My dog saved me! He still is right now. He’s the only reason I didn’t off myself when I was deep in my addiction. A couple years later, I put down the drugs and a year and a half after that I quit drinking. I told my psychiatrist that I didn’t want him to eat my dead body because he was starving. That’s how I got a letter for him to be an emotional support dog.
I haven’t heard a podcaster/interviewer that’s a better listener than Jon. Makes everything feel so genuine and authentic
Dogs want nothing but to love you. It is soooo hard to do, but it is our duty to be there and love them the most during their last moments. Cody is an amazing human being! Thank you for being so open with your life and emotions.

This is why I CAN’T EVER get another dog. When my last dog died it nearly broke me. Sheba was there for me during the toughest times in my life & the unconditional love she gave me I know I will NEVER EVER find that again with any other dog. I could write for days about how special & sweet she was but all I can say now is that Sheba knew me better than anyone else did & if it wasn’t for her, I know that I wouldn’t be here today talking about her & she WAS the ONLY reason I didn’t end my life (which prior to having her I had attempted suicide) Sheba gave me purpose & meaning when I thought I couldn’t go on with my life. I love you Sheba & I miss you more than words can say ♥️💋 & Momma can’t wait to see you again in Heaven! What a great guy & what an amazing service dog he had. Bless you Jon, Cody & Munin. That shit made me get a knot in my throat. That was extremely sincere and heartfelt. I believe in the value of animal and human connections so much and had to make that same call for my Doberman a couple years ago and it broke my heart more than anything I ever experienced but knowing how important it was to do that act of mercy for him to no longer suffer and keep trying to appease me when he could hardly walk upstairs or soil his bed and feel so ashamed and you try to let them know it’s not their fault and it’s ok but to them they’re devoted to pleasing you that’s all they know. Godbless Cody for this shoutout to his service animal and all the other folks out there who love and appreciate these dogs.

Everytime I hear someone talk about thier dog it makes me hug my girl extra. Last year when florida had a few tropical storms roll through this pretty American bully ran into my home she and never left. We had her checked for a chip and she didn't have one. So she became my fur baby and her name is Justice. She is the bestest girl ever. ❤

The feeling of letting go is one of the biggest jumps you learn to make with a dog.
You don’t want to let go of them because they never want to let go of you until they absolutely have no choice when they come to their final days. We have to make that choice for them.
When I put my Am-Staff Kilo down. Feeling his body just relax falling against me with all his weight as I held him and go limp as soon as that first shot was administered I knew he was ready. He was at ease.
Till the end he was always on watch for me and our family, always devout always on guard always full of love.
I still miss hearing his loud ass snore when he slept.

Cody you're not alone my service dog passed last year he was 11 years old and with me through 6 of them, I have pictures of him laying in Hospital beds with me after a few of my multiple brain surgeries and shrapnel removals. RIP Mumford Lane

I had to say goodbye to my Belgian Malinois in July, after eleven years together. I feel so much of what he's saying. We had a lot of immense challenges together, but we overcame them all together.
Worst part is having put your best friends down.
Lost 3 all in the time of 2020.. worst damn year. Theres alot that brings me down, but that and seeing family, hit me like a damn truck.

I've had 2 dogs since I got out of the Marines in 2010. If it weren't for them I wouldn't be here. I was about to delete myself from the earth one time, when my dog came and put his head in my lap. I broke down and just hugged him and balled like bitch. Thats only one example... Dogs have been an amazing part of my life since I was born, but these 2 were like my guardian angels ❤🙏

We've all heard the saying "dogs love you more than they love themselves." And this is a prime example. A dog will save your life and make it more meaningful than you ever thought possible. Their soul purpose is to serve us, gifts from God himself. Sometimes that friend we need to vent to or blow off steam with has four legs...

Great podcast Jon...Cody is an absolute beast, who cuts through all the bullshit and shows his vulnerabilities. Amazing story about his dog. Yes as stated below may Munin RIP. I know firsthand how much a dog can save a life. I was paralyzed from the neck down for 4 months. Told I would never walk again. Chris Reeves...aka Superman doc was mine. I was told my injuries were so much worse. As u lay there I remember how banged up he was. All I did was cry every day. I had no family...friends kind of dissipate after a month and u go through this torture alone. By the grace of God I go into 14 hours of surgery and I can move. I went to Kessler for rehab, then home by myself, except for Dino my dog. Like Cody he was on my chest every day & night giving me strength to go on. I had a halo, girdle and neckbrace for 3 more months and spent every second of every day with him. Holidays were just him and I. Like Cody's Munin, he got cancer and was in pain, but didnt want to give up. Brutal shit. God bless and much love to both of you. God Bless & stay strong.

I dont trust cops with dogs. Nothing personal but bottom line, as soon as they release that animal on you, you are at its mercy. If it bites your face off, and it *could..regardless, whatever it does to you, if you so much as touch it, even to defend yourself, this guy, who clearly values his dog more than you, will empty his clip into you.
