    bought the FelPro 1 piece gasket for mine. I think it will seal better against a head that's been corroded from leaking exhaust . I wouldn't put sealant on an exhaust gasket. That seems like a potential issue. manifold flange can certainly reach 1000 deg F if someone pulling a long hill on a hot summer day. It'll burn off.

    How much does this kind of repair usually cost?

    • @andrewilson8530
      @andrewilson8530 2 роки тому +1

      I know it's a year old. It will probably cost around 1,000 to 2,000 dallors. That including parts and labor.
      If you're going to do it yourself, parts should be no more than 200 to 400 dallors

      Are you including tools? It's about $30 a side in parts if you use the more expensive stainless studs.

    Great video! My 2004 Grand Marquis has never seen salt, either. Car knocks badly after cold startup until warmed, so I was VERY relieved to have bad exhaust gasket rather than internal engine (lifter or oil pump) issues. Too bad there are all the haters making comments. You are an excellent teacher and your video is well done and straight to the point. Excellent!!!

    Question. How come it doesnt say the torque spec in the Haynes manual? 106 inch lbs? It just lists the bolts as 18ft lbs or 216 inch lbs. And all data you have to pay for to use correct?

    there's 2 broken studs on my exhaust manifold on the driver side so do i just change the driver side or do i change both sides? so if i do one side only would that make the other side weaker or do i change all 16 bolts for both sides and change the exhaust manifold gaskets as well

    9:13 you have listed torque specs. Where did you find that? My 2005-2014 mustang manual says 18ft lbs. But you have listed 106 inch pounds. I want to make sure I properly torque the studs/fasteners down.

  • @litchar
    @litchar 3 роки тому +1

    Pretty easy on a "new" car. Now show us on a real car that none of you sockets and wrenches fit because all of the nuts and bolts half rusted away and the gasket is leaking because so much of the studs are rusted away that there isn't much actually holding the manifold on. Maybe you have never seen one of those
