Because at our dorms we didn't have kitchen (well we had kitchen, but it was only a kettle and microwave) so i did toast under the iron. We put our sandwiches in tin foil and on that we putted that iron. But for frozen pizza, I would simply put it in microwave. Btw you know you can make mac'n'cheese in microwave? No seriously, search for that.
Frankly, after being forced to cook my eggs in microwave and sometimes in the electric kettle during my travels, the iron hack doesn't seem too outrageous :P wishing you all the best Kris. Your eyes are just crazy beautiful!
