Dude, I was thinking from the first licks that that it has a Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, grunge feel to it. Love it!

*The song also gives 95% Soundgarden vibes, it's almost like Soundgarden (without Chris Cornell) plus Taylor Momsen.* 🎸

Her range is great, in particular her lower notes are so clean! She is fantastic

Pretty sure low is her natural range. Which is definitely unexpected. Makes her unique for sure.

She really does have a great natural rasp to her voice and yeah, her low tones give me chills every time. In the song 25, when she hits "ten" in the count, that note just resonates in my heart when she sings it!

Yes, the guest musicians on this song are from Soundgarden, guitarist Kim Thayil and drummer Matt Cameron. Soundgarden was one of Taylor's favorite bands growing up. Song is from the 4th album, Death By Rock and Roll, and yes their 1st record after Chris Cornell died. This was one of several videos from that album filmed within a few days during quarantine in, I believe, NYC. Matt and Kim filmed their parts remotely in Seattle.

This is one of a couple of songs from this album she wrote for Chris Cornell. Definitely sounds kind of like a SoundGarden song, Especially with Kim Thayil playing guitar and Matt Cameron on drums. Then the song "And So It Went" features Tom Morello from Chris's other band, Audioslave. Taylor was devastated as many of us were when Chris passed away. Great way to honor him.
Seen The Pretty Reckless live 3 times. So awesome live.

My favorite TPW song. I'm glad you liked it.
Notice the two Taylors one in white one in black both are in the storm but the one in white is often looking up pleading to be saved while the one in black is just sitting and is content being there playing in the water. For anyone thats ever dealt with strong depression its spot on. The visuals to the video are a lot deeper than they appear until you look deeper. Taylor is a genius at everything she does.

You should check out the "We Will Rock You" cover from In This Moment. It has Lzzy Hale and Taylor Momsen featured. Having those two in the same song as Maria Brink is just....*chef's kiss* It's amazing.

Little Cindy Lou Who has come quite a long way. Glad she is getting to live out her dreams.
I have seen the Pretty Reckless once. They are wonderful musicians, in fact their lead guitarist is world class. The songs and stage presence didn’t hold my attention for the entire set. I found myself crowd watching, rather than listening to the music. Hard to describe what they lacked that night. Perhaps I just wasn’t in the mood, as it were, for what they had to say.

I love the variety in The Pretty Reckless's music. They have rock, metal, country, grunge, soul - and it is all done well! Great artists and an amazing front woman.

I've seen Taylor Momsen & The Pretty Reckless in concert in London. She has it all, sex appeal, the voice, she can hold front of stage, can excite an audience and has songs that rock!
    What's not to like? ❤

Can't get enough of their music and of you listening to it!
In case you haven't seen it yet, there's a recording of The Pretty Reckless at the T in the Park Festival 2011. Taylor was only 17 at the time, but you wouldn't be able to tell from her singing, it's insane. The way she sings and performs there is crazy, I don't know if I ever saw her putting so much clearly visible emotion in a performance, gives me goosebumps every time.
If you haven't seen it yet I would love to see you listen to it, especially to Make Me Wanna Die

There's also an acoustic version of this song you'll want to check out... all the unplugged/acoustic versions are phenomenal.
Highly recommend looking at "Death by Rock N' Roll" or "25" next, again the unplugged versions are so good. very raw with only piano/vocals.

Those are amazing songs. And if anything, their acoustic versions are HEAVIER than the original. She unleashes real power in her acoustic songs.

I got what you were saying about the lyrics. Music has always been a huge part of my life. I’m 62 and I love The Pretty Reckless. Every event in my life, bad, good, or otherwise has music “attached”. If I think about or listen to a song it reminds of that event in my life and vice versa. Maybe we are all suckers though. When asked about Led Zeppelin’s music once, Robert Plant referred to them as having “deep and meaningless lyrics”. 🙂

I never really paid attention to this band because I thought _"Oh, here we go again. One more cute actress who put a band together that no one would know or care about if she wasn't already famous"_ but then I found a video of them playing *_"Like a Stone"_* by _Audioslave_ right after *_Chris Cornell_* had passed away. Yeah, shame on me for immediately dismissing her just because she was a famous actress before she started a band.

Yeah the entire album is heavily influenced on her personal trauma and battles with depression after losing Chris Cornell when they where touring together (she have said she literally hugged him after the show, and woke up the next day to the news of his passing) and then her producer and Kato was killed in a motorcycle accident a few months later. I still hold this e tire album as one of the greatest rock album of the last decade.

You need to react to the Doors. Incredible band from the late 60s to early 70s. Songs like Riders on the Storm or Light my fire are the popular one, but they also did a lot of other good stuff. May you know them, it would be so nice if you check them out.

I'm very curious to find out what their next album will sound like. For more than a decade, Taylor mostly sang about despair, but she seems to have escaped that headspace in the making of Death By Rock And Roll. I would love to see some upbeat rock from her in the future.
