I have incredible reverence for Penn too. He is a straight shooter so when he pays a compliment he means it.
I've watched countless podcasts in my life and there are only two that I have ever watched more than once, one is Jordan Peterson on Joe Rogan the very first time when he talks about his sickness and almost losing his wife and the second is this one with Jon and Shia labeouf. I have never seen such a piece of artistry and sheer raw intimacy in my entire life. It was extremely touching and eye-opening and was just a great piece of entertainment and education at the same time. Not just factual education but spiritual education as well. That one interview made me a "Real Ones" lifer immediately. John delivers something that Joe Rogan can't anymore, that's an intimacy and that genuine feeling that you get between Shia and John in that interview. Joe Rogan is still a great podcast Creator and he is and forever will be known for changing the face of entertainment and information and current events irrevocably but he has lost a lot of his intimacy and has unfortunately allowed people from outside to change his style and his rawness. It was inevitable and it's not really his fault, when you get that big there's not much you can do about it but that's another reason why I like watching Jon do his interviews, the intimacy is on a whole new level.

I lament that Sean Penn has been done with cinema for over a decade now. Many don’t seem to remember he used to be THE actor. More revered than even Daniel Day Lewis.
ehhh he was great but never thought of as better than DDL. Guy has like 3 oscars and should have more. Penn's favorite movies for me were the serioius ones though. When he was a kid "Bay Boys" and later on he stole every scene in "Mystic River." A lot of stinkers since then though.
