Chris Adler was the first drummer I heard that did a lot of riding on the splash. It was always a staple in his drumming so it’s nice that Art is doing it too.
Power, control, artistic. The song is definitely driven by the drums. I thank you for pointing out the ride choice. When the kit is an extension of the artist behind it. Killer drums and killer song.
I've seen Lamb of God 3 times. This past summer I saw them open up for Pantera. Never heard Art Cruz before. When he came on, holy shit he was amazing. I was fixated on his drumming. Dude is definitely a gifted drummer.
@@le_boucher First off I said Art is a good drummer so I wasn't throwing shade but he isn't Chris Adler. It's just like Mike Mangini in Dream Theater. Mike Mangini is a phenomenal drummer however Dream Theater without Mike Portnoy just isn't the same. Sorry just my opinion.
I'm becoming a big fan of Art. log are hometown guys for me... Richmond VA. I have have seen them many times and I thought that it was going to be really hard to replace Adler but Art makes this stuff his own! Horns Up! by the way how many metal drummers are paying Ludwig these day? Sounds great!
Lamb of God have always had massive groove. A lot of their tunes are a bit behind the beat, similar to Sabbath, Pantera & so-on. RE: stop/start. That is the mark of a good extreme drummer. The kicks also match the guitar in a lot of places which requires everyone to be on their game and massively well-rehearsed!
Hey Andrew. So happy you finally got to do a reaction of this one cause you can actually hear the track better. Art Cruz is more than decent replacement for Chris Adler. Playing along along with the guitar riffs and keeping the groove is a signature point of the entire Lamb of God catalog. And Honestly I’m blown away by Caleb, I don’t know how it’s possible for a human being with that age be able to play such songs. Can’t wait to see what he’ll come up with in a future when he team up with some guys and make his own stuff with a band. Lastly, I agree with what you said about Lamb of God being sort of a gateway into extreme stuff. Vocals can be pretty harsh to digest but it is the emotion layers that are added to that kind of song and message. This band is brilliant. I’m sure you’ll like 512 and Ruin (Seamus666 made such a good cover of the latter). Cheers from Brazil

I truly never understood why anyone like lamb of god. the guitarists always hit really dumb notes in their riffs, it makes the music sound so weak. and the problem with drumming to music like this straightforward trash metal is that it forces you to drive the music and makes it way too predictable and boring.
