    Either that machine just received a new paint job, or it's the cleanest, most well maintained machine I've ever seen!! Beautiful!!

      My thoughts exactly. It’s in incredible shape for a 1998 model. Where I work we have a 2020 Cat 330, it has about 1300 hours on the clock and looks like it has 13,000. Doesn’t take long to rag them out, especially when there is no assigned operator. When 8-10 different guys use it for whatever, none of them go out of their way to take care of it. It’s kinda disheartening when you consider how much they cost nowadays.

    Nice to know some history of these machines I worked for a large earth moving company in Alberta, Canada that had one of these. It was neat to see it load 40 ton ADT's in one or two passes.

    People can say what they want, but Hitachi makes one hell of an excavator.

      They do. We had a ZX200LC that was used as a support machine I guess you’d call it. It was always tracking here or there to dig, load trucks, clear trees, lay pipe, whatever needed done. It had about 15K hours when it was sold and except for 1 final drive, everything was original. Except for the undercarriage of course. That was its biggest issue. But for the amount of tracking Long distances it could be expected. I think we ended up putting Cat track link assemblies on it around 10k hours.

    The facts that the EX 1100 is 24yrs+ old at the timing of this video in that condition is amazing. Yes it could’ve had a paint job on it, but the real tell is the interior condition of the operator’s and for it age, wow! There’s must’ve too many operators having used over so many years to be in that condition, no?

    These 1100’s were super tough machines…I worked for a company that bought one for a big highway job…I’m gonna say it was a 95…at the same time they bought a Cat 375 to compliment it…they put the Hitachi in the rock which it did quite well in and they put the cat in the clay…it was a good hoe and super powerful but they found it super slow as well and when they timed it against the Cat, they found the Cat swung three passes to the Hitachi’s 2 passes and when they finished the job they sold the Hitachi and kept the Cat..not only that, they kept the bucket off the Hitachi and geared it up to go on the Cat…the Cat swung a 5.5-6 yrd bucket and I believe the Hitachi bucket was about 7-8 yrd…and that Cat would swing it like a champ!!..such an impressive hoe even for back in the 90’s…I ran it quite a bit and I will say that particular machine would hang with any hoe of its size today…that being said, I’m quite sure they had it turned up a bit and they blew the pumps out of it on the last job I was on with them…around 6000hrs…I’m pretty sure the engine went out of it not long after that as well!..she would puff black smoke when you came onto her…to be honest, it was not near enough hoe for the job it was doing because that job I was on was the roughest rock job I ever did in my 30 years of doing this gig!..should have had that 1100 in there but she did the job and was still running at the end of it…

    I worked for a company in south side Chicago that bought one brand new in 1991 to install 120" storm sewer, the pipe wt was 20 tons and would set without taking bucket off, oh ya, this was before quick couplers, took 5 lowboys to move if I remember right, They bought it to replace a 1800 Hopto, the good old days

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  9 місяців тому

      That's awesome! What was the Hopto like?

    • @tonyw2136
      @tonyw2136 9 місяців тому

      The hopto came factory with two V 6 diesels and company replaced them with twin V 8 Detriots, new pumps everything, short and long dippers, the where the shit, they had two, company main thing was deep sewer@@PAmining

    Thanks for another great docu. What size Cat would this equal?

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  2 роки тому +1

      Cat actually doesn't build a machine that's spec for spec with the Hitachi EX1100/1200 series which falls into the 120 ton class. Capacity wise, this machine is comparable with the Cat 385/390/395 series, however the Hitachi is a larger machine that has over 15 tons on the Cat. At the same time, it's weight doesn't quit put it up with the Cat 5110/6015 series machines which are slightly more capacity and in the 150 ton class. So you can almost say it's in between a 395 and a 6015B. The most comparable to this machine is the Komatsu PC1100/1250 series. Thanks!

    Great video PA I've heard Hitachi is no longer affiliated with John Deere now , are parts and new machines still available in the USA now ? please keep up the awesome videos thanks so much .

    • @EFCasual
      @EFCasual 2 роки тому

      Unless I'm mistaken the partnership related to the three US factories, 2 for construction equipment and one forestry. This mining excavator was a seperate business and factory. Again I could be wrong.

    • @PAmining
      @PAmining  2 роки тому +1

      Yes the construction class excavators used to be a 50/50 joint venture between Deere and Hitachi dating back to 1988. Both companies went independent in 2021. I'm sure parts availability will be good for quite some time. It should be interesting to see what both companies release in the future! Thanks!
