I'm proud of you! 5 years clean..I was lucky enough to get clean right when fentanyl was just starting to really hit the scene bad and it's way worse then the normal H and THAT was hard enough to get clean from. So Good in you for sticking with it and gaining your life back. ❤
I know right? Especially the one guy with his head cocked sideways and his mouth a little open. It definitely looked like they didnt care atall about what he was saying.
Watched all 2 1/2 hrs of it, they did the exact opposite, actually thanked him for using his platform, for telling his story. To much to express in just this one comment actually.
I cannot believe that one of the most beautiful and powerful testimonies I’ve ever heard came from a guy who actually goes by jelly roll. What an amazing man
As a nurse of 32 years who has been fighting this on the frontline, I commend him for speaking out and advocating for those at risk individuals. Keep working Jelly Roll!
Recently retired paramedic here... Thank you for your service! I cant even begin to imagine how much Narcan I have administered in my career. But I can count on fingers and toes the times I needed to give Fentanyl or Morphine. The drug companies created a problem that is equivalent to mass murder. The drug dealers have stepped in and are continuing this genocide.

I hope your son is able to get clean. I struggled for years, well over 15 years with addiction and have over 2.5 years clean now. He can do it when he's finally ready. It never worked for me when I tried getting clean for others.

Amazing video.. It’s crazy how we all go through so much traumas from this abusive drugs. Fentanyl addiction actually destroyed my life, i suffered severe depression and mental disorder, not until my partner recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment changed my life for better. I can proudly say i'm totally clean for 6 years and still counting. Always look to nature for solution to tough problems, Shrooms are phenomenal.
@@Nate-bn5kk Then you realize more people take him seriously than most people without those tattoos. I could say the cliche "you can't judge a book" line, but it's better to suggest you progress. People take different walks of life, and end up with their own experiences. Sometimes those that we judge, have experienced more, and learned more from it.
Fentanyl is coming through the open border people. We had a president that wanted a secure border. For some reason you guys voted him out. If you agree with Jelly Rolls testimony there should be no reason why you should vote blue. We need to start putting Americans first.
The Kingdom of God is at Hand John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Well articulated? Definitely. Meaningful? Definitely not. Jelly rolls collective content is literally pro addiction. Talking about how sad it is for his ex yet he makes music that glorifies and exploits addiction on a national level…? Yeah he seems so sad about it. I’ve lost family and friends to addiction as well, and there’s no amount of money that I would accept to make album’s glorifying the same addictions…it’s called selling your soul and causing gods children to stumble and if he’s so smart then he’s knowingly come to that crossroad and decided which path to take.
@1rko542 Who are you to decide what is meaningful and what isn’t? If you think that talking about addiction is the same as glorifying it or exploiting it, you are part of the overall problem because sweeping it under the rug and forgetting about it is not going to get us out of this mess that we are in. You can choose a different path but that doesn’t mean you completely erase and forget about the destructive one that you were initially on. That’s not how it works and that’s certainly not how “God’s children” are going to make it out of all this alive. We are losing lives every 11 minutes so I think it’s time that somebody start talking and start talking LOUDLY. Thank you Jelly Roll!

What is he suggesting they do to help put an end to this? Isn't the bulk of this problem coming from the cartels throwing fentanyl in just about every thing they send over here now? Off topic I know, but personally, I think the good people of Mexico need to rise up and fight back against those cartels to take their country back. Supposedly they're now killing people's familiy members that don't pay their "protection fees". I don't know what the answer is, just wondering if anyone knew what they're hoping to get done?
So sorry for your loss, I know how it feels. I actually lost my sister in 2021 as well, she was 30 years old. “Because it’s 190 drug addicts, we don’t feel that way.” Got me right in the gut. I used to work with people with SUD, and it’s truly heartbreaking to hear their stories and backgrounds, mostly related to abusive backgrounds. Addiction is a disease, it’s not because people are “weak.” Edit:// Yall, addiction of all kinda runs in my family, as well as having personal experience. My father is a crippling alcoholic and I’ve been through the wringer. Every expert tells me that these afflictions are a disease. You are not weak if you are an addict.
i am a former addict and that line really got me. it couldn't be described any better and really makes people confront their lack of empathy for addicts. we are human beings.
Formerly addicted to /smoking/ percs. Quit cold turkey then got on methadone, then dropped by 10mg a week. (Average is only 2.) therapist was called to ask me if I’m self sabotaging or suicidal; I let it be known I feel the withdrawals. I wake up suffering. Screaming in pain. Then I get my medicine and it does enough to barely take the pain away. But I’m going to continue doing it because I refuse to be an addict. I was addicted for 4 months. Smoking $80 worth of pills a day (which actually isn’t that much) I was on methadone for 3 months; before becoming addiction free. My point? It is 100% because you’re weak. I’m not saying you’re not CAPABLE. I am saying you’re giving yourself EXCUSES. I would wake up throwing my guts up, sweating and sh**ting myself without having a fix. I wouldn’t be able to move or function. I would cry actual tears from the pain. And I still prevailed. Addiction is a mindset. It’s a mentality. And you giving yourself a reason to slack makes you weak. Because I dealt with ALL of this; while being HOMELESS. Sleeping on concrete. In bushes. No friends. No family. No support. Other than my own WILL to overcome. So I’m living proof that addiction isn’t impossible to overcome; despite ANY reason you give yourself. And that you not being able to overcome is because you’re not strong. Not saying you can’t BECOME strong; but as of this moment you are NOT. You are weak. And you allow yourself to continue being weak by telling yourself “it’s a sickness” rather than admitting you’re unable to handle what’s required for you to become better.
I'm a former addict, and addiction is not a disease. It's difficult to contend with, sure. It's less easily reversed than some actual diseases, but it is not a disease. Calling it a disease so adamantly only serves to remove a nebulous amount of personal responsibility from the person it controls; and, as a psychologist, I can tell you that no progress is made without personal accountability. Blaming everything on exterior factors or scapegoating a pretend disease will not allow the patient to grow and form good habits and become well adjusted. Scapegoating will only serve to enable them to varying degrees. Sure, some people recover even with the mentality that addiction is a disease, but only in spite of such an attitude: not because of it.
@mavisrecon7948 literally the reason im sober isnt because of my years of therapy, its because i wanted to make the change. Thanks for educating fools who call it a disease.

Right? Its so refreshing to follow an artist who really and truly is an amazing soul on this planet. no ill intent within him. Imagine his inner strength. To leave a life of addiction and dealing especially these days and come out 1, a functioning human and 2, Carry as much light as you did before life dragged you down, Its a lot. Its too easy to get high and live in another world. He actively fights against it still to this day. Amazing. That's power.
Incentivizing drug addiction isn't the answer by any means.... Jelly is wrong... We need our border closed and secure and illegal drug flow will stop DRAMATICALLY. Making "safe spaces" for junkies to get high and opening Suboxone/methadone clinics is NOT the answer. I'll tell you that from experience so listen to me dammit.

@jayrod7389 that's awesome. We really should support one another like this regardless . Thank you for your kind words. We all got this if we got one another.
@jayrod7389 I understand that well too. There are different struggles for everyone but the struggle remains the same just different essence. We spend way to much time not understanding and putting others down for their issues. I see it everywhere. I recently made a friend with Schizophrenia. I find people like this very unique and special with hearts that need care. Anyway Their family treats them bad. This person has nobody. I really do not believe their family understands their condition or they are either very stressed. I won't give up on them because I see their potential. We need to support one another and be positive. I can not stand when people put others down for issues they have no idea about. Support and care are what we need as a society. True compassion and empathy without politics
@realhebplus1871 yes there are a few ways to get an OD victim breathing again. Narcan, which reverses the effects of opioids, is the most common. I have OD on fentanyl 7 times and am only here because of narcan.

Preach! I flet this deeply. My entire family struggled. Majority due to accidents and dr. Over prescribing. I watched my mother struggle my entire life, while I raised my little brother and sister. But she was such a beautiful soul. Anyone who had a chance to meet her would definitely agree. After 25 years of battle we lost her. And my baby sister at 16 had to be the one to find her. The experiences we went through made us who we are today. Thank you, Jelly Roll, for using your voice for those who didn't/dont have a chance.
Wow, that was incredibly moving. Definitely pulled a tear or two out of me. Well said. As someone who has struggled with substance abuse most of his adult life, it's good to hear these words.
Brought a tear out of me as well. And I too struggle with substance abuse, it's been a war within me. Keep fighting the good fight. We aren't alone in this.
As a recovering alcoholic (4 years), this speech made me cry. Addiction is nearly impossible to overcome. Recovery is a life-long battle and I weep for those stuck in the vicious cycle of addiction.
Can you tell me how your alcoholism started and what your thoughts were at the time? How much were you driking in the beginning and did you think you would become am alcoholic?
As a recovering addict myself we have to Vote to keep the borders closed. We know as recovering addicts. The cartels are using the people to ship their drugs through. We need to close it down no matter what. Or more of us will die
I refuse to take a moralistic message from someone that took advantage of people to financially make gains off the people he now tries to protect. Addiction can be stopped by educating people to say no in the first place. It needs to end before it begins, not after. We as society need to stop glorifying drugs and crime. Its pretty simple. While big corporations have taken advantage of people, the military has taken advantage of people, we can end the cycle here and now. There are better laws and understanding of drug use. There is no excuse for recreational drug use - it has consequences and people today who willingly and knowing decide to roll the dice on street drugs need to be held accountable for their own actions. If you take illicit drugs, you are choosing to roll the dice on addiction.
I lost my youngest cousin at age 20 to a fentanyl overdose in September of 2022. I started listening to Jelly Roll last year after my mom suggested his music, after my sister and I along with our spouses sent her and her boyfriend to see him in concert for Mother's Day. I could see why she was such a big fan and I am now too, and it was heartwarming to see him speak about this issue that's now touched my own family. He speaks with passion and real knowledge of this epidemic and I can see those listening truly felt his words and resonated with his story. God bless Jelly Roll for using his experience and his platform to speak up about the fentanyl crisis.
Dang. This was incredible. Brought me to tears. I had a brother who fought drug addiction until the day it took his life. He tried many times but the power of drugs was stronger than he could be. As an addict in recovery, over 12 years clean now, I have no words to properly express my gratitude for someone like JellyRoll to speak on the topic of addiction and the fentanyl overdose epidemic going on. I am also a community and economic development specialist for a large not for profit agency and I work almost daily with the men and women that struggle with the affects of not only poverty but addiction and mental health. This is a growing and heartbreaking problem but also one that is complex and requires unique solutions. Bringing awareness to these issues and inspiring others to help in the fight is something that is desperately needed. New eyes and minds on the problem brings fresh insights and ideas, one of which may be the solution to help make the progress we so badly need. Even though I know it's unlikely JellyRoll will see this, but I still feel it needs to be said, thank you sir for stepping up and speaking out.
Thank you for what you do. Keep shouting from the mountain tops the help people need & the problem this is as most politicians live in a cocoon and have lost touch with reality.

i dont listen to his music but this man showed a side of him thats extremely relatable, we recover but some of us never got the chance. rip to all my friends and family as well as everyone elses loved ones. rest easy we’ll see yall soon
His music is powerful, this guy has turned his life around, found God, and is sharing that through his music in hopes of inspiring others to do the same. But a lot of music encourages the opposite, and that's across all genres. Modern rock encourages self harm, self pity, hate towards specific groups of people. Country music encourages binge drinking, drunk driving, self-justified murder. Hip-hop encourages drug use, gang violence, domestic abuse. Pop encourages sexualization of youth, excessive greed and lust, and gluttony. A lot of people don't just not believe in God, they believe God doesn't exist. These people who completely deny the potential existence of God live in much more sin than those who do believe, or those who think God might exist. Music that encourages sin is popular because we all sin, sin is tempting, and without God and any possibility of your sin being objectively evil, why not just embrace the sin since it feels so good in the moment? I struggle with this too... I think that's why Jelly is a little bit back-shelf despite being popular. He goes against the status-quo of the record labels in our hyper capitalist society, sin can make capitalism thrive, and talking about God and turning your life around doesnt necessary help the coprorate machine that this nation has become... It's tough because even mentioning God offends so many people, which is just wild because he loves us all.

Well articulated? Definitely. Meaningful? Definitely not. Jelly rolls collective content is literally pro addiction. I’ve lost family and friends to addiction as well, and there’s no amount of money that I would accept to make album’s glorifying the same addictions…it’s called selling your soul and causing gods children to stumble and if he’s so smart then he’s knowingly come to that crossroad and decided which path to take.
@@1rko542good point! I hope he sees your post.
“Because it’s 190 drug addicts, we don’t feel that way.” Got me right in the gut. I used to work with people with SUD, and it’s truly heartbreaking to hear their stories and backgrounds, mostly related to abusive backgrounds. Addiction is a disease, it’s not because people are “weak.”
Edit:// Yall, addiction of all kinda runs in my family, as well as having personal experience.
Some people are weak addicts, some people actually have trauma, you need to determine who is who and who really wants help.

Jelly is wrong... We need our border closed and secure and illegal drug flow will stop DRAMATICALLY. Making "safe spaces" for junkies to get high and opening Suboxone/methadone clinics is NOT the answer. I'll tell you that from experience so listen to me dammit.

The type of person that has overcame their adversities with TRIUMPH and turned their lives into more than just success. From the moment he started speaking I got chills. So fierce yet eloquent and the absolute conviction he spoke with was incredible. Massive respect!
I'll admit his message was pretty good. Otherwise nothing moving compared to the many others saying essentially the same thing. This issue is rooted into the core of the government itself.

Tears, goosebump all the way from the Netherlands
As a man who is 22 months clean this gave me goose bumps, we need more men like this to speak loud and proud to help make change happen
Ngl people not caring makes me want to just OD on meth but maybe they may care, just don't show it. In my life currently it feels and seems so lonely and I can't stand it anymore.
Congratulations on your sobriety! It’s an amazing personal accomplishment and I hope you are proud of yourself ❤
It was wild. I have never heard anything this powerful. I've been struggling with alcohol for a while. Tomorrow I'm going in on my own to get clean.
Be well, you're never ever alone.
As an ex addict who has just hit 5 years of sobriety and someone who survived many fentanyl overdoses, this brought me to tears.

Yes the over weight drug addict. He condones drug use in half his videos but for some reason he's a martyr now wow what a joke.

New eyes and minds on the problem brings fresh insights and ideas, one of which may be the solution to help make the progress we so badly need. i dont listen to his music but this man showed a side of him thats extremely relatable, we recover but some of us never got the chance. rip to all my friends and family as well as everyone elses loved ones. rest easy we’ll see yall soon
Everyone listens to "save me. " that song transcends music style. Consider trying it. 😊
You’re not stupid. You are making a difference. A conversation came up at our dinner table about you last night. Keep doing what you’re doing, son.
