Honestly, we should get a Sonic and Spider-man crossover considering we got weird crossovers like DC x RWBY, Avengers x Godzilla. Sonic and Spider-man would make more sense because of the fandom convergence.

One thing about Sonic and Spider-Man that’s similar is their character traits that make them appealing and relatable to younger audiences, such as their age, their charismatic attitudes, and their bravery in dangerous situations.
Relatability that Marvel always squanders and tends to amount to very surface level shallowness, especially on the Sega side ever since Sonic SATAM ended.
Also they both operate similarly when fighting. Sonic is untouchable most of the time and so is spidey(when hes fighting lower level villains) And while they dodge their opponents they quip and make fun of them while they do it. I se why the fans like both. 😊

fundamentally they have so much in common its crazy. theyre both red and blue colored characters, quip while they battle, have many iterations, idolized in their universes and irl and have a companion named miles.

side note, most of the mainline Spiderman films (the non-spiderverse ones) are PG-13, and while many of the Sonic games in the 2010s are specifically targeted to kids, the mid to late 2000s games as well as Sonic Frontiers are targeted to teenagers and up.
This video is honestly like a childhood revelation for me as somone who's been really into both franchises from a very young age, being interested in Sonic in some sort of way since Pre-K and my love of Spider-Man extending longer than my actual memory

in the Archie comic we actually get to see Spider-Sonic, in a prominently displayed monitor in Zonic's surveillance room (along with several other Marvel heroes such as Thor, the Hulk, Namor, the Human Torch, and Wolverine) and also in one of the alternate universes we see "Stealth the Hedgehog" who is basically black suit Spiderman doing battle against a Green Goblin version of Dr. Robotnik.
My take, is that they have that sort of power fantasy that teens find attainable. Sonic and most incarnations of Spider-Man are teen-aged, so they're easy to identify with a younger audience. They're considered attractive by females (namely Amy and Mary Jane) within their own universe, which is why you see them shipped a LOT in fanart. They also have the same plot structure of "a teenager trying to hold the world in their shoulders" and a lot of kids identify with this because most of them feel misunderstood, neglected, or like they're against the whole world; and that's due to them not really knowing what their purpose is.
It's the same reason why a lot of anime fandoms tend to overlap. Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, MHA, etc. They all appeal to that same demographic that Sonic and Spider-Man appeal to. Not to mention that Sonic and Spider-Man fans are also the BIGGEST battleboarders on the internet, but that's another story.
A difference tho is that Spider-Man is still as relevant and iconic as ever while Sonic has been desperate for table scraps and been sleeping on his chief rival, Mario's, couch for decades.

I've always loved both ever since I was a kid. I think what links them together is that they're both characters who use quips to annoy their enemies and use their mobility to maneuver around their enemies rather than overpower them all the time, leading to some creative on the fly solutions that are fun to watch. Most importantly, both characters are all about having a sense of justice, perseverance, and being a catalyst for positive change with anyone they interact with, all inspirational traits especially when you're introduced to them at such a formative age.

I’ve always like Spider-Man and Sonic equally. I found about both franchises around the same time cementing my love for both
I can remember watching both Sonic X and the Spectacular Spider-Man on 4Kids once when I was little and thinking to myself that the shows are very similar to each other because of the action and fighting style from both shows.
This became even more when I heard somewhere compare or quite literally say that the Sonic movies are like the Sam Rami Spider-Man of video game movie adaptations
I believe Spider-Man ps4 was a driving factor as well. The traversal in that game is satisfying for sonic fans
Plus the length of the game helps newer fans connect to Spider-Man and what he stands for more than a few hours of a film would
Both move like each other so it makes it easier for me to imagine imaginary fights for them :)
Many people often overlook the fact that these characters are quite simple to draw. Personally, sketching them from a young age has deeply ingrained their image in my mind. I believe this is the case for many others as well.

Other strange things I notice when it comes to Sonic and Spider-Man, I don't know why I make these comparisons but the Sonic Adventure games and the Raimi Spider Man movies feel weirdly similar or at least have similar vibes in a way. But other things I notice comes down to voice actors, weirdly enough between Sonic and Venom.
Like did you know that Rogar Craig Smith one time voice Venom in The Avengers: Battle for Earth despite most people knowing him for voicing Captain America or even more lesser known a Italian voice actor named Renato Novara not only voice Sonic in Smash Bros WiiU/3DS, Sonic Generation, Rise of Lyric and the 2020 Sonic Movie. But also both
Venom/Eddie in the Italian dub SM3 game as well Venom again in Spider Man Web of Shadows and Spider Man: Friend or Foe.
Lastly, Bryan Drummond as of recent is Eggman in Sonic Prime and way back when was Knuckles in Sonic Underground also voiced Venom/Eddie in Spider Man Unlimited. There is probably a bunch of other Sonic voice actors that have voice in Spider Man that I have completely forgot about so feel free to add more to this if you wish to.
And this is why next week is going to be one of the most exciting weeks I can ever experience. A Sonic game AND a Spider-Man game in A SINGLE WEEK?!
And a Mario game AND the Fnaf movie a week later

I have been into both Sonic and Spiderman since i'm a kid so much that i made my own sort of AU mixing both of them so i'm just gonna say some random connections ive found:
•In the Archie cómics and SatAM Sonic has this whole girlfriend problem just like Peter, but mainly they endup with the red head who is very smart ( MJ and Sally)
•They have no parents (sorta) and live with their uncle/aunt who they love very much and it's basically their parental figure.
•They eat hotdogs a lot?
•Little buddy named Miles.
•have a friend/enemy who has a deep conection with some black alien that are supposed to be very evil but not really.
•in the comics (again, the Archie had a lot of similar stuff with Spidey) they had a whole thing with the multiverse and all, not to metion the No Zone and their Dimetional police who is basically what Miguel Ohara kinda thinks he's doing in the Spiderverse movie.
• With Sonic Prime (TV show) i found fun the concept of Tails/Nine basically has Doc oc energy.
I could go on and on...

As a huge Spider-Man and Sonic fan I would LOVE to see these 2 team up 1 day. Imagine both Peter and Miles's Spider-Men team up with Sonic and Tails to take down Doc Ock and Eggman or something. It doesn't even have to be a game. You could make it a comic and I'd be fine with it
Problem: any negotiation between Sega and Disney would be heavily weighted in Disney's favor. You might look to recent woes of the House of Mouse and use that as evidence that they'd be more amendable to sharing profits because they really could use a win, but that actually makes them MORE likely to build such a deal so much in their favor that Sega might as well not even try even with rbe publicity bump.
If not they could just have one of Sony's Spider-Men meet Sonic. It doesn't have to be canon to the source matriel their from

This phenomenon isn’t recent at all. Look no further than Spider-Sonic which was made using a screenshot from Sonic X and coloring the Spidey costume on him or the Spider-Man movie trailers in the style of Sonic. All these things existed almost 10 years ago. It’s been going on for a long time
I'm a spiderman fan first. One of my earliest memories is watching spiderman and sonic has had an impact on me too. Both are easily in my favourite characters of all time

i always felt there was a connection to be made with Sonic and Spider-Man. Sonic games have been pretty bad for a long time, and Spider-Man comics have been bad for a long time.
Funnily enough, I was actually a Spider-Man fan before I was a Sonic fan.
As someone who has Spider-Man & Sonic the Hedgehog on their profile pic, I can relate. I can say they’re both awesome!
I always wondered this as someone whos loved both series' ever since i was little, and noticed many similarities between the two (and funnily enough a lot of Sonics music works so well with Spidey, an example being "Through Traffic" from Sonic Riders with the chase scene, the one in Nueva York specifically, from Across The Spider-Verse, works so well)

Not hard to answer. they have similar colors they're both heroic, do the right thing because they know it's right, they're buds with two amazing characters who look similar to them with black and red color patterning, both Cool asf been through hell and back and still come out relevant and on top, they have some Outstandingly good Movies, (some in Spideys case not really good) if u know what I mean and overall I just love the shows, merchandise and games I grew up with.
During Archie comic days there was a Writer Dan Slott that made a version of Sonic called Zonic the Zone Cop, Dan is famous for The Amazing Spider-Man, The Superior Spider-Man, Silver Surfer, and Fantastic Four comics, I heard he wants Zonic to come back again.

As much as i would like to see a proper Mario & Sonic crossover, i think SEGA and Sonic Team had long to go before they have a crossover with Mario. maybe someday though, just not soon. but meanwhile they should have a crossover with something else. like of course...the Amazing Spider-Man. honestly, would be a match made in heaven.
I really really hope we get a Stealth the Hedgehog reference in Beyond the Spiderverse. That would be so so awesome.
And now with Sonic frontiers:The Final Horizon and Spider-man 2 being released only a month apart,after playing both and replaying frontiers with the final horizon instead of ouranos and when new game + comes to Spider-man 2 I plan on playing Spider-man,Miles Morales and Spider-man 2 (important side quests included) all in 1 sitting

I think if you are gonna mention the timing of the franchises, you should mention that the timing goes way back. I remember that around the time Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic SatAM was airing, there was also Spiderman TAS.

Here's a quick story: I was at Walmart and I saw someone who looked alot like bulbasquirtle, and that got me thinking, is it actually bulbasquirtle? Or is it a look alike? I'll probably never know.

I've been thinking about that my entire life! I thought that Spidey and Sonic are so similar, that as a kid I've been imagining Sonic movies being directed by Sam Raimi in the style of his Spider-Man Trilogy as my dream films besides Spider-Man 4 considering the fact that Sonic is my #1 favorite video game character similar on how Spidey is my #1 comic book character. I also love the fact that there was a trend in the late 2010s beginning at Civil War where whenever there's a trailer for new Avengers there's also a Smash Bros. version replacing everyone as a Smash Bros character, while the lineup on which is which was varied the only consistent idea is that Spider-Man is always Sonic a fact that I'm very glad about.
I don't even need to watch the video to give you the answer, or at least my answer. They both are characters that stop at nothing to do what THEY believe is right. Not what IS right, but what THEY believe is right. Both are not afraid to fight with other heroes if it means their ideals clash, and both are willing to beat impossible odds to save those they love.
