averaging a damn near 40-point triple double in a playoff series and still losing is crazy, just goes to show how ass lebron's supporting cast was relative to your usual championship team

I think 2015 LeBron pretty much is underrated as well... That was a team where he lost Kyrie and Kevin Love in the playoffs and yet still got them to the Finals

You did an outstanding job at talking about 2009 Lebron, which, even though it's usually ranked as one of his best, I think is very underrated on an all-time scale. He was at his overall peak in 2013 and got the chip, he was offensively speaking, unstoppable in 2018. But in 2009 Lebron was an athletic freak, one that could not be stopped. I’d like to add a few more points about his run to further nail down how good he was.
    - Out of all the mentioned players to lead their team in every major category, Lebron’s team won 66 games. Compare this to KG’s Wolves in second who won fifteen less at 51 games. No other player's team cracked 50 wins.
    - In terms of playoff PER, Lebron posted a straight up goofy 37.39. That is second all-time to only Hakeem Olajuwon in 1988, who lost in the first round.
    - This season ranks 8th all-time in terms of WS. Keep in mind, WS is a cumulative stats. He only played 14 games in the 2009 postseason. The next lowest for a player ahead of him was Jokic’s 2023 title run where he played 20 games.
    - Lebron’s WS/48 sat at .399. Outside of George Mikan in 1954 (WS and WS/48 were higher pre-merger) and the previously mentioned 1988 postseason by Olajuwon, no other player comes within .06 of him.
    - His BPM is also the highest of all time at a ridiculous 17.53, 2.9 ahead of Jordan’s remarkable 1991 title run.
    - His VORP sits at 2.86, 8th all-time. VORP, like WS, is a cumulative stat. The next closest in games played is Jordan’s 1991 with 17 games, .03 ahead of Lebron
    - As briefly touched on, Lebron averaged 38.5 PPG, 8.3 RPG, 8 APG, 1.2 SPG, and 1.2 BPG on 48.7% from the field. That season, Orlando was the #1 defense in the league, anchored by DPOY Dwight Howard. If you don’t understand how insane that is, read it again.
    - This series is widely known for Orlando catching fire. In terms of shooting splits the Cavs were -1.6% from the field, -7% from 3, and -1% from the line relative to their regular season averages. The Magic were +2.5% from the field, +2.7% from 3, and +2.2% from the line relative to their regular season averages. This doesn't even put into context that Rashard Lewis and Mickael Pietrus were shooting 48.4% and 47.2% from deep on over 5 attempts a night.
    - He was 2nd in total scoring, 25th in total rebounding, 8th in total assists, 7th in total steals, and 25th in total blocks. This was the only time in Lebron’s career he finished top 25 in the league in all major statistical categories. Additionally, Lebron had the highest TS% of any SF in the league at 59.1% and was 3rd in FG% among SFs.
In terms of MVP seasons, I genuinely think it topples every single other one (yes, that includes 2016 Steph) EXCEPT 1988 Jordan which is just on another level, even compared to this version of Lebron. I don’t think you HAVE to say that it was his best season, especially when he won the chip in 2013, but I think you have to at least ACKNOWLEDGE that it is in that conversation, especially with his level of help.

Factually the west was harder then the east in 09 substantially harder you can’t just ignore that because you love lebron. The east compared to the west was pathetic in 09 the west’s 8 seeded 48 win jazz would be the 3rd best team in the east had you place them there, the 5th seed out east only won 43 games💀 and the west had six 50 win teams 5 of which won 54 games… that’s how bad the difference in conferences was which matters

BPM and VORP have lost their value in retrospect when NBA asked Bball reference to adjust it's formula to benefit Jordan's numbers as the gap between Jordan's and Lebron's numbers were too big...beside that, yes, one could argue that 2009 was his best season statistically. Great video, I secretly hoped that his 16-17 season will be talked about.

You should've shown his postseason advanced stats, he had .399 ws/48, nobody has ever come close to that, he had a 17.5 bpm. He led the playoffs in total VORP and win shares despite only playing 14 games and there was a prime Kobe Bryant playing through 23 playoff games, playing 9 more games and LeBron beat him in the total advanced stats, that is simply insane.
