth is why he emerged, with knowledge comes a cost. What you are witnessing is the superego emerging to resolve the Oedipus complex (Jim).
Julie already changed the story by throwing the rope to Boyd. Due to the rope, Boyd got the worms, killed Smiley, Fatima got pregnant, Tilly got killed, Elgin lost an eye etc. None of that would have happened if Julie didn't throw the rope to Boyd.
@@Q-Dads It would mean that Julie is indestructible at that point of the story as long as she holds off time traveling back to her dad getting killed. But she doesn't know that she eventually has to, because it's part of the story that she does.🤯
I don’t think they would have pointed out Ethan actually saying the story walker cannot change the story, without it being true. Although Julie may be trying ti change the story, I hope she can’t change it, or at least not until the end of the show?
As of today, with only one watch under my belt I wasn’t thrilled with the episode but do have to say I’m again enjoying the stuff involving Julie and the bit of time travel which they are calling story walking. I do think that this is the big thing developing in From and that as they go through another season or two she(and perhaps Randall and Marielle) will all travel to different points and eventually figure out how to change the story and maybe things how the curse of From ends??? They figure out how to go all the way back and get the people to not make a deal and not sacrifice their children. Glad you guys are pointing out that Jade and Tabitha aren’t monsters so they couldn’t have made a deal!! i actually think they aren’t reincarnations of Miranda and Christopher but it’s even deeper (tomato/tamato) and they’re a reincarnation of the original duo to not make a deal with the devil or man in yellow??? Wish they would’ve told us what the entity (or man in yellow or whatever the people made the deal with) gets from this sacrifice of children ?? We know what the idiot people got!! lol immortality, maybe he’s some sort of Jin ?? Also? Now that we know Julie can story walk, maybe she can get Marielle and Kristie to see her hairdresser and get better haircuts !!!
🤣🤣 love the fact you mentioned Marielle's hair, it's been driving us mad since season 2!! You are right, Jade and Tabby are reincarnations of Christopher and Miranda, who in turn are reincarnations of the original people who made that sacrifice. But like you say, why? I think Story Walker Julie is going to make a big impression in the next season try to change the narrative but the Man in Yellow is also a Story Walker trying to stop her so he too can live forever. Slow season but interesting ending, glad they introduced the MIY, the show needed something extra to help retain us for the next season. Also, did you notice Elgin lost an eye, like the soldier and the other person Jade saw, maybe he is there reincarnation and the people we see are all reincarnations... Is Boyd the MIY?? (Reincarnated and not 'yet' evil)
You don't understand the story. Smiley came back because the monsters are immortal. If you kill them they will come back. It isn't an eye for an eye. It's the contract ( deal) the origins made for immortality. Jade and Tabitha are reincarnated from the originals who didn't want to sacrifice their child. They are the ones who sang and read to the children. They're reincarnated repeatedly until they can save the children. This story was told by BIW, Jade and Tabi, and Fatima.
You don't understand immorality! One, the story is an original idea so technically noone other than the writers understand it. Two, immortality doesn't mean rebirth. If they were truly immortal then smiley would not have died when Boyd slit his throat! He would have returned in the same body where what happened in this episode was a rebirth into a fresh new body. Also, we already know and have mentioned previously about the 'reincarnation' thing. We theorised about this ages ago.
I think the man in yellow is an entity, as well as Martin. Both were or seem trapped until release. Martins release, the transfer of his blood.. the man in yellow, the song playing. Martin is the entity of the bugs. I believe the man in yellow could be the entity of the birds. There was way too much about birds this season that points to it. With Jim dying this means no character will know about the man in yellow (at least till Julie story walks). So maybe the birds will start going insane in season 4
Yeah, I think now they have introduced the MIY, we won't see him for a while. Not quite sure about the birds but that's an interesting theory 🤔 I once thought the birds represented the people who died in the town
Ethen said she cant change the story she tried and failed she learned the hard way she could not change the story. Her throwing boyd the rope was part of the story she did not change anything doing that
It's one of those things where she believes she is changing the story yet everything she does is already part of the story. She is both revisiting old chapters whilst still advancing her part of the story.
Even on a season finale, there was too much filler and pointless, repetitive conversations. Same shit with Randall again, christy and merial's same conversation that went nowhere, the elgin torture scene went on and on and on and on when they could have just followed him there and saved time. I think if they were competent and weren't trying to milk it as much as possible, this was a 20 minute episode at max
I thought the earth abides show looked fantastic at first. The actual ad for it at the end turned me off. Going down the modern audience path unflrtunately.
Based on that sneak peek, I was a little intrigued knowing nothing about it. I (Ben) will be covering it or at least the first episode so will let you know if it's worth your time. Plus it's something to help kill the time until Severance drops!
How is Jade the reincarnation of Christopher?!! Victor actually knew him! Lol That makes zero sense. Jade is Victor's age. That means Jade was born BEFORE Christopher died. Lol
@Q-Dads right, Victor ALREADY existed before Christopher passed. He was about 10 or 11 when Christopher died and so did the rest of the town. Jade was already existing.
Yeah. Your point is? Victor knew Christopher when he was around 10ish. He is playing a character that is about 57 or so which means Jade can be in his early 40s or even late 40s for it to still be plausible
Did anyone else think that the “earth abides” sneak peak was a secret end credit scene for from 🤣I was so pissed to see it was a whole other show
Oh my good dude you’ve no idea 😂😂😂
🤣🤣
Same. I’m very intrigued tho
same
The whole time I was confused then when I saw the add for the show and that guy on the cover I was pissed 😂
If Jim's death ends up being undone through time travel, it risks taking away a lot of the suspense and emotional weight of the show. The stakes feel meaningless if any major death can just be reversed.
Depends how they do it, if it’s sufficiently earned it could work. IMHO. Definitely excited for the continuation.

But what if Julie throwing the rope was already part of the story?? She was always meant to throw it.
@@Q-Dads It would mean that Julie is indestructible at that point of the story as long as she holds off time traveling back to her dad getting killed. But she doesn't know that she eventually has to, because it's part of the story that she does.🤯

I think it will be one of those things that we only realise at the very end how much she actually changed or not
As of today, with only one watch under my belt I wasn’t thrilled with the episode but do have to say I’m again enjoying the stuff involving Julie and the bit of time travel which they are calling story walking. Where does the concept that the Man In Yellow was "trapped" come from. Did the show creators leak that?
That's just a presume based on timing. The man in yellow was only seen on screen when Tabby and Jade had their memories back after playing the music.
I think the man in yellow is an entity, as well as Martin. Both were or seem trapped until release. Martins release, the transfer of his blood.. the man in yellow, the song playing. If you look at the cave drawings, there are multiple ones that have depictions of the ritual sacrifice with a pair of figures off to the side.

What if Jim comes back as one of the night monsters... 😮

I agree that the first half was very 'samey-samey'. I just hope the makers see the feedback from the fans and make some changes in season 4 🤞🏻
do you think eloise drag boyd and sara tent went they out in the woods dragged them all the way to light house
What if it was Julie the Storywalker??
No, pretty sure it was the trees, you can see a shadow of a root in the scene through the tent.
Is that Eloise Acosta?
I thought the earth abides show looked fantastic at first. The actual ad for it at the end turned me off. Going down the modern audience path unflrtunately.
Yeah. I always wonder who the audience for those shows are. I don't know anyone who watches them
Based on that sneak peek, I was a little intrigued knowing nothing about it. I (Ben) will be covering it or at least the first episode so will let you know if it's worth your time.

That makes zero sense. Jade is Victor's age. That means Jade was born BEFORE Christopher died. Lol
It has always seemed to me that victor is older than Jade
If you think about the town, Victor was only a child when Christopher died so it is plausible that Jade could be a reincarnation.

Are you saying this is just a recap? If so i think your ears might be broken. 🤣
