I just love watching all your videos. When I have a 'break time' from my NMAT review, I come to your channel while eating or taking my snacks so I'm not wasting time. And it's definitely worth it 'cause I get to learn other topics in advance I'm yet to cover for my review. I'd definitely recommend this channel to my younger siblings who will follow my footsteps to med school 💕

Professor Organic Chemistry Tutor, thank you for analyzing and exploring the difference between Pure Substances and Mixtures, Elements/Compounds etc. The chemistry examples really tell the story about Pure Substances and Mixtures in AP/General Chemistry. This is an error free video/lecture on UA-cam TV with the Organic Chemistry Tutor.

Pure substances can be broken down into elements and compounds. Salt is a compound and compound falls into pure substances. That's why salt is a pure substance.
When nitrogen and oxygen chemically combine then it is a pure substance. If they are not chemically combined and are able to be separated by physical means then it is a mixture.
I think it's a pure substance cause we can't separate it's own components by a physical process like we can't heat it to it turns to glucose , water like the comment above
sorry but i do believe that if you added salt to a water solution and electrified the solution it would make hydrogen and chlorine gas, this is how they make sodium hydroxide and chlorine for bleach right?
I think it depends on the type of salt that you add into water solution (forming the electrolyte) if the positive metal ion is more reactive than hydrogen on the periodic table then hydrogen gas gets releases from the cathode ,however , if the metal ion in the salt compound is less reactive then it forms as deposits surrounding the negative electrode. If there are no halide ions present in the salt compound then oxygen gets released from the anode if there is then the halogen gets released from the anode. Not all salts make hydrogen and chlorine gas when it is "electrified" The salt you are talking about is sodium chloride.

sir air and sea water are both mixture
Yep kid sea water contains salt+water and air contains many gases like oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, etc.
If u just mean air as in air not other gases, air is a pure substance
What is ice , vinegar and paper
ice is a pure substance
paper is a mixture
vinegar is acetic acid which is a pure substance

How is salt a pure substance when it is composed of Na and Cl?
Eric Judkins-van buren Not 100% sure but I think it’s because salt cannot be converted back into the two separate elements
Pure substance is anything that has one type of particle hence salt contain only Nacl molecule .
@@deepans38 So NaCl is the particle not Na and Cl? That is what is confusing me.

why is that nitrogen and oxygen combined is a mixture, but hydrogen and oxygen combined is a pure substances?
I know I'm late but compounds are classified as pure substances
