Yeah I was looking at the pins and the way they lock into each connector is slightly different and I didn’t want a chance of losing the fan so I went with swapping the whole connector.
Bro, thanks a lot. My bike just overheat and the head gasket might be blown. After the fix, surely I will upgrade the fan and also radiator cap. Thanks a lot!!
What a great video ! Did that actually helped to keep the ktm cooler. Also would you mind telling me how does it perform in the track after that modification, does it actually run cooler and less prompt to engine blowing up ? Thank you in advance
Thank you! It keeps the bike much cooler, the temperature bars are now consistently 2 bars below the upper "hot" marking. I haven't taken the bike to the track yet as I'm waiting to pull the trigger on some suspension but I'll definitely report back.
@GarageAddiction I am planning to install 2 Spal fan on my KTM RC 390. I noticed in some other videos that you can just move the fan pin to the KTM connecter. So here is my question: Can i connect 4 pins in the same connecter (positive postive pair) and ( negative negative pair), will that work? Or do i need to cut the wires and solider them? Here is the other video look at 12:04 mins
Could this fan cause any issue with the electric system? I mean, being more powerful... That's my only doubt about doing the upgrade... What do you think about?
I kind of touched on it in a vlog but It's roughly the same volume as the stock fan, no noticeable vibrations, it's on for much less time and usually only at stop lights or in traffic. With the radiator cap and the fan the bike is regularly 2 bars below the hot line.
Cool vid man, thanks for sharing your upgrades with us! By any chance do you have a link (or SKU) to that radiator cap? The link in your vid description is the same as the rotary tool on Amazon. Thank you!
Can i replace the radiator cap while the coolant is full? I scared it might spill out the coolant from the coolant reservoir as the coolant reservoir is placed higher than the radiator
If you clamp the line leading to the rad you can swap the caps with the bike on its side stand, you might loose a tiny bit when you open it but not much at all.

Hi bro. I purchased a Helix Rad cap 1.6 bar, and my coolant from the radiator leaks. I think the spring are soft compared to the stock. Is your spring soft too? Or is this a faulty item I purchased?
It would have been better if you havent cut the wires of the spal fan. You can just easily remove the white plug of the old fan and transfer it to the new one so that it the wires remain original. Nice video btw 👌
Thanks! Yeah I pulled the pins and the way they locked into the connectors was different between them and I chose to take the route that would hopefully keep them from pulling out over time. It’s totally possible to just repin them for sure!

I don't know how similar the two bikes are, I imagine they share a lot of parts so the fan would probably work. For the clutch are you referring to the lever play?
@@cah7925 as long as it's fully releasing and engaging that's the best it can be. Big adjustments happen at the engine arm and small ones on the lever. @@GarageAddiction I think the bigger radiator its more promising since it can handle more coolant. But I can't find any aftermarket one that males for ktm models. Any idea what radiator maybe can be used?
@@soemardi8885 There isn't a whole lot of space for a bigger one but there are some aluminum ones on ebay that are slightly thicker and may hold a touch more. When it's functioning properly it doesn't get too hot using the stock setup but I haven't had it to the track.
@@GarageAddiction yeah i found that too, but i think it mau hard to find now. I'm just curious about using another aftermarket motorcycle rad, but it have a little bit taller dimension. I feel like the rad is a little undersized for the bike. It’s fairly thin and doesn’t have a huge capacity. The fan moves a lot of air which helps but it would be nice to see more coverage for sure.
The radiator cap helps raise the boiling point of your coolant and may solve your issue. With my experience on this bike you will probably still get overflow issues unless you improve the fan or radiator for overall cooling.
@@GarageAddiction Thank you so much I have KTM 390 duke and stock fan sucks bought the Spal fan and will change the thermostat easy also as I m not riding the bike after long periods. Hope all that solves the issue. Really thank you for your reply.

You don't have to solder anything. You can take the flat copper pins off the SPAL black connector and just put them into the KTM white one...

Hey, thats not the fan that comes in the image. Oh, i found it right, beside.
I wonder how this fan performed.
I can see it won't work as well as the OEM because it doesn't have any cowling.
It's significantly better than OEM even without the cowling. It'll drop the temp bars super quick.

Hi bro. I purchased a Helix Rad cap 1.6 bar, and my coolant from the radiator leaks. I think the spring are soft compared to the stock. Is your spring soft too? Or is this a faulty item I purchased?
Sounds like a faulty cap, mine requires about as much effort as the stock to compress and get in place and it doesn't leak from the cap at all.

Do you know how many seconds does it take to cool down the radiator? Thank you!
It usually comes on for about a minute or two depending on the air temp. I'd say it's at least half the time that the stock fan is on.
can you give the specification of radiator fan of ktm rc390
Not sure what the oem fan cfm is but the spal has kept the bike consistently cooler
