Yeah I was very impressed with how well this one was kept. And I've been in a couple 1800s over the years.

Sweet machine! The pump that runs the pilot controls flows more than the auxiliaries on my 50hp Massey Ferguson!

Nice clean Hitachi. Hard to believe its age with it being in such nice shape! One of new enterprises. Looks like it's operating on a new job site off the south side of the pa turnpike near New Stanton pa. Great video!

I always chuckle about the missing paint and crunched tins across the counterweights and lower side panels. I bet they all have a bunch of wonderful stories to tell us all eh my friends ! LOL.

Well, that’s a monster excavator. Don’t see too many of them anymore with the twin engine configuration like that. I bet it’s pretty loud in operation.

Great video! I think I photographed the other EX1800 owned by that company (either that or it's the same one with a new paint job). It was on a road project in Bedford, PA. Pretty sure they owned two of the machines. Pictures I have are from 2002.

The old 1800’s were a pretty chunky unit!…a coal mine near me had one and they would turn it loose every so often on a highway job when they got one…it never lasted long on the jobs because it moved the dirt so fast that it worked it’s way out of a job in a hurry and then it was banished back to the coal mine again!..lol!!..one time they did a highway job with it and built the highway up to a river but there was no bridge in place yet so they either had to break the machine apart and truck it around to the other side or drive it through the river and go to work that day!..the environment guys were there at the time and told him if he harmed the river they would fine him $250k…he asked his superintendent how much it would cost to break it down and truck it around with down time included…his super told him it would take about 3 weeks give or take 2-3 days with the trucking costs it would be about $300k +…he told him to get his check book and he wrote a check to the Department of Environment for $250k and put it in his chest pocket, got up in the hoe and drove it across the river…then he shut it off and got out and yelled across the river to the government officials and said “come get your check!..lol!!

Question....is all this equipment just sitting due to the government shutting down the coal mines or is there a different reason ??

This particular machine was just shut down at the end of a shift when I filmed it. Thanks!
