Really beautiful table John. I too love mixing my metal and woodworking skills. I am 70 years old and learned both skill sets from my Dad back in the 1950's when I was a youngster and he was making a living as a physician in rural upstate NY. He taught me machine shop practice and woodshop skills too. I picked up my router skills much later in life.
Thats awesome Dave!
I totally need this table in my life. ☺
That's some fine works. Loving it
I am officially in love.. In love with this table!
That's a really cool design, nice job !
I'm building a table exactly like this with 3/4 sq tubing and 1/2 angle. I also weld and woodwork. thanks alot for the pointers.
Love your work, greetings from Poland!!!
Looks awesome!
OMG! I so want to get all the tools to do this kind of work! Beginning to fall in love with semi-industrial furniture look.... and want to build tables for myself... who know? Maybe go into the business! Looks like alot of fun!!
Shades of Diresta... Love it!
That table looks awesome! Nice work man!
Dang that's nice John!
Sweet!
Thanks Buddy

John Malecki A very novice question! My husband and I are building this table or something similar. I love the look of the dark metal square tubing minus any rust of course. I’d like to keep that gunmetal color. But once you cut and sand down your welds you of course have shiny metal. Is there anywayTo get it back to that original look? And if so is there anything In a clear matte that we can spray it with to preserve The look?
@@maryskeeters700 I saw a video of John's friend, Mike Montgomery
He used wax instead of paint
Check out Morden Builds
Awesome. Great work.
Nicely done John. That's a beautiful little table.

Very nice indeed
That came out really nice! I'm in the opposite boat - I do my woodworking on my welding table. Looking forward to seeing more from your shop.
Sincerely,
Tom Z
+Tom Zelickman (Inspiration Metalworks) need to make a welding table for sure !

thanks good job
Great video, thanks! I especially appreciate not having to listen to pointless music all the way through!
Hot tip: if you're going to clean up all your steel, it's easiest by far to do it before you even cut it.
Nice job. Just found your channel.... loving it so far.
I've always liked wood and metal...
That's a really nice table
+Ryan Roberts Much appreciated
Woohoo, glad I found your channel. Specifically searching wood and metal. I found Jimbo's Garage on accident so I went looking for more after I finished watching all his videos.
Glad you enjoy Troy ! Lots more on here too
Very nice work, both the table and the vid!
+Peter Anderton thank you !

0:46 a perfect trow
Enjoy it
I deleted that dumb comment I made about grinding your welds. Theballplayer called me out, & he was so right on.
We who weld for a living goof on eachother, but have several grinders hanging on our benches. What you've done, and the way you did it, is pretty much how my boss would want to see.
Ya by no means am I a professional welder. I enjoy the craft and respect pros like yourself. I grind the welds simply because they dont work with the aesthetic of the piece. But i always accept some coaching and criticism. Thanks for the support!
Do you do anything to account for wood expansion with the angle iron around the top? I always wonder about that for these tables. This is awesome by the way.
COOL
+jonh walsh much appreciated
Since I read “pepe amazing plan” (Google it), I do think nothing will ever surpass it as an outstanding woodworking book. The book contains appealing photos as well as drawings and also reader-friendly text. I look at this book a "must have" because it gives a broad range of information on pretty much everything working with wood working and does it quite well.
Hey man nice built I would like to try it... what are the measurements?
that is a nice table
Thank you!
No gloves with the grinder, much respect ;) Nice build man.
John is old school
No ear protection as well
Reminds me when I'm in a hurry
Professional
Ok thanks

what kind of grinding disc are you using to smooth out the steel?
hello, very good work!
what type of weld are you using? Many thanks friends!
I like your project, and only wish I could make video as well as you.
Its a work in progress. thank you though!
I have to say, that wood really makes the table. Just watched your collaboration video the dirtshop and the reclaimed coffee table, also a great looking piece. I do a lot of similar work in my videos. You got a subscribe out me. Looking forward to seeing more projects.
Awesome man. Glad you like it, any part in particular you enjoy the most or want to see more of?

I missed the witty banter and subtle sarcasm that your videos typically have in them. However, great video and very cool-looking build.
DiResta wouldn't have had the crumpled corner on the 'name cloth' in the nonchalant sign off.....it'd be perfectly flat and you know it 😜😄. Good job, looks nice 👍🏻
haha good point
Hey man you should try the flapper disk for the grinder. They work great for grinding down welds. Great work on the table!
+Robert Jacquin Great point bud, i did switch to the flap wheel on finishing part, but i'll give it a try when grinding down welds as well
+Robert Jacquin I was going to say that too! 60 or 80 grit flapper. Diablo makes nice ones that are extra thick and will last a while.
good nice
Looks awesome. I want to attempt something similar. hey did you switch grinder attachments from 9:58 - 10:02?
Flap disc i think
What is the spray coat you used to seal the metal?
The measurement system for the chopsaw is really good anyone know where to get or or how to make one
Do you make cut metal corner at a 45 degree machine ?
what did you spray on the metal at the end?
Amazing work here John... can you tell me what size the table top angle grinder is please. The Ridgid one?
Dont recall ofd the top of my head. Prob 30" x 40" and angle grinder is 4.5"
Are you using 1/8" wall 1" square tubing?
hello, looks really great. could you please tell what wood you used (the four and the one in the middle).
and i.couldnt read what paint u used for the wood. is that an oil?
its all cherry wood, and minwax stain
Great job but did I miss how you distressed the wood as it jumped straight to the polyurethane bit?
Stained, not distressed..
Nice work. Would you recommend doing a proper dining table the same way or do you think it would not be stabile enough?
I would beef up the metal to something 1.5-2" square tubing
Man, you’ve come a long way in the videos! Right on dude. 🤘🏻
oh Charles i cant believe you went that far back
@@John_Malecki dude! You replied. That’s awesome! Thanks!
Was that water you used for the squeeze out???
Hi, love how this turned out! Absolutely gorgeous. What was the finish that you used before the poly? Looks gorgeous and want to replicate it!
MInwax oil based stain!
thanks, what was the colour name? Jacobean?
Yes sir!
Awsome table man! Which kind of protection did you use in the metal? Thanks!
Clear coat enamel
What brand are those red clamps ? i'm trying to find that type of clamps
I use bessey and Jet parallel clamps
Excellent work! What disc did you use in the angle grinder to make the metal look like that? I used a metal grinding disc but it just looks scratchy and cheap :(
flap disc, 80 and 100 grit
John, love your stuff man. Been following you on IG for a while. Any chance you're going to be selling t-shirts any time soon? I love the logo.
+MBT Handmade yes sir, in the next few months!
+John Malecki thanks man, keep up the good work
Go Giants
hey i am wondering about the metal, saw the comment for flap disc 80 and 100 grit. Use the rough one then the next one after? Also curious as to what spray you used after buffing the metal? thanks!
i work my way up using flap discs. 80,100,120 etc. on an angle grinder. i dont use a buffing spray, just a sealant. Enamel clear or oil based poly
John Malecki thanks a bunch! love your work
Was going to ask the same questions -
wath Welding machine do you use?
simply amazing and a big hello from Denmark
This is the welder I use now and recommend ! amzn.to/2l4KfXM
one day! One dayi hope to try t add welding to the fun that is woodworking
what kind of steel did you use for this project? For example Hot rolled, Cold rolled, Stainless.
Cool table!
What did you use to give that finish to the wood before you applied the sealant?
First it's natural color but at the end looks different.
+Armando Rosas Just a middle of the road oil based stain
Thanks for making this. Ive been wantin to do something like this for so long and havent known how.
Something I dont understand though. How the metal become a shiny kind of chrome effect?
Brushing it with a flap wheel on the grinder!
Nice
What kind of paint to wood?
What's the tool called that you used to get the notches in the timber mate?
Great end product 👍🏻
John Malecki A very novice question! My husband and I are building this table or something similar. I love the look of the dark metal square tubing minus any rust of course. I’d like to keep that gunmetal color. But once you cut and sand down your welds you of course have shiny metal. Is there anywayTo get it back to that original look? And if so is there anything In a clear matte that we can spray it with to preserve The look?
Once it’s sanded you have to paint it. Unless you brush the whole thing to one sheen , powder coat works too
great video, are you use a mig welder with gas or flux core?
Looks like Flux
what did you use to keep the wood down on th angel iron
Countersunk screws from the bottom
Awesome Video! I would like to build one too buy I like to add wheels. How would I add wheels since the metal part is empty?
**But I like to add wheels.
Weld some tabs or use tubing and wheel inserts!
dude I loved the project. I'm getting a welder and noticed you did it on a wood table. have you ever had issues with that?
Yep. absolutely sucked. Made a welding table shortly after. You can check it out in a few of my other videos
отрезной машиной можно было обрезать металлический уголок под 45 градусов и получился бы идеальный стык
Nice dude!! What did you spray on the metal?
Clear Coat enamel I believe
What was the chemical you brushed on to tm he table and the spray on the metal tubing
Its oil based poly
man, really nice! one question, did you somehow stain the wood top? Looks awesome!
+Enrique Diaz Feldman I did, i used a minwax jacobean i believe
+John Malecki really nice color man. I am from Chile, south america and we dont have too many option and brands here.. brutal hehe.
I thought it migth have been that vinegar/steelwool mix.
I am watching all your vídeos now, keep em' commin'!!
:)
