What do you think of the new wheel and tire setup? Let me know in the comment section down below whether you think RPF1s are played out or if you agree that they were the right pick!
Can you provide some insight as to buying based on treadwear class + why you went 245/40 instead of what a lot of people use for street use (255/35 or 265/35)? I know a lot of folks debate the benefits of using a 265 vs 245 due to the impact the larger tire has on grip, weight, etc. Some say it's not worth the extra 20mm at stock/lower power numbers. I'm in the market right now after demolishing my Michelin PSS's over the last two years
Im an rpf1 hater. Out of both overplayed wheels: te37 - rpf1, i prefer the te37 by miles. Could’ve been worse, you could’ve gotten 17” rpf1s, thus making the wheels appear even waaay smaller
Agreed! something about the 18x9.5 spec is really nice too, the spokes are concave and there is a nice little dish too. I used to have a set on my GC but the 17x8 ones didn’t look nearly as good
People who say RPF’s are over played don’t know anything about wheel design and RPF’s 😂 That’s spoke design is used on F1 cars. Those spoke design allow for crazy break cooling.
You’re wheel choice is Cool! 💯🙌💪. Every single person doing wheels will have a preference. Im looking at titan7’s. And a couple others. Im on 57dr now but. Will change eventually.
Those are all solid wheel choices as well. I will keep these for a while and then probably switch to something else eventually. Variety is the spice of life!
Thanks! I contemplated going white but my Type R has white wheels and they are a chore to keep clean. Hopefully gold should be a little bit easier for a daily driver
should throw some firestone indy 500s on there for daily. they arent bad on track either and WAY cheaper. edit: also, those arent just unsprung but ROTATIONAL reduction. the equivalent is even higher and these will make a huge difference, i went with a smaller 17x8.5 +40, 245/45 for mine, they are even lighter and clear 4 pot brembo upgrades which was my main concern. you need concave rpf1s to clear those.
The build looks great my dude. I just recently got my Volk TE37’s Saga S Plus’s with the same 18 by 9.5 +38 in bronze and wrapped them with 255 35 R18’s for my WRB WRX. Wish I could post some pics they look super clean. Keep up the work on the build thinking about getting a suspension set up now.
I hate rust too, but the price was right! Lol. My plan is to fix it up once section at a time. I already got a lot removed from the toe arms and sub frame

How do I go about purchasing the stock BBS’s? 😉 Keep trying to find a set locally and they’re all trashed.
I have the same wheel specs just powder coated mines in black. Should have went 255 😅
@@KasperWithA-K Keeping the stock STI wheels for my winter set
That’s one nice set of winters! Haha

RPF1s were definitely the right choice. Love the gold on silver look too!
Subarus can pull off gold wheels better than any other platform!
Wonder if gold RPF1s would look good on the Ice Silver Metallic VA STi with the yellow brembo callipers. What do you think?
Looks good, thanks for doing this build it helps me make choices about my 21 wrx
No problem glad I can help!

Could’ve been worse, you could’ve gotten 17” rpf1s, thus making the wheels appear even waaay smaller
Fair enough, not everyone loves them but they were a good choice for some affordable track wheels!
You know nothing about wheel design 😂
You selling the stock wheels? Lol
I will probably put winter tires on them and keep them for now
RPF1's are overplayed for a reason and thats cause they're great wheels. Fits with a lot of cars and good performance. Nice pick!
Agreed! something about the 18x9.5 spec is really nice too, the spokes are concave and there is a nice little dish too. I used to have a set on my GC but the 17x8 ones didn’t look nearly as good
Brother you have this subie looking really good 👍. Oh yeahhhh.
Thanks man 🤙 I have really started enjoying this WRX since I put the wheels on and took it to the track. Stay tuned for that video next week!
@Foster Johnson Media Oh yeahhhh I can't wait brother. Stay safe.

I like it. I had RPF1s on my 08 WRX. Decided to go a different route on my current car. Still Enkeis though 😉
NT03s? I was considering running those as well

Pilot sport 4s OD
Those are good tires too but I wanted something 200tw
how will you account for the speedo mph difference? is it lest speed shown?
Since my wheels are a bit taller they will make the speedo a little off. But at least my mileage should be less now 😂
Nice choice man! Love the RPF1’s. The gold is sick. 👊🏻
Thanks! I contemplated going white but my Type R has white wheels and they are a chore to keep clean. Hopefully gold should be a little bit easier for a daily driver
RPF1's for the win!
Great choice, I rock those on my subie. Different color though 😁👍🏾
They come in a ton of different colors. I know gold is not for everyone but I like the flashy look 😍
@@FosterJohnsonMedia it matches perfectly to yours 👍🏾
The other wheels that are overplayed are TE37s. Glad you went with these RPF1s. I want gold wheels on my STI so bad
TE37s are more common at car shows than tracks 🙃
Powder coat is the way
Agreed they're great track wheels but definitely tired as far as looks
Fair enough! wheels are something I enjoy switching up so I’m sure I’ll get something different down the road
Crazy how fast and the amount of rust cars get in the Midwest.
RPFJuaaaaaans!!!!!!!!
Can’t beat a classic. It’s like chocolate or vanilla ice cream! or maybe I’m just hungry 😆
Nto3s or rpf1s are always a good choice by enkei so looks good
I originally wanted a red WRX with silver NT03s 🤤
@@FosterJohnsonMedia you can always wrap it or repaint it! Wrapping better for a less permanent
Did it needed spacers for that flush look?
Nope that is due to the +38 offset!
I know the pain of cutting those toe arms lol
Things got out of hand pretty quickly 😅

I will look in to the Indy 500s for my next set of tires. These A052s don’t seem to like the winter 😂
RPF1s are made for these cars
Yeah they do look exceptionally nice on this VA platform 😍
Ooo I like, I have a ice silver STI and have been wondering how gold wheels would look. Good choice mate.
The silver paint makes the gold pop! Subarus are the only car that can pull off gold wheels so well
@@FosterJohnsonMedia Yeah I agree. Gold wheels on Subaru's it's just meant to be.
Wonder the same : ice silver metallic VA STi with yellow brembos... Would that look good with gold RPF1s?
I dig the RPF1’s on there, I’m just personally not a fan of the silver on gold combo. Also.. wasn’t this supposed to be your wife’s car? 😂
Yes technically it still is her car, she just never gets to drive it anymore. 😝

Can’t go wrong with some bronze TE37s. On WRB 😍
Theres so much rust. Omg i hate rust lol
I hate rust too, but the price was right! Lol. My plan is to fix it up once section at a time. I already got a lot removed from the toe arms and sub frame
@@FosterJohnsonMedia it sucks but yeah itll happen if we like it or not! But keep up the great work Foster!
I’ve been actually thinking of doing RPF1 in the black chrome I have a 21 WR BLUE STI ⚡️🙏🏻
Can’t go wrong with black wheels on WRB
Looks really good!
Ayyy thanks I appreciate that
Nankang tires for me 💪🏾
Did you go with the CR-1s? I have heard good things!
@@FosterJohnsonMedia have a set coming in soon… they went from CR-1 to CR-S …
16s are lighter.......wish the 18x9.5 were +40 or +42. +45 would be even more perfect imo.
I did end up having to roll my fenders for this fitment! +40 you probably wouldn’t have to
16??????? 🤢
I would put the OLM trunk hole delete and leave the sti wing 😎
I am going to get that hole delete to test it out 🤙
Nice wheels and tires! The size and offset is spot on! Plus gold is always acceptable on subies! 😁👍
Thank you! The 18x9.5 +38 is perfect for a flush fitment without rubbing issues. It’s what we run on all the SubiSpeed shop cars!
Haha it's crazy because I rather have the oem one lol want to sell them haha
I’m keeping them as my winter setup and putting snow tires on them ❄️
Looking great bud! Keep up the videos , love the channel.
Awesome, glad to hear you are liking the content 🤙
Based off the explanation here I need to hit the gym 😅
You would be sprung weight so you’re good! Hahaha 💪
rpf1s i have them aswell, they the best
They tick all the boxes! Lightweight, affordable, and good looking
Wheels and tints make a world of a difference on a car. Build looking clean.
Oh yeah! Going to do tint as well eventually. Should be a cool DIY project
@@FosterJohnsonMedia look forward man!
The gold looks great. Very nice!
It’s flashy but I like it as well
Love gold wheels on a Subie!
I’m going to have a hard time getting the keys now!
Looking good Foster 🙌🏽
A HUGE upgrade over the spray painted red wheels that came on it. Lol 😂
Love the wheels. I would like to know your alignment you end up with and maybe see some B roll when it has settled after the alignment. Thank you
Alignment is -3.2 camber front -2.7 rear, and 0 toe. Felt great out on track so far! but it’s an aggressive alignment setup for the street
@@FosterJohnsonMedia That is, aggressive for the street. Thank you for the response
Should of got 265's minimum.
I didn’t show it in the video but Kevin and I did have to roll my fenders. I can only imagine what 265s would need to make them fit 🙃
