Keväistä karhunpainia Korkeasaaressa (2013)

Sunnuntaina klo 10 Kulosaaren kirkonkellojen soidessa karhut päästettiin aurinkoa ja lunta tulvillaan olevaan tarhaansa. Taivas oli pilvetön ja pakkanen paukkui jopa 15 asteen tuntumassa. Naapurin merikotkat kaklattivat tervetulotoivotuksia karhuille.
Pakkanen ei karhuja haitannut: tavalliseen tapaan lumi kirvoitti karhuissa peuhaamisriemun. Emo ja tytär aloittivat useasti leikkitappelun, möyrivät keränä lumessa ja kaivoivat lunta mielenkiintoisten hajujen innoittamina.
Ankara karhunpaini sai suut kuivumaan ja karhut kävivät useasti lipomassa juoma-automaatistaan vettä. Ruuaksi karhuille annettiin aluksi omenoita ja päärynöitä, mutta nyt ruokavaliossa on myös lihaa ja leipää, kun ruokahalu vähitellen paranee. Jano tuntuu olevan nälkää suurempi -- normaalisti vähemmän suositun kiinankaalin ne rouskuttavat ensimmäisenä parempiin suihin.
Korkeasaaren karhut nukkuivat tänäkin talvena pitkät talviunet. Ne vetäytyivät talvipesäänsä marraskuun alkupuolella ja heräilivät vasta maaliskuun ensimmäisellä viikolla. Karhujen sisätilan luukut pidetään vielä päivisin avoinna, joten otsot voivat halutessaan vetäytyä pienille kevättalvinokosille.
