So fun fact, in "Warrior of the Mind" the harmony between Athena and Oddy builds up. At first Athena holds the note and Oddy has the little melody which she joins him on for the last time. However in "My Goodbye" Athena starts with the same little melody and it ends with a single belted note.
Unfun fact: Athena only ever had one true friend, named Pallas, daughter of Triton, who helped train Athena in the arts of war. During a sparring match, Zeus saw that Athena was losing the fight, and not wanting his daughter to lose, secretly flashed his shields, directing the sun into Pallas' eyes. Distracted, Pallas put down their guard, and Athena accidentally impaled her friend upon her spear. She was blamed for Pallas' death, and forbidden to go to her funeral. Athena had been born as an adult, but had the mind of a child, and while she had gained much knowledge at this point, she had little emotional intelligence. So, she shut down. She ran out of tears to cry, and eventually, locked her guilt away behind a stoic mask. Athena did, however, take on her friends name as an epithet, and was thusly known by many in Athens as 'Pallas Athena'. So, she is basically numb to Odysseus' tears, having forgotten what if felt like to be in greif.

Then the next time she sings it she also does the run, showing she is opening him into her life. Now with my goodbye she does a bit of a run with her last couple of "goodbye!"'s and then finalized it with holding the note to show she has cut him out, she is done. The songwriting is so goooooood
Athena is mad for two reasons, Ody didn't kill the cyclops (making sure no threat remained), and also the name thing. Because... you can ask gods to help you when you've been wronged in Greek myths. So... when Ody gives his name... it's like he's doxxed himself and is ASKING for a god to take him down a peg. So Athena was like, "No listen to me! Don't do it! Gods you did it! You silly man!" Recently Crashite released a very good animatic for the song "Luck runs out" from "The ocean saga", Mortius hasn't seen it, so your playlist probably has another version. But i really recommend to watch the animatic from Crashite, it's so much better!
@Atlaska I mean, people are allowed to have preferences. It's fine if someone thinks X is better than Y, it doesn't mean someone thinks X sucks. I think Gigi's animatic for Monster is the best one but that doesn't mean I think the others out there are shit. Honestly it's more rude to tell someone their opinion is rude or not valid when it comes to things like this.
Oddy say all of this, but there's only one thing that he forgot, she's a literally a GODDESS, he say all of that like she was one of his soldiers, oddy has some balls.

Massive props to the animator as well he captured Athena’s essence of being something not human close but the way she turns her head very avian since she’s linked to owls having eyes without pupils and her towering stature I didn’t notice first seeing it but someone pointed it out
@@JenniferGlatzhofer “ROW FOR YOUR LIFE!” - Honestly wishing you the best, hurry but savor the amazing talent and voices! Each saga has a different enjoyment. I do like the “dance-like” motif of time signatures and animatics;
I think athena left, not due to the fact he felt emotional loosing his friends but because he allowed his emotions to control his actions- not taking her very rational advice. By him essentially taunting the cyclops who was already blind- thinking hes so high and mighty that he can literally leak his name and home. That sort of recklessness isnt something you want in a general. If you were in a war and your general went to the enemy you just defeated "HA, MY NAME IS ××××××× ×××× AND I LIVE AT ×××××××" while being aware that gods can take advantage of that, id be like 'that could be bad'. If he had just silently left, she probably wouldve stayed (been annoyed, sure but i dont think enough to leave). In those few sentences, Athena realised that Oddysseus was willing to risk everything just to get the final word in. Yeah, she was quite flat and didnt sugarcoat it but like...this is a war and she is the GODDESS of WAR and WISEDOM- not emotion. Of course shes gonna be upset he did something so stupid! Great reaction! Im so happy that more and more people are getting into the epic community ❤

Knowing about the theming around background vocals I just realized she was treating him as an equal up into the point she said you are just a man with the spirit backgrounf
I know you're more focused on the music than paying specific attention to the animatics. But I'd recommend looking at the background of the shot when Athena's chorus joins her in singing "Just a man."
It's a joy to see your genuine enthusiasm for the vocal performances and for all the callback and motif nerdery that's all over this musical. It inspires me to relisten to the songs with a fresh ear, I'm excited for you to hear more
For me, its about the betrayal that both of them see based on their views of their relationship- Athena sees herself as Odysseus' mentor, so when he casts aside her advice, she sees that as a betrayal. But Odysseus sees her as a friend, so when he looks to her for sympathy and support and gets anger and blame, he also takes it as a betrayal. If we needed anymore evidence about why healthy communication is important in relationships...
Thank you for being the personification of my own nerdiness when I first heard this song via Mortius! Greek heroes tended to be seen as greatest when they were absolutely ruthless and cruel to their foes. If you think about it your emotions are both a strength and weakness in war/life or death moments... so Athena teaches turning off your heart so that they can't be a weakness... because 'strength' was more important. A perfect Warrior is one with no weaknesses. Yeah the name thing was a mistake... don't give them a target if you leave them alive. That "You're alone!" clearly hit Athena, but she's *very* good at turning off her heart. I love that look back from Athena and how it is very owl like. Hmmm... I don't think I'll have any fun facts until after Circe... might remember something during one of the others though.
in the original text she never leaves and is always watching over him (actually don't know in this), Athena is a merternal role in to Odysseus amd is the one time she was allowed to be as such in myth
Athena was in the right, Odysseus lets control by the anger and the compassion. Letting the ciclops live and saying him his name a thing that will return as a tragedy to Odysseus

Just letting you know the newest Saga in Epic is gonna release in 3 days. So if you find it hard to find animatics when you reach the latest Saga it's okay I'd just use a lyric video if you can't find an animatic that does the whole song. Animation takes time. XD
When he was following Athena's teaching, being a rational and logical man during times of war None of his 600 soldiers died. She initially warned him when he showed he was leaning to Polites idealogy and then what happened happened. Of course Athena would be mad and dissappointed she warbed him for a second time and he made it worse. So her cutting off Ody since he would be against poseidon is wise decision on her part.

I'm not sure if it is on my end but the playlist is in the wrong order so the first video is the latest so if you are watching this through that you have to remember to go a video back each time so you don't go backwards.
So small problem Jorje’s releasing new and improved versions of both the Troy Saga and the Cyclops Saga because companies aren’t paying him his money for both those sagas… so… yeah… Maybe after you finish watching the entire series you can go watch the newer ones? Idk do what you want I’m just the informant
Its not really focused on, but Odysseus _is_ prideful We see it in his cockiness when dealing with the cyclops (up until Polyphemus decides to kill everyone) When he demands Polyphemus remember him And now, when he "talks back" to Athena (yes, he is grieving & its understanable he'd blow up a bit but) he calls a _GODDESS_ vain, counters that, no, actually, this is HIS goodbye & points out she's alone Unfortunately Jorge's music is so epicly composed, we feel as if Odysseus is doing the right thing (His "i am the infamous, Odysseus" moment 100% _sounds_ like a hero/victory moment, but it is NOT)
Odyssey is letting his emotions overrule his logic while in hostile lands, and putting him whole army at risk of death directly as a result of those actions. Sharing emotions is a private thing when you're safe at home. He should not be lashing out at his best chance at returning. Your immediate response of wanting him to be emotional is weird. Why do you want him to do so?
showing your emotions is how most people process them, unless you have gone through war, or something equally traumatic, most people don't process emotions in silence or have an easy time letting logic take precedence when their entire world gets flipped upside down. so yes, as leader that is what he should have done, but under extreme circumstances even the most logical can become emotional. and putting your emotions aside is not normal by todays standards, so why would that be anyone's default setting if they have not been through one of the aforementioned trauma's?
They just came from a war and this definitely isn't the time to process. The instability from sound so clearly compromised his ability to think clearly which is the problem
Despite these issues they have here.. Even after Odysseus passes away, Athena takes the effort to actually befriend his Son.. She know later she was partly wrong..
I know you're mostly doing a vocal analysis, and itll be a while until you get to it, but I *highly* recommend reacting to Rochi's animatic for "Monster" in the Underworld arc, their visual metaphors and storytelling are AMAZING and perfectly complement the music

"If you're looking for a mentor I'll make sure your time's well spent" from Athena, and "bestest of friends" from Odysseus.
Also, some recommendations for the next Saga:
Storm: Jen
Luck Runs Out: Crashite
Keep Your Friends Close: Gigi
Ruthlessness: Anniflamma, though Gigi has one that continues from Keep Your Friends Close
4:51 " she wants a leader who's going to lead"
ah yes, the floor here is made of floor
Recently Crashite released a very good animatic for the song "Luck runs out" from "The ocean saga", Mortius hasn't seen it, so your playlist probably has another version. But i really recommend to watch the animatic from Crashite, it's so much better!
Second this, Crashite's animatic for Luck Runs Out is super good.
I feel like even if you like it better it's kinda 'eh :/' to read one animatic is better than another/others, just as a thought /lh
@Atlaska it's good because it really shows what Jorge intended to do with this song. And Odysseus's intentions in the end of the song are also right.
@@LilyBirds Oh, I'm not debating it's good! 🙌 But I don't think it's necessary or good to compare which one is better, is all I'm saying.
9:49 look at choir, see anything familiar? It's not cannon or anything but it was a good way for Wolfy to emphasize that twist of the knife.
exactly ... just to the right of her ... Polites... and he's holding the infant
EPIC is such a journey of musical candy! ❤🤗
Right😁
I'm so excited for what is to come. Also, you will eventually understand where Athena was coming from
Oddy say all of this, but there's only one thing that he forgot, she's a literally a GODDESS, he say all of that like she was one of his soldiers, oddy has some balls.
It’s a miracle that Athena didn’t kill him on the spot
Definitely recommend looking through Jorge's shorts! He gives lots of the music stuff we all love like the call backs, ensemble lore, instrument choices etc and it's just aaaaaaaa. So good :D
Massive props to the animator as well he captured Athena’s essence of being something not human close but the way she turns her head very avian since she’s linked to owls having eyes without pupils and her towering stature I didn’t notice first seeing it but someone pointed it out
I just missed the premier but! CYCLOPS SAGA. I hope you can catch up before the newest saga in like 4~ Days
I know! I need to hurry up hahah!
@@JenniferGlatzhofer “ROW FOR YOUR LIFE!” -
Honestly wishing you the best, hurry but savor the amazing talent and voices! Each saga has a different enjoyment.
I do like the “dance-like” motif of time signatures and animatics;
CORRECT! From what I can tell.
I absolutely love your reactions and analysis of the songs. I feel like im getting an enriching experience learning things ive never woulda learned prior
Thank you!
I love watching reaction videos to Epic because it feels like hearing for the first time again. I cannot wait for you to hear the rest of the sagas!!!
watching ur reactions is like waiting for a new episode of a show thats airing 😭
You get me 😭
Knowing about the theming around background vocals I just realized she was treating him as an equal up into the point she said you are just a man with the spirit backgrounf
I know you're more focused on the music than paying specific attention to the animatics. But I'd recommend looking at the background of the shot when Athena's chorus joins her in singing "Just a man."
POLITES WAS HOLDING THE BABY!!!!😭
It's a joy to see your genuine enthusiasm for the vocal performances and for all the callback and motif nerdery that's all over this musical. It inspires me to relisten to the songs with a fresh ear, I'm excited for you to hear more
This song and one in the Underworld saga are definitely in my top 5. Is just so amazing, story and music wise.
The song is great, as is the reaction to it. We look forward to the continuation.😁😁😁
This song is the musical version of an epic rap battle of mythology
1:55 this is greek mythology just to remind you and in greek mythology ruthlessness is mercy
(Speaking of, there's a cheeky animatic from it that just cracks me up every time, in case you haven't seen it already). My musical theater brain was just picking up all your points and going YAAAAAS QUEEN (err goddess)!! Excited for you to embrace the tidal wave ahead as the musical "Odyssey" continues!
"Ba- Wa- Li- what line?" PFFF 💀
I personally think the Mircsy version of this animatic is the better depiction of the fight / break up between the two of them.
This song impaled my heart on a spear like how Athena impaled Palla with a spear
You should cover this song with mortius, that would beee sooo awesome
👀👀
Girl it's 5am I just binge watched your entire Epic list and I can't wait for u to continue. I'm one of them mental epic fans, I'm obsessed with it since I found it little after the oncean saga released, so when I saw vocal coach reacts to eppic I instantly clicked on it. I looove your videos so far, made me an instant fan of yours. Your analysis and your reactions... I mean... golden!!!!!
Oh thanks so much!
Watching your reactions and analysis makes this even better!
Athena was in the right, Odysseus lets control by the anger and the compassion. Letting the ciclops live and saying him his name a thing that will return as a tragedy to Odysseus
MY GOODBYYYAAAAAYYYYYEEE!
1:56 Actually, she was right. If he listened, he wouldn't have lost his whole crew
I love your reactions so much, I can't wait for the next saga
❤❤❤ lovely ending to the Saga! Thank you for your reaction and analysis!!!
I'm excited
2:28 it's Hades' :P
Jen you better sing at 10:45 ✨✨✨
This is actually my first Epic song that made me get into it🤭 (its a pity that is her last song for a good 4 sagas)
I love Athena's voice ahh
@@MissDoesAlot Her voice is gorgeous. I came in WAY late into the series. I had never heard of it until The Underworld Saga.
4 actually
That’s awesome this was my first song of Epic as well think I may have worn out the replay button lol
NICE WARRIOR OF THE MIND CATCH!
Jennifer! Watching one more because it's pounding rain with thunder and lightning outside so no sleeping with that going on. Might as well watch another Jen video until this nonsense is over with ... unless the power goes out, it's that bad! 😯 Ok for you ... ❤... as requested. 😊 So Goodbye ... sounds more like a nasty breakup between Athena and Odysseus! Did you ever turn Sarah on to this Epic? You did say she loves Greek mythology. Great reaction and analysis Jen. Off to bed ... the weather has settled down a bit. 😊
Hi Jennifer hope you are having an great and awesome day ❤
OMG Thunder saga is epic i am so excited for you to react to it and if you want to the (Jorge versions) of Troy and cyclops saga realsed so yeah..cause the company who there were working with were b- and yeah thats it ahh thunder saga is ahh amazing

you and casper both have beef with athena now lmao
Yayy
GOODBYE (C)2006
I'm a little sad she didn't see polites holding the baby in the background
Who won? Who's next? You decide!
Teehee... gotta love it...
I'm not sure if it is on my end but the playlist is in the wrong order so the first video is the latest so if you are watching this through that you have to remember to go a video back each time so you don't go backwards.
Click the reverse button at the top of the playlist...
Badass señorita
So small problem Jorje’s releasing new and improved versions of both the Troy Saga and the Cyclops Saga because companies aren’t paying him his money for both those sagas… so… yeah…
Maybe after you finish watching the entire series you can go watch the newer ones? Idk do what you want I’m just the informant
Its not really focused on, but Odysseus _is_ prideful
We see it in his cockiness when dealing with the cyclops (up until Polyphemus decides to kill everyone)
When he demands Polyphemus remember him
And now, when he "talks back" to Athena (yes, he is grieving & its understanable he'd blow up a bit but) he calls a _GODDESS_ vain, counters that, no, actually, this is HIS goodbye & points out she's alone
Unfortunately Jorge's music is so epicly composed, we feel as if Odysseus is doing the right thing
(His "i am the infamous, Odysseus" moment 100% _sounds_ like a hero/victory moment, but it is NOT)
❤

Minerva and Ulysses.❤
You should react to “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts
Glad you didn't see Polites on the side of the men at Just a Man. You'd have cried again
❤❤❤
I know you're mostly doing a vocal analysis, and itll be a while until you get to it, but I *highly* recommend reacting to Rochi's animatic for "Monster" in the Underworld arc, their visual metaphors and storytelling are AMAZING and perfectly complement the music
My guy she just finished the Cyclops Saga 😭 😭
@@fiony1 I literally started the comment with an acknowledgement of how long it'll be
React to slaughter to prevail viking to hear some interesting vocals
Hi! Can you do a reaction video of "Saving All My Love for You" by Michael Pangilinan and Sassa Dagdag? Their cover is chef's kiss! I hope you'll give it a try. Thank you!
please reaction dimas senopati , alone by hearth, thank you
Hope you didn't like Athena either...
