2 years ago food deliveries used to be fun. I used to make at least $120 a day without a bike. I’m lucky if I can make $40 in a day now.

This is one thing I never understood about America. Why are tips mandatory? There's a reason they're called "tips", not "salary". You get tips AFTER you complete your work, and you must deserve the tip! Why are people so entitled and act like total dicks? Like, I get that you want to be a bottom feeder and do such job, but, stop whining and grow the fuck up. Here in Estonia (as well as the rest of the Europe) tips are completely optional, and have always been, and nobody has ever had any issues or whining like in the video. When I was aged 18-21 I was young and didn't earn much, naturally I didn't tip because my income didn't allow me to. Now that I'm 22-25 I tip every single delivery order, and large amounts even, depending on the delivery type, time of the day, weather, etc. Optional tips DO work and it SHOULD work this way! This one thing about America will never stop baffling me. Nuff said...
If your employer doesn't cover this, and forces you to earn tips, then you should blame the same people that own the press... if you know what I mean. :)
Drivers aren't paid a minimum wage or an hourly wage on these apps. For some apps the base pay is $2, while others like UberEats doesn't even have a base pay. DoorDash has even changed it from "orders" to "offers" which allows them to send drivers a stacked "offer" and only pay them for one of the deliveries, since a stack is now considered 1 offer, & no longer 2 orders. Waiters and waitress even get paid way below the minimum wage, so they rely heavily on tips to survive. I know it's a dirty game these companies play & it shouldn't be the customers responsibility to pay drivers, but unfortunately this is the way it is. So unless customers want to completely stop using these apps and let them die out, then drivers will NEED tips for sustainability.
I had a customer called “Idotty 2” who was a no tipper and the order was cancelled 30seconds after I left the order 😂. Bro lived 2 blocks from the store too. If I get his order again imma tell him to meet me and video record him taking the order.
